[00:00:02] This is a Bramble Jam Podcast I'm from the North Pole, it's time for Christmas Morning, the daily show where every day is Christmas. Here are your hosts, Bran and...
[00:00:33] Well, well, well, hello everybody and Merry Christmas to you. I am Bran, per usual, with my pal Scott. Scott, Merry Christmas, buddy. Merry Christmas, Brandon. You're not in the North Pole today with me. I'm not. I'm in Nolens today and I feel crazy because I got a wireless mic today. I can do anything. I'm spinning around. Oh, what wonders never cease. Hey, Bran, I heard a good rumor. Okay. It's Christmas, buddy.
[00:01:01] I mean, I think so. I think so, too. I mean, a lot of the stores I go into are starting to have little things creep in here and there. We got the Michaels, we got the Lowe's, we got the... I haven't seen anything in the Top Stock at Home Depot yet, but those guys are Grinches, typically. Those guys are Grinches, yeah. It's also a big day just in general, but we're going to get to that. We got to get to... Let's open the mailbag first. Letters. We get letters. We get stacks and stacks of letters.
[00:01:30] The first email is from listener Dana. Dana says, I just wanted to share a YouTube video I discovered today that showcases all the latest Christmas finds at Lowe's. My Lowe's doesn't have anything out on the floor yet, but I've seen some conspicuous Christmas-related boxes on the upper shelves, and I can't wait to see all of the new items in person, especially the Rudolph characters. And Dana sent a YouTube link, and I put it in the links section of our website. Really fun video.
[00:01:58] That is a fun video, and that person who uploaded it, that's the Facebook group that you sent me the link to. She's like in that and posts these things. So yeah, I'm already in the know. Okay, well, the rest of us may not be, so thank you, Dana. I appreciate it. Absolutely. Very cool. I have an email from Weekend Woodworking who says, Good morning, Christmas morning, friends. It's been a long time since I reached out, but I have been listening.
[00:02:24] Our local Walmart in Wisconsin is stocking the racks with trees. Every week, I look forward to looking down the store and hoping the trees are up and lit. Not yet, but the racks are filling up. I felt the same, Brian. I was in picking up a prescription this week, and I turned my head, and I was like, come on, we don't need any more of these big umbrellas. Garden center? Get out of here. Yeah, get out of here with your garden center. Yeah, absolutely. I have an email from Chris Davies. Chris says,
[00:02:52] I took a trip to Scotland last month and made sure I stopped at a couple Christmas stores when I was in Edinburgh. Tons of ornaments and Christmas-themed items in these relatively small stores. Nothing blew me away, but I did pick up a little Santa ornament. Well, I don't know what yardstick Chris is using to measure things by, Brian, but this store blows me away. It looks amazing. Yeah, I like this store, and it's honestly quite crowded for, what month was it? It was last month, so yeah, August, September, sure.
[00:03:20] Pretty crowded. There's a good bit of people in there. Yeah, I put these photos on our Instagram so people could check it out. Really cool. Thank you, Chris. Yeah, I get a little overwhelmed when it's just walls and walls of ornaments. I get a little overwhelmed by that number of ornaments, but it is a really good-looking store. And then I have an email from Chris Colpack, and Chris says, So, it's official. They officially announced the premiere date for the movie I was an extra for. Here's hoping Brian and the rest of the Deck the Hallmark crew will be kind.
[00:03:49] I listened to their review of the first installment of this series, and they were a little harsh. Even Brian. I think it deserves four peppermint mochas and a whipped cream. So he sent a screenshot of this. It's the Christmas cookie caper mystery we talked about last week. Yes, we did talk about the UpTV schedule. It is out. This is the sequel to the mystery that they did last year.
[00:04:13] And I will say this, although I wasn't super high on it, it was the best UpTV Christmas movie of the season. So, I mean, that's not nothing. Well, and even if the movie is a complete stinker, that's no reflection on Chris Colpack's ability to be an extra. Absolutely. The movie is better for having you in it, obviously. And Chris, if you can try to screenshot or take a picture, if you see yourself. Yeah, that would be so cool. I'll try to get a little shout out in the review. I'd love that.
[00:04:43] Yeah, absolutely. Speaking of reviews, Brian. Well, we're stuck. We're stuck at 315, and sometimes it feels like we're never going to get another one. And you know what? Do you think the pipe is clogged? The pipe might be clogged. Because I feel like what happens is we do this, we go for like two months with no reviews, and all of a sudden eight spurt out. You know what? That doesn't make any sense. That literally just happened to Gilmore the Marrier. We got like six in one day, and they were from like over the course of a month. So I don't know what's going on.
[00:05:11] I don't know what Johnny iTunes is doing, but leave us a review if you want to hear us read it and not be sad anymore. But you know what, Scotty? We're lucky to get 315. If we never get another review ever again, 315, I think, is more than we ever thought we would get. So it's... 315's not bad. Not bad. There's one one star in there. I don't know what that person wants, but... Yeah, well, not Christmas, I don't think. Right. But I do have a limerick. Yes, a limerick from listener Jesse Jackson. Okay, here we go.
[00:05:38] There once were two hosts, Braynon Scott, who debated with Christmas songs hot. With letters they share in TV news there, they count down till Christmas a lot. I love it. Thank you, Jesse. I'm a big limerick fan, I think. You know what, they have a natural fun. Yeah. Funness, that's not a word. But I listened to your Who, What, When episode last week, and it was on poetry. There you go. And you mentioned the limericks there.
[00:06:06] You didn't mention these specifically, because you're very good about, you know, keeping the fences up between shows. I do think, if memory serves, we recorded that episode before we started doing limericks on this show. I still think it's related. Yeah, when I think, I think so too. Do you have a joke for us? Yes. Not a good one. Are you ready? Stop selling. Okay, I'm ready. Knock, knock. Who's there? Howard. Howard who? Howard, you like to sing Christmas carols with me.
[00:06:35] Oh my gosh, Scotty. Oh, that's an all-time bad one right there. It was so bad that I spent an extra 10 minutes looking around to see if I could just scrape up anything. No, I couldn't. So if you've got any good jokes. A bad Christmas joke is better than no Christmas joke. That's what I said. That's right. We have a very special countdown today, Bran. You want to do it? I'm ready for it. And I'm going to wake up everybody in this hotel. Oh no.
[00:07:06] 100 days until Christmas! Woo! I hope you're in Mike Big Spectacle Trulock's hotel today. That's- I do. Mike's going to come banging on my door. 100 days brand amazing i mean scotty just to pull the curtain back a little bit we weren't gonna do a show this week because i was traveling and then we realized how big of a week it is we're like we
[00:07:33] can't just not do it what a massive letdown it would be if we crossed the 100 day mark and we were like eh just forget it big big deal today how about that i almost want to do an extra episode tomorrow just for 99 but here's what we're gonna do instead everybody i just want you to collectively think about it tomorrow that we are under 100 days tomorrow that is so exciting very exciting i can't
[00:07:58] i can't believe it honestly yeah i can't either it's been dragging and dragging and dragging and all of a sudden it's picking up steam and i'm also excited about the fact that it's only 15 days until october 1st scotty oh my goodness i mean come on that's that's two weeks we only have two more weeks of the october 1st countdown anymore and i think that the next two weeks are for those of you that like to do the check-in on the stores i think the next two
[00:08:24] weeks are going to start seeing a lot of movements big push it's big time so let's do the news let's do it today is september 15th 2026 here's the news sounds like he's also on location yeah he's at a hotel as well that's weird everybody's traveling this week we got our white christmas matt okay i don't know
[00:08:52] that's where we're at i guess the national weather service is reporting on winter weather and where to expect a white christmas amid a historic el nino coming this winter we talked about this a little bit scotty but it was el nino was was uh strong el nino grande and uh you know that based off of the thing but also basically really no hurricanes this year strong el nino really coming and clutch
[00:09:17] there but that does mean potentially good good snow specifically for you scotty i i really hope so i've read some uh articles on this as well and some people say hey pump the brakes don't don't automatically assume it's going to be a banner year but honestly back in denver anything compared to last year which was like something like 18 or 19 inches where we normally get 55 to 65 it would be a massive
[00:09:43] improvement yeah you're due that's for sure the national weather services climate prediction center has released a national white christmas map that shows the probability of getting snow on christmas the map shows the normal chance of a white christmas based on research and data from 1981 to 2010 why why stop at 2010 i don't know i don't know but that's what they did budget cuts i don't know
[00:10:09] you should be happy that we have a climate prediction center at all right now that's true um will we have a white christmas that's one of those questions that i guess people are asking and that's what this map does you can click on the link in the show notes today to go and check out this map but this is the historical probability of a white christmas and i think with the added uh juice of the el nino we
[00:10:36] might see the juice we might see these numbers a little bit higher there but uh what do we got in denver around 30 to 40 percent yeah yeah it looks like maybe 40 typical 41 to 50 oh well geez i better get my snow pants but this you know this is historic this is historic data but i don't know something to look forward to it's a great story that reminds us that cooler weather is coming i don't know about
[00:11:00] you brand but uh back in denver we finally have temperatures in the 70s this week and this is what i've been looking forward to yeah there's our local weather man is like chomping at the bit right now just dying for there to be cold weather to talk about he's like in 20 days there's the gfs is saying this the euro's not there yet and it's like man that's where we're at right now in summer we're
[00:11:26] ready for it we're ready for fall all right well this is we're in dangerous territory uh of accidentally turning this into a weather podcast so let's wrap up the news we're always right there on the edge right there yeah all right let's take a break we'll come back we will get to the christmas tv minute and today's christmas music battle of saying to bring my baby back to me here on christmas
[00:11:45] morning welcome back everybody 100 days until christmas can you believe it it's practically here scotty it is practically here and pulling the curtain back even further we're recording a day early we're recording on monday and uh mostly christmas doesn't have all the days up yet so we
[00:12:10] have a very short christmas tv minute today and i didn't do any editing in there there's going to be all sorts of garbage that you hear all the time so you want to hear it all right i'll listen we'll take what we can get on the 100 day that's right there are good christmas movies at least at the end of friday so here is your christmas tv minute courtesy of mostly christmas.com wednesday 10 a.m on tv one living single let it snow let it snow let it snow and 1 p.m on me tv plus

[00:13:32] one 6 p.m on hallmark sense sensibility and snowmen 8 p.m on hallmark family homegrown christmas and 8 p.m on hallmark christmas above the clouds and that was your christmas tv minute courtesy of mostly christmas.com now what we got over there on hallmark family there on friday night is a back-to-back laurie laughlin christmas movie because she's returning to the network on saturday with the garage sale mystery her first new movie out of prison since the uh since the college admission scandal
[00:14:00] that's exactly right oh very good good for her i guess you know why the heck no she's apologized i'm letting it go uh she's great i love laurie uh okay let's get to uh the results of last week's battle of the original songs oh right right it's a tight race scotty it's a tight race right now let's see what happened with 29.3 percent of the vote not bad for third place so christmas original version
[00:14:28] the original version okay by christmas crackers i enjoyed it it was it's a little silly i think it's a lot silly but that's not a bad thing no it's not a bad thing uh second place 34 of the vote santa says relax by joe ends and the cavalcade now scotty you brought so christmas i brought this one which means
[00:14:53] our race we're staying uh tied i believe right because the that means the listeners won 36 of the vote christmas may have to be postponed by carly jamison what does that make the race now is it like 11 11 10 or something i i'm gonna pull it up right now but it's it's close that i the listeners needed that one i know that i was excited when i saw the results come in for that one it was a close one it was a
[00:15:22] close race but uh a good race nevertheless i and i like this song by carly jamison i had a feeling this one was going to win it's just really upbeat yeah and and kind of growly vocals really enjoyed it very fun and it kind of goes uh it's a nice transition song into what we're doing this week which is santa bring my baby back to me that kind of bluesy rock ability type thing um but yes that does make the battle uh you and i scotty still tied at 11 listeners now have nine oh okay listeners got to pull it out
[00:15:52] a couple weeks in a row here i really want to see a three-way tie that would be so much fun absolutely we will see what happens let's get to this week's battle chris santa bring my baby back to me scotty you're not a fan of this song i'm not a fan of 50s rockabilly elvisy type music and i always think of elvis when it's this song and i don't know about you but almost everything i found on band camp was a
[00:16:17] karaoke version of the elvis tune yeah yeah yeah yeah we'll see if we have um a variety here uh based on my experience i don't know but let's find out uh first we have santa bring my baby back to me by nathan belt and the buckles great band name and it's a really cool band name
[00:16:37] i don't need a lot of presents to make my christmas bright well i just don't want my baby's arms all wound around me tight so santa here am i clean santa bring my baby back to me
[00:16:58] that the christmas tree is ready the candles all glow but with my baby far away one good is mistletoe so santa here am i clean santa bring my baby back to me it sure don't seem like christmas
[00:17:24] to build my sock with candy an old bright and shiny toy you wanna make me happy see that one was kind of a carbon copy of what i think of when i think of this song brand but if you like the song that's a great version for you yeah it is a carbon copy maybe slightly modernized but uh yeah pretty pretty standard let's see what we got next this is santa bring my baby back to me by
[00:17:52] navigator black and the indigo ghost i don't need it to make my christmas bright i just need my baby's arms wound around me tight old santa
[00:18:59] what i like about that one brand is it did stay true to the original but it did some instrumentation that reminded me of early 80s synth and i enjoyed that what's that thing that you can put in your mouth and you flick it and it goes you know what i'm talking about the little vibrating no i really don't know i'm getting in the weird territory now by the way i'm describing it you know what i'm talking
[00:19:21] about you're putting around that it goes no i don't know yeah okay uh all right last but not least send it from my baby back to me by davina and the vagabond a lot of presents to make my christmas
[00:19:40] bright i just don't need my baby's arms wound around me tight old santa christmas tree is ready
[00:20:36] cool piano in that one look i'm i'm bumping i'm bopping that was bouncy and fun i'm bouncing baby so we did find some different uh types of versions of this song i'm glad and yeah nothing too crazy no but three they are distinct to themselves there were no punk versions there were no ska reggae versions uh unfortunately we don't always not every song needs a punk version actually i don't even know if i believe that i don't believe that i said it anyway all right you can vote right now link is in
[00:21:06] the description a close battle every vote matters rock the vote you know what i mean we got listener submissions this week from mike trulock mary pulte kim gazereck lance garman jack underforth jeff dale john rice lenora gilbert tony dixon and michelle byerly thank you all for submitting what a crop brand pretty good crop uh all right next week is next week instrumental is it is is next week the third
[00:21:30] let me see no next week's the fourth do we do it the the fourth we do it on the last okay so that means we have another week because there's 30 uh the 30th is a wednesday so uh we gotta pick a song all right well i think we'll go into the backlog here and let's you know what let's keep the santa thing going here why don't we do santa's got a brand new bags as submitted by drew
[00:21:55] basic nice i like that sitting on brand new bag that's a fun song so go to bandcamp how was that was that good i mean indistinguishable from the original honestly thank you so go to bandcamp.com find a version of santa's got a brand new bag that you like and email it to me at christmasmorningpodcast at gmail.com and i don't think we've done this song at all brand this is not one of the brand that scott did this but listeners didn't one so i think anything is open right yeah absolutely
[00:22:22] um so go ahead vote on the battle send in battle songs for next week and we've got the 25th coming up and uh next not this coming friday but the following friday so go ahead send in some stuff for our christmas party episode uh i would we would love to hear from you how are you celebrating the 100 days till christmas all that stuff is fair game so you can send us an email christmasmorningpodcast at gmail.com if you want to be a part of our christmas party episode we've only got one more left
[00:22:51] after this month that's right uh and and go out and start to enjoy the changing seasons and the stuff arriving in stores get cozy i'm starting to feel cozy i'm getting excited scotty i'm getting excited all right we're back next week with another episode so coming back for that until then merry
[00:23:06] christmas you're about to hear some ads that help pay for our trip back and forth to the north pole feel free to listen feel free to bail now but either way thanks for being here ho ho ho ho you
