[00:01:00] [SPEAKER_05] Oh, yeah, well, Christmas crime. Yes, spreading Christmas cheer.

[00:01:03] [SPEAKER_00] Remember a couple weeks ago, you said, hey, we're going to start seeing stuff in stores.

[00:01:08] [SPEAKER_05] Yeah.

[00:01:09] [SPEAKER_00] Well, Brandon was right, so...

[00:01:11] [SPEAKER_05] It got away from us, folks.

[00:01:12] [SPEAKER_00] Can we open up the mailbag? Because we have so much.

[00:01:16] [SPEAKER_05] I think we have to.

[00:01:17] [SPEAKER_04] Letters. We get letters. We get stacks and stacks of letters.

[00:01:24] [SPEAKER_00] The first email is from Chris Davies. Chris says, I should have done this weeks ago, but summer has been crazy this year, so I'm just getting to it now. There are so many groups and Instagram pages that post this stuff, it's not worth sending you guys random things that I find. But I figured I would aggregate the new Christmas decorations that I find into a photo account with different categories for each one. I'll keep it updated for the next month or so as stuff gets posted, so if someone sees something they like, they'll know what retailer to look for.

[00:01:53] [SPEAKER_00] And then he sent a follow-up email that said, I'm up to 400 images in the decoration gallery, and I'm adding more daily. And the stores include At Home, Big Lots, Costco, Cracker Barrel, Dollar General, Dollar Tree, Hallmark, Hobby Lobby, Home Depot, Kirkland's, Kohl's, Lowe's, Pop Shelf, which I don't know what that is, Sam's Club, Spirit Halloween, Step 2, another one that I don't know what it is, Target, Tractor Supply, and Walmart. How about that?

[00:02:17] [SPEAKER_00] I put the link to this account in the link section of our website so everybody can check it out. Very good. And Chris sent a third follow-up email that said, there are going to be 45 Spirit Christmas stores this year. Sadly, none are in Colorado and none are around Greenville, though.

[00:02:34] [SPEAKER_05] It's fine. It's fine. It's whatever. I'm fine with it. But this is very helpful information here. I will say this. So we've begun seeing basically like all the Lowe's getting on board, putting out their stuff. I've not yet been personally. I'm planning on going at some point this week or this weekend.

[00:02:51] [SPEAKER_00] I have not either.

[00:02:52] [SPEAKER_05] But I was surprised to see stuff beginning to pop up in Walmart. Me too. I started seeing those posts and I'm like, I thought they might be another couple weeks away. So this is exciting.

[00:03:02] [SPEAKER_00] Yeah. I always thought it was around October 1st. I knew Lowe's has done it in September, but basically we're in October. We're a week away. So that's right.

[00:03:10] [SPEAKER_05] But my understanding is Lowe's is full go. I don't know about Home Depot yet, but Lowe's is they got it up.

[00:03:17] [SPEAKER_00] I'm going to find out this week when I go over. I need some new bolts.

[00:03:20] [SPEAKER_05] You need new bolts. I don't know. That's right.

[00:03:22] [SPEAKER_00] So Chris Davies, the official Christmas decoration correspondent of the Christmas morning podcast. Yeah, I appreciate that. That's good. I have an email from Tom Maloney. Speaking of Walmart brand, Tom says, I know Christmas in the wild sightings are more of a regular occurrence now that we're finally in the Burr months. But I saw this at my local Walmart and had to take a picture and share it with the best podcast around. It's fun to see Christmas movies being merged with popular games. I'll keep this email short since there are a lot of emails coming your way this time of year. You're right about that, Tom. And we're getting oh so close to Christmas.

[00:03:51] [SPEAKER_00] Keep up the wonderful podcast. And Tom included a photo of a games like I don't know what you call it when the little thing is right in the middle of the aisle. Yeah, that's what it is. And the ones I'm seeing here.

[00:04:04] [SPEAKER_05] Well, yeah, it's one of those like things where it's like right there in the middle of the store. Yeah, it's one of those dinkers. Yeah. And it's all games Christmas themed. We've got the Nightmare Before Christmas Monopoly. We've got Operation Grinch, which is pretty fun. That's cool. I got my eyes on this one. The Clue Home Alone edition, I think could be pretty fun.

[00:04:23] [SPEAKER_00] That sounds neat.

[00:04:24] [SPEAKER_05] Yeah. Yeah. The Christmas Vacation Monopoly. And then they got a couple of other little ones that don't.

[00:04:28] [SPEAKER_00] I'd like to check out the Christmas Vacation Monopoly. That's a pretty niche one there.

[00:04:34] [SPEAKER_05] If I liked Monopoly, I think I'd be more in. But I can only play for so long.

[00:04:38] [SPEAKER_00] Oh, I love Monopoly. Nobody will play with me. But I'd like to know what the properties are. So maybe I'll just go around looking for a game board image because that stuff makes me smile.

[00:04:47] [SPEAKER_05] Absolutely. And speaking of Walmart, it looks like Lance has us covered.

[00:04:50] [SPEAKER_00] Yeah. Lance Garment sent an email and said, it looks like Christmas has arrived at the Walmart on the eastern shore of Maryland. And it looks like Lance's Walmart is just starting to set up. It looks like Bear Isles are being filled. And honestly, Bran, that's my favorite.

[00:05:04] [SPEAKER_05] Absolutely. They don't have the trees up yet, but they've got the stuff popping up on the shelves. And do you notice what I notice here? People are looking. There's two people. Those are my people. It's not just Lance. Hello, people. Listen, people walk into Walmart and they see Christmas and they go, I mean, might as well go check it out, right?

[00:05:22] [SPEAKER_00] Yeah. Some people will scoff. And then other people, the good people like this couple here pictured in the photo, go over and check it out. Absolutely.

[00:05:30] [SPEAKER_05] Why the heck not?

[00:05:31] [SPEAKER_00] And then this is probably the best photo of all yet from our friend Joe Fulton, the Christmas aficionado. Joe said, I was at Macy's and they had their Christmas display up already. Whoa. Not even a little bit. I'm talking fully decorated trees here. I bet if you go over to the Christmas aficionado Instagram, actually, I know he posted it because I saw it yesterday. So check that out. And Joe is a great follow anyway.

[00:05:56] [SPEAKER_05] That is good. Which means they're, you know, the Macy's and the big cities might be working on their window displays.

[00:06:01] [SPEAKER_00] We have a listener who works at Macy's. That's right. I can't remember who it is. Remind this old man who you are. I know it's one of our like super regulars. And then I have an email from Chris Colpac. The subject has said, Lowe's, it has begun. Which sounds like a Bible verse to me, Bran. Okay. Lowe's, it has begun. Amen. And it's a picture of like, they do elevated displays in the main area where you'd find lawnmowers usually.

[00:06:31] [SPEAKER_00] And it looks like it's just starting to get filled in.

[00:06:33] [SPEAKER_05] Yeah. They have like the bigger lawn decorations. The big lawn stuff. Yeah.

[00:06:37] [SPEAKER_00] You sent me a YouTube video this week of somebody who had full on Lowe's was already set up.

[00:06:43] [SPEAKER_05] Yeah. It was, yeah, it was on the Instagram of the, I believe Christmas countdown show. And he went and he checked out all of the stuff at his Lowe's. And I think I'm going to do something similar. Cause I just, I got to see all this stuff in person. I got to, I, it's all, I can only kind of understand so much through the pictures. I need to. Yeah.

[00:07:02] [SPEAKER_00] I've got to touch some of it.

[00:07:04] [SPEAKER_05] I got to touch hands on Christmas.

[00:07:07] [SPEAKER_00] And I love seeing outdoor decorations. I love decorations in general and I love lights. So seeing Lowe's is always special to me. Really enjoy it. I have an email from Mary Pulte. Mary says there's a new book on the shelf. Okay. Step into the magical world of elf with this captivating oral history written by beloved comedian and actor Andy Richter who watched the on set shenanigans. That's a hard to say. On set shenanigans unfold before his very eyes and featuring a forward by Will Ferrell.

[00:07:36] [SPEAKER_00] Ever since elf hit theaters, audiences around the world have fallen in love with the story of Buddy, the charming and oversized elf with a heart of gold. And yeah, the book is called elf unwrapped by Andy Richter. I hope there's an audio version of this.

[00:07:49] [SPEAKER_05] I'm sure that there will be. I like that they say that Andy got to watch the on set shenanigans as if he wasn't in the movie. Andy's in the movie. Yeah.

[00:07:59] [SPEAKER_00] He works in the ad or the book. He works with Buddy's dad. Yeah. And then Mary sent another email.

[00:08:06] [SPEAKER_05] He's self-conscious about the way his piece smells.

[00:08:09] [SPEAKER_00] And then Mary sent another email that said Arnold Schwarzenegger transforms into Santa Claus in the movie The Man with the Bag, a Christmas action comedy like you've never seen before starring Arnold Schwarzenegger and Alan Richson coming on December 2nd on Amazon Prime. And the cover image, whatever you call that from the movie. And she said he actually looks pretty good as Santa. And boy, do I agree.

[00:08:34] [SPEAKER_05] He does look good as Santa. I'm very excited about this movie. We're definitely going to be covering it at some point on Deck the Hallmarks, so stay tuned for that. But I can't wait. Will you have me on? Yeah. Why not? Join the club. Join the party.

[00:11:45] [SPEAKER_05] It's crazy. It's a power move. Kind of. I'll tell you on my terms. Hey, the USPS has announced their holiday themed stamps for the year. This is always fun, Scotty. A little. It's another one of those little things that you look out for during the year to see when it happens. And we have them. And I got to be honest. I really like these ones. This is the Christmas cookie stamp. The forever stamps that they put out every year. Christmas themed. This year, it is cookie designed.

[00:12:16] [SPEAKER_05] The Christmas cookie forever stamps feature. Oh, these are fantastic. I just pulled up the link. I know. Four decorative sugar cookies, a Christmas tree, a stocking, a wrapped present, and Santa's face. And I love these. They look really good. They look good enough to eat. And you can buy them. They're 82 cents a pop. You can get yourself a book of 20 for $16.40.

[00:12:43] [SPEAKER_00] I think I use about three stamps a year. And I never need them around now. So I'd have to go out of my way for this. I'll try to describe them. I'll paint a word picture. They look like photographs of sugar cookies from the top down. They're really cool looking. They look amazing. I want to eat these stamps. Yeah, you'll put the link in the show notes. Check these out. Everybody loves a good Christmas cookie. And I love sugar cookies as long as they're not dry. Yeah, right. You know, not too cakey. Got to get a little gooey.

[00:13:12] [SPEAKER_00] And I love that really thick frosting on top. Not icing, but actual frosting.

[00:13:17] [SPEAKER_05] And I know we have a lot. I don't send out many Christmas cards. I know that you don't. But we have listeners that absolutely do. How do you know I don't? Do you? No. You just said you use three a year. So I did some deductive reasoning there. And we know that Cousin Seth doesn't send out Christmas cards. So like some people don't need them. But a lot of people that listen to this show do send out their Christmas cards. I know that they will be excited to see these stamps.

[00:13:44] [SPEAKER_05] And it kind of makes me want to send out Christmas cards just so that I can look at these stamps.

[00:13:50] [SPEAKER_00] They're really cool. I wish you could buy just individual ones. I don't need 20. Although I guess I'd have like a five-year supply, six-year supply. They do last forever. They are in the name. They do, yeah.

[00:14:01] [SPEAKER_05] But I guess you could try going into your local USPS and go like, can I have one single stamp, please, for 82 cents?

[00:14:08] [SPEAKER_00] Yeah, they probably have that little machine with the coins. I don't know. It's the least they could do.

[00:17:06] [SPEAKER_00] I mean, the band name alone deserved a few more votes, Scotty. It's one of the best band names of all seasons that we've done of this show. I am irrationally bothered by how few votes this guy, but it doesn't matter. I think it's because it sounded so much like the original where the other two didn't as much maybe. All right.

[00:17:25] [SPEAKER_00] It's fine. Everything's fine. You've always said you don't care for the Elvis Christmas album either.

[00:18:03] [SPEAKER_00] This one definitely sounds unique amongst the three. And full disclosure on this one, Bran, we recorded a day early last week because you were out of town. So I picked this song on Sunday night and then Monday morning, I got an email from Michelle Byerly choosing this song and I said, Hey, Michelle, this is what happened. Is it okay if I use it? She said, Yep. I hope we win. Michelle Byerly is fantastic. Fantastic.

[00:19:15] [SPEAKER_05] That gets us to this week's battle, which is Santa got a brand new bag. I got to be honest with you. This was hard because there were so few options. And I feel like every option that I heard, Scotty, was literally a different song. I don't know if there is a definitive version of this. I have no idea what happened this week, Scotty.

[00:19:35] [SPEAKER_00] Yeah. It's not one of my favorites. And I also realized that this song kind of flirts with parody territory. Okay. Because the original song is Papa's Got a Brand New Bag from James Brown. So it's a derivation of the song. So I don't know. Like, you just... You got to be okay with it. I don't think it was one of our most inspired choices. But it was certainly interesting. Like, we're just getting to the bottom of the barrel on songs that we haven't done. So I was happy to have a newish one.

[00:20:05] [SPEAKER_00] I think next year, I can almost guarantee we're going to be back in the Let's Redo songs. Yes, absolutely.
