No Are we getting close? I think we're getting close, but I just walked outside, Scotty, it is not fall yet

[00:00:59] The Little Debbie fall-themed snack cakes are out, so that's a little fall-ish, right? Good a reason as any to think it's fall, yep Yep, I don't think I've tried any of them, it was like pumpkin spice rolls and I don't know I love a pumpkin spice-flavored thing, you know that Orange pumpkin things, I don't know, I just like seeing them, I can't eat them anyway, so it doesn't matter It's good to see I think it tastes like ground-up toenails for all I care I hope not I just like seeing them I hope not I don't think that's their recipe No, not as far as I know Not as far as I know, right

[00:01:28] The mailbag, I know we were getting close to catching up last week, or perhaps we did, but Nope, nope, it's going in the wrong direction It's looking like it's moving again, Scotty I think that we are becoming victims of our own success here, and there might be a point in the not-too-distant future No Where we're not able to read every single email anymore, but we'll see, let's see what we can do today, let's put a dent in it Alright, let's do it

[00:01:53] Letters, we get letters, we get stacks and stacks of letters The first email is from Christmas Kate Kate says, hello Christmas morning people My mom and I were watching the game show Flipside And I started freaking out seeing Dan and Bran That's funny On my TV It felt like a celebrity spotting with how much I enjoy the podcast and even meeting you guys at ChristmasCon First of all, what is Kate talking about, Bran?

[00:02:19] Dan and I were on a game show network show called The Flipside with Jaleel White, Steve Urkel What? Yeah Why am I only finding this out on the streets? I don't like this Well, the thing about it is it airs randomly in random places So it's not like it was hard to be like, you should watch it now But I do have it, a download, I could send it to you The thing about the show, Scotty, if I can be honest with you, it's not a very good game show My wife watches the game show network, and I know She might have seen us

[00:02:48] I know that not all of them are, let's say S-tier shows Right, right They have an entire day to fill, I understand Yes But still, I would have liked to know, have known I'll send it to you, it was a couple years ago now Oh, okay It's not like a thing that I've been holding back for, like something that's happening right now Yeah, can't hide fame, right? We didn't even post it on the socials, it's like it never happened We won a thousand dollars for what it's worth

[00:03:16] Wow, well Kate goes on to say, seeing you had me thinking, why isn't someone making a Christmas-themed game show? It would be a great addition to Hallmark, plus exclusivity Maybe average Joes versus Hallmark stars with holiday trivia? Just a thought, I know you have no say in the station, but I wanted to see your thoughts I thought, I think that would be fun, stop selling to me, right Brandon? It's not for lack of trying, Kate, I've had meetings about this before

[00:03:41] And Kate finishes the email by saying, big fan of you all, especially Scott's calming voice Oh, Scott That's why this one went to the top of the list If you put a compliment for me, something so nice Thank you, Kate, I really appreciate that There's a lot of things that you can say about my voice And calming is not one of them So I think you're right about Scotty's voice Oh, that's very nice of you all Thank you, Kate I have an email from Jimmy Erickson in Sweden Jimmy says, here is some Juli Juli

[00:04:09] Which is Christmas in July in Swedish I hope I got that at least close, Jimmy News, they have released this year's Yulskum flavor It's vanilla fudge And I have a pretty good feeling about it Brandon, you're not the biggest fan of the Yulskum Because it's that marshmallow texture I friggin' love it Yeah, yeah And I like vanilla fudge I'll try it again If people are gonna send, I'll try as much as they send to me You know, there's nothing I can do about it Yeah, you're not gonna get any complaints from Scotty If that showed up

[00:04:38] I gotta get one of those freeze-dried machines And freeze-dry these marshmallows And then I might like them Oh, that would be cool, yeah Have you had any of the You probably haven't But have you had any of the freeze-dried candy That's like all the rage right now? Oh, yeah I attend a lot of craft fairs Oh, okay And it's overrun with 3D printing Crocheting and freeze-dried candy Yeah Yeah So, Jimmy Keep us posted on this Absolutely I have an email from Travis Van Horn Travis says With all the recent talk about Christmas in the Wild

[00:06:06] Rebecca says Myself and my sister have been big DCOM fans for a long time Shout out to DCOM Descendants Another excellent podcast Yeah So when the fourth Descendants came out I invited some friends over for a watch party It was lots of fun So we decided to do it again for the fifth movie We ended up having seven people say they would come Wow We had roast beef left over in our freezer Because I think it was on sale after Christmas or something So my husband decided to make it Since there weren't a lot of times When I have enough people in my house to eat a roast beef See, this is not a problem in my house, Brian

[00:06:36] I just eat the whole Like pot roast is a single-serve meal for me 100%, yeah When we realized the party was going to happen on the 24th We decided to go out for a Christmas in July dinner With Yorkshire pudding and a huge chocolate cake It was great fun and a great excuse Why I've never put away my Santa Claus salt and pepper shakers I'm not 100% clear on Did Rebecca go somewhere for dinner Or did we go all out and have it at their house? I think it's all out That's what I thought too What is the Yorkshire pudding again?

[00:07:05] I'm sure you've explained it to me before I don't think I have It's like a custardy bread And you put it in these hot cups And they puff really tall If you saw a picture You'd probably recognize it But I'm going to put the call out right here And I'm going to abuse my situation To try to get somebody's help I can't make them rise At 6,200 feet above sea level I've tried everything And I know what I'm doing I used to make them in Florida all the time At like 23 feet above sea level

[00:07:34] So I don't know if anybody has an idea On how we can tweak the recipe Have you Googled like how to make it in Dendry? Yeah I have That's crazy They just stay flat Love them though The things that you don't think about When you don't live in Colorado It's like yeah Yeah Rebecca finishes by saying We also enjoyed the latest Descendants movie We haven't listened to the DCOM Descendants review yet Because I didn't want to spoil it And even the people who hadn't seen any of the movies Had a blast And they can't wait for the next one I hope you all had a good Christmas in July And make it through the hot days of August

[00:08:32] I can't imagine anyone else but Teddy Moore as the teacher So Absolutely Thank you Nick And then finally I have an email from Ross Taylor And Ross says I thought I'd send you these photos of a local real estate agent That I pass on my way to and from my local gym in Melbourne, Australia Melbourne They have this window display up all through Christmas in July Into August Being winter in Australia The light display warms my heart each time I go past And it's really nicely done Like they went all out on this one

[00:09:02] Christmas in July makes so much sense in Australia It's like if you want that like classic Christmas type feeling Just celebrate it in July Why the heck not It looks great though If I was going to buy a house I would go right on in there They've convinced me I've decided to sell my house just because of these people Yeah I just wanted an excuse to go in That's right Scotty no new reviews I guess everybody's busy sending emails That they haven't left reviews Yeah I guess that's true I do have a good joke though

[00:10:29] Very excited I feel like we should have another countdown to September 1st Because that's at least the Burr months Although I did see some posts that said we're going to rename August to October Og-tober Oh I see what we're doing here Okay Anything I can do to make it a little less brutal would be great Anything to trick my brain Tricking the brain Doesn't take a lot to trick my brain That's right Let's do the news Yeah let's do that

[00:10:55] Today is Wednesday August 12th 2026 Here's the news Scotty I know you don't care about the sports But there are people that do And our news comes in all shapes and sizes That's not true Okay I saw a new sport on Instagram that I'm very excited about It's people riding those horses on a stick Yeah Yeah I think they're called show ponies Sure

[00:11:25] Oh boy And let me just tell you The parents were taking it pretty seriously And there was a lot of yelling going on I was really surprised about that Or the Germans Who do the thing where you have to push the shopping cart back into the corral from a distance Yeah I've seen that Now if I could get a feed of that one Woo I'd be a huge sports fan Yeah Go on You would have enjoyed the past weekend on ESPN Because every once in a while they do a full weekend of ESPN The Ocho The Ocho Where they do weird sports And it's always the best Please tell me if it happens again

[00:11:54] There was one called Doink or something like that Where you know those like Kind of like small inflatable horses That kids like can bounce on and stuff Yeah I don't know You like you spin it And you try to land it in a target with its feet Like it's very serious Huh Yeah I'm into alternative sports Let's call them that Okay Well this is not an alternative sports But it is a big part of many people's Christmas Which is the NBA The NBA is

[00:12:24] So your Christmas Yes This is a self-serving story Well no Because honestly I don't usually watch it on Christmas Because I'm busy doing family stuff But it does happen All day long There are games on Christmas Day Every year And this year is no difference The NBA is trickling out their schedule this week And they have announced five NBA games On Christmas Starting at 12pm Eastern With San Antonio Against the championship

[00:12:54] The champion The champions The championship Wouldn't make any sense The champions The New York Knicks All throughout the day On ABC and ESPN Now Scotty And now Scotty Last year You could turn it on And on Disney And they had like An alternative cast With the characters Of Mickey I remember that And stuff playing I hope to do that again This year That's just That tech is wild to me Can you watch that though? Do you enjoy it? I can watch it for like a minute And then I'm like I'm gonna go back
