May Christmas Party - 7 Months Until Christmas

So many Christmas shops, so little time! Happy May 25th to you!

[00:00:02] This is a Bramble Jam Podcast.

[00:00:04] Live from the North Pole, it's time for Christmas Morning, the daily show where every day is

[00:00:21] Christmas.

[00:00:22] Here are your hosts, Bram and Scott.

[00:00:25] Wow.

[00:00:26] Hello everybody.

[00:00:27] It is the 25th.

[00:00:38] It is Christmas morning.

[00:00:39] It is May 25th.

[00:00:42] It's Christmas morning.

[00:00:43] It's great to be here.

[00:00:44] I didn't want anybody listening, Scott, and being like, wait, it's December 25th?

[00:00:48] And panic.

[00:00:49] It's not.

[00:00:50] Whoa.

[00:00:51] How long did I sleep?

[00:00:52] It is the Christmas morning of May though.

[00:00:54] It is great to be here for our Christmas party episode.

[00:00:56] I'm Bram.

[00:00:57] I'm here with my good friend, Scott.

[00:00:58] Scott, Merry Christmas, pal.

[00:01:00] Merry Christmas to you, Bram.

[00:01:01] Two trips to the North Pole in one month.

[00:01:03] No, in one week.

[00:01:04] Sorry.

[00:01:05] I'm all flustered because it's been a lot of round trip travel.

[00:01:09] And also a little flustered because today for the Christmas party episode, it's just

[00:01:13] you and me.

[00:01:14] Shannon couldn't be here because of work commitments and we didn't really want to keep

[00:01:18] asking other people to take time out of their schedule at the last minute.

[00:01:22] So it's just going to be you and me.

[00:01:24] It's going to be a good old fashioned episode.

[00:01:26] Scotty, I think if people listen to this show, it means that they are okay listening to just

[00:01:32] us.

[00:01:33] And so I think we're going to be okay for the month.

[00:01:34] I think we'll be okay.

[00:01:36] Not as good as when Shannon's on.

[00:01:39] Shannon will be back in the future.

[00:01:40] We promise.

[00:01:41] Of course, of course.

[00:01:43] I think it's only fair, Scott.

[00:01:44] It's the 25th.

[00:01:45] You might be thinking to yourself, how long is it until Christmas?

[00:01:49] So without further ado, let's do the countdown.

[00:01:51] Seven months until Christmas!

[00:02:00] Seven?

[00:02:01] You kidding me right now?

[00:02:04] Seven?

[00:02:05] That's right, isn't it?

[00:02:06] Can you check my math here?

[00:02:07] So we're in May, so we got May to June, July, August, September, October, November to September.

[00:02:12] Seven months.

[00:02:13] Yep.

[00:02:14] The fingers don't lie.

[00:02:15] June 25th, Leon Day.

[00:02:16] It'll be here before you know it.

[00:02:17] That's right.

[00:02:18] Seven months.

[00:02:19] We're starting to get to the tipping point where it's going to be over that summer hump.

[00:02:23] And we can do it, Brian.

[00:02:24] I know we can.

[00:02:26] It's only like 31 days.

[00:02:27] Or actually it's like 25 days or something.

[00:02:30] Or 26 days until the days start getting shorter again, which I personally love.

[00:02:34] I don't like this nine o'clock sunlight nonsense.

[00:02:37] It's crazy.

[00:02:38] It's crazy.

[00:02:39] It's crazy.

[00:02:40] I can't believe we're almost halfway through this year.

[00:02:43] It has been flying by.

[00:02:45] And to the folks that are still listening to the show that don't just listen during the

[00:02:50] holiday season, of course we still like those people as well.

[00:02:52] But the people that listen in May, like just thank you.

[00:02:56] Like amazing.

[00:02:57] Can't believe people do it.

[00:03:01] Scottie, every 25th we like to really spotlight our listeners and let them kind of steer the

[00:03:09] direction of this show.

[00:03:10] And I know we got a lot of fun stuff today.

[00:03:12] A lot of people have seen some cool stuff.

[00:03:15] So what do we got going on today, Scottie?

[00:03:17] Well, this is a little interesting here because we don't tell people specifically what to

[00:03:22] submit.

[00:03:23] This is listener supplied content.

[00:03:25] If it's Christmas related, we love to showcase it.

[00:03:28] We got three submissions this month, all about visiting Christmas stores, which is

[00:03:34] a little tricky because this is an audio medium.

[00:03:37] But if anybody can do this, I believe we can.

[00:03:39] So I think we can.

[00:03:40] I guess we're going to call this first segment Christmas stores.

[00:03:45] Let's go to the Christmas store.

[00:03:50] Have ourselves a wonderful time.

[00:03:53] I can't wait to see what they have in store.

[00:03:59] That was excellent, Bran.

[00:04:00] It's in store.

[00:04:01] It's what it is.

[00:04:02] We're going to a store.

[00:04:03] In store.

[00:04:04] Yeah, yeah, yeah.

[00:04:05] It was awesome.

[00:04:06] So our first email today is from Nicholas St. Nick Linsman.

[00:04:10] Nick told us a couple of months ago that he always goes to Bronner's on his anniversary.

[00:04:15] And he said, when I go this year, I'm going to send photos.

[00:04:19] And boy, did he come through on this one.

[00:04:21] So Bran, I put all the photos in our document that we use here so you could see them.

[00:04:26] I'm also going to take all these photos and post them on our Instagram.

[00:04:29] There's so many, I'll probably have to do two separate posts.

[00:04:32] Goodness gracious.

[00:04:33] But it's worth it.

[00:04:34] Scotty, for the people at home, what is Bronner's?

[00:04:36] Maybe they don't know what Bronner's is.

[00:04:38] Bronner's is the world's largest Christmas store in Frankenmuth, Michigan.

[00:04:43] It's the mecca.

[00:04:44] It's the mecca for Christmas lovers like us, Scotty.

[00:04:46] I've never been.

[00:04:47] You've never been, right?

[00:04:48] I've never been either.

[00:04:49] I've never been to Michigan.

[00:04:51] You and I should go together.

[00:04:53] We should experience it for the first time together as a pair.

[00:04:56] I need to email them and be like, hey, will you just fly us there?

[00:04:59] We'll do a show live at Bronner's.

[00:05:01] Why not?

[00:05:02] Yeah, yeah.

[00:05:03] Come on.

[00:05:04] We'll do a show live from there.

[00:05:05] That would be incredible.

[00:05:06] If anybody knows Mr. or Mrs. Bronner, please write in.

[00:05:08] But Nick wrote in and said, my wife and I come here, here being Bronner's, every year

[00:05:13] for our anniversary.

[00:05:14] And we get one custom family ornament with our names and our cats.

[00:05:18] The cats are Captain and Penelope.

[00:05:20] We also pick out one ornament each.

[00:05:22] She got one that said, I'd rather be up north because she's from Traverse City, Michigan.

[00:05:27] I picked out Tommy Pickles from Rugrats.

[00:05:29] Now, I don't know what Tommy Pickles is, Brian.

[00:05:31] I'm sure you do.

[00:05:32] I do know what Tommy Pickles is.

[00:05:34] Tommy Pickles is a little baby from Rugrats.

[00:05:36] No surprise there.

[00:05:37] And it is cute and I love it.

[00:05:38] Okay.

[00:05:39] Well, now that you've filled me in, I'm aware of who the baby is.

[00:05:42] The pictures won't do this place justice, but it's absolutely incredible.

[00:05:46] So much color, lights, beautiful cheeriness, and the Christmas music is always on.

[00:05:51] We love it.

[00:05:52] It's a special place and I get to enjoy it with my wife.

[00:05:55] I'm a man of my word.

[00:05:56] So hopefully you'll enjoy some of these photos.

[00:05:58] It's truly amazing and beautiful.

[00:06:00] Now, of course we knew that Nick was going to send in photos.

[00:06:02] Of course you're a man of your word, but that was never in question.

[00:06:05] Brian, how about these photos?

[00:06:07] It's amazing.

[00:06:08] I do want to spotlight a couple of things because there's so much going on there.

[00:06:12] Okay.

[00:06:13] Now follow along on our Instagram, XmasMorningPod.

[00:06:15] I'm going to make sure that they are posted by the time this episode airs.

[00:06:20] So I already set a reminder on my phone so that people can immediately go and look.

[00:06:24] There is a Christmas tree that is white at the bottom and red on top, and it curves at

[00:06:31] the top of it.

[00:06:33] It's very Seussical, wouldn't you say?

[00:06:35] It is Seussical, but I don't know if this is something I should know.

[00:06:39] Like is it a thing from it?

[00:06:42] I don't recall this in the Dr. Seuss, but I don't know.

[00:06:47] But I think it looks like a Santa hat.

[00:06:49] Isn't that what they're going for?

[00:06:50] Oh yeah, I missed it altogether.

[00:06:54] That makes more sense.

[00:06:55] That's okay.

[00:06:56] That's fun.

[00:06:57] That's why I asked the question.

[00:06:58] I like a decoration you have to think about, you know?

[00:06:59] I was telling somebody the other day that I've never looked at a painting and been like,

[00:07:05] man, this is really touching my soul.

[00:07:07] I don't really get that art.

[00:07:09] I'm more of like music and stuff like that.

[00:07:11] That speaks to me.

[00:07:12] This is clearly, it was clearly over my head.

[00:07:15] I didn't get it.

[00:07:16] I looked at it and I just said, I don't understand what this is.

[00:07:19] So thank you, Scotty.

[00:07:20] I appreciate you contributing and explaining it to me.

[00:07:23] Really?

[00:07:24] No paintings do it for you?

[00:07:25] No.

[00:07:26] Like Magritte, the guy with the apple in front of his face that doesn't do it or a Sundown

[00:07:29] La Grande Jatte by Seurat?

[00:07:31] I've never seen a painting that moved me.

[00:07:33] Okay.

[00:07:34] Well, you got all your life.

[00:07:35] We got time.

[00:07:36] We will find one.

[00:07:37] Okay?

[00:07:38] I've never seen a painting that moved me.

[00:07:39] Songs and movies have made me cry for very long periods of time.

[00:07:43] I've never been moved by a painting, but I'm glad it works for a lot of people.

[00:07:47] I'm just, I'm just, Hey, I'm just trying to be vulnerable here, Scotty.

[00:07:50] The scream that doesn't do it?

[00:07:52] Nah, it does nothing for me.

[00:07:53] Okay.

[00:07:54] Yeah, that's fine.

[00:07:55] All right.

[00:07:56] Well, this is not an art appreciation podcast anyway, but this Bronner's looks absolutely

[00:08:00] amazing.

[00:08:01] There's a photo, I believe of Nick and his wife, unless he just took a picture of two

[00:08:04] randos at the end.

[00:08:05] That would be weird.

[00:08:06] Yeah.

[00:08:07] Is that what it looks like?

[00:08:08] One of those long neck dinosaurs that's all lit up with the green?

[00:08:12] Yeah.

[00:08:13] It looks like the gas station logo that has the dinosaur, doesn't it?

[00:08:16] It does.

[00:08:17] There's like this Santa that is a lit up, like it's like a lawn Santa ornament or something,

[00:08:23] but I've never seen one lit up in this way.

[00:08:26] It's a very unique style of light.

[00:08:30] It's unique.

[00:08:31] Is it pixels?

[00:08:32] What is it?

[00:08:33] It's amazing.

[00:08:34] So definitely go check these photos out.

[00:08:36] So much stuff.

[00:08:37] And it looks like there's something here for every taste.

[00:08:39] And I love Christmas stores like that because I'm not into like, let's say food related

[00:08:45] ornaments.

[00:08:46] That doesn't do it for me, but I know there are people that that's their thing and they

[00:08:49] have their own section.

[00:08:50] So we all have something.

[00:08:52] Another reason I would love to experience this with you because there'd be things that

[00:08:57] you were drawn to.

[00:08:58] There'd be things that I'm drawn to like maybe art stuff on trees.

[00:09:01] I don't know.

[00:09:02] And it would be so much fun.

[00:09:03] So someday we're going to make it there, Brandon.

[00:09:06] It's very cool.

[00:09:07] We got to get there, Scott.

[00:09:08] We got to get there.

[00:09:09] Okay.

[00:09:10] The next one is from Lenora Gilbert.

[00:09:12] Now friend of the show, Lenora Gilbert, our Christmas freak on the streets.

[00:09:16] She sent in an audio report with photos.

[00:09:19] So again, these will also be on our Instagram, but let's listen to what Lenora had to say.

[00:09:26] Hello, all you Christmas morning party people.

[00:09:30] It's Lenora here, your Arizona Christmas freak on the street reporting to you today

[00:09:34] about how I put a little Christmas in my California road trip.

[00:09:38] I spent a few days camping on the beach in San Diego.

[00:09:41] The weather was perfect.

[00:09:43] And every time I visit San Diego, I have to visit one of my favorite stores, City Lights

[00:09:48] Collectibles.

[00:09:50] This store is a year round Christmas store.

[00:09:52] It started in 1991 and it's open 361 days a year.

[00:09:57] It's 40,000 square feet of Christmas, Christmas, Christmas, and a small Halloween closet.

[00:10:04] They carry many brands of villages, ornaments, lights, trees, and many other collectibles.

[00:10:11] I can spend hours in this place going through the multiple rooms and Christmas displays.

[00:10:16] The staff are friendly.

[00:10:18] I was able to undecorate a tree of a set of light covers as it was the last set.

[00:10:23] I picked up a Egyptian glass ornament, a glass candle ornament, and a few more shiny

[00:10:29] balls.

[00:10:30] It was really hard to stick to my budget.

[00:10:32] Anyways, if you're ever in San Diego, take a break for fun.

[00:10:37] It's a beautiful Christmas infusion.

[00:10:39] The store is just off the I-5 and the C World exit.

[00:10:45] And happy Christmas party, everybody.

[00:10:47] Brian, this sounds amazing.

[00:10:49] Now first, I'll commend Lenora for camping on the beach, something I sure don't want

[00:10:53] to do.

[00:10:54] But it's neat that she did it.

[00:10:56] But this store in San Diego looks amazing.

[00:11:00] In a way, don't all Christmas stores kind of look alike at a certain distance?

[00:11:06] But then they have their own unique character.

[00:11:08] And there seems to be a character to this store.

[00:11:10] There's a whimsy to it in these photos and I would encourage everyone to go to the Instagram

[00:11:14] and look at these.

[00:11:15] I'd like to visit this store, Brian.

[00:11:17] It is very, very cool.

[00:11:19] Not a lot, but it's different.

[00:11:23] You see a lot of red and green ornaments, obviously, and Christmas decorations.

[00:11:28] This is a lot of different colors.

[00:11:31] You got some pink stuff.

[00:11:32] You've got some just bright colors that aren't your traditional Christmas colors.

[00:11:39] Lots of cool stuff here.

[00:11:40] Very, very unique.

[00:11:41] I feel like it's a little bit of a California feel to an otherwise red and green traditional

[00:11:48] It just looks fun.

[00:11:50] I want to visit this.

[00:11:52] Thank you, Lenora, for sending that in.

[00:11:53] Man, I'm a little bit jealous.

[00:11:55] I'm not a little bit jealous, Brian.

[00:11:57] I'm a lot of bit jealous of all of these.

[00:11:59] And we still have one more to go.

[00:12:00] Scotty, do you have a Christmas store in your area?

[00:12:04] Kind of.

[00:12:05] It's not great, but I do have personal experience with the next email from Frank Napier.

[00:12:10] So let's read that one and I'll give you some personal anecdotes.

[00:12:14] From Frank Napier, he said, Hey guys, we've been on vacation here in Florida for the

[00:12:18] past week.

[00:12:19] Well, today we decided to go to Clearwater, Florida for some fun in the sun and found

[00:12:23] this gem on the way there.

[00:12:25] It is a huge store and did not disappoint.

[00:12:28] Their Christmas tree section was amazing.

[00:12:31] The whole store was beautiful.

[00:12:32] It's definitely a must see for anybody planning to be in the area.

[00:12:35] It reminded me of a mini Bronner's.

[00:12:38] Brian, the store is called Robert's Christmas Wonderland.

[00:12:41] I lived about 15 minutes from this store for many, many years when I lived in Tampa.

[00:12:47] And I went here five, six times a year.

[00:12:51] Oh wow.

[00:12:52] Maybe like we didn't go every month and it wasn't quite every other month, but my wife

[00:12:56] and I loved going here.

[00:12:58] It's the biggest Christmas store I've ever been to.

[00:13:01] I'm sure it's nothing like Bronner's.

[00:13:03] In fact, you know, Frank says it's like a mini Bronner's, but it's similar to what we were

[00:13:07] talking about, having all those little sections of cool stuff.

[00:13:11] You want like Mardi Gras style trees?

[00:13:14] Well, they got a whole line of them.

[00:13:15] You want Disney collectibles?

[00:13:17] There's a section just on that.

[00:13:19] And Frank is absolutely right that the star of the show at this place is the Christmas

[00:13:24] tree section because if you look at the photos, there's one that kind of looks like an archway.

[00:13:29] Yes.

[00:13:30] And it has Christmas trees on both sides.

[00:13:32] That's the entrance to the back room where the Christmas trees are.

[00:13:36] And it's like this massive cave of Christmas trees and up on the ceiling, it's covered

[00:13:42] in lights.

[00:13:43] It looks like they have so many stars on the ceiling.

[00:13:46] It looks like Christmas lights on the ceiling.

[00:13:49] It looks like stars.

[00:13:51] It looks like you're looking up at nighttime because the ceiling's black and it's got all

[00:13:54] these white lights.

[00:13:55] It's amazing.

[00:13:57] It's beautiful.

[00:13:58] Dude, we went in, I would say probably September of 2012 right before we moved to Colorado

[00:14:06] and we went in the back and the lights weren't all on.

[00:14:09] And we found the guy and said, hey, look, we're moving.

[00:14:12] This is our last time experiencing this.

[00:14:14] And he went and he turned on everything for us, turned up the music.

[00:14:19] It was awesome.

[00:14:20] And just the nicest people there and an amazing, amazing selection.

[00:14:25] I don't have words really for how great it is.

[00:14:28] If you're ever in the Clearwater area, definitely check this place out.

[00:14:32] I went once a little too early in the year.

[00:14:34] It was like March and they were ripping up the floors and he's like, oh, sorry, we're

[00:14:39] open, but we're doing a lot of maintenance right now while the crowds are low.

[00:14:43] It was kind of like seeing Santa in his underpants.

[00:14:45] It just wasn't a great experience.

[00:14:47] And we were like, oh.

[00:14:48] And we didn't go back until well after Christmas in July.

[00:14:51] I got to be honest, I'm looking at the first couple pictures.

[00:14:55] I'm kind of like, it's fine.

[00:14:56] But once you get to the Christmas tree area, this looks amazing.

[00:15:01] It's gorgeous.

[00:15:02] So I got to check this out.

[00:15:03] I'm flying into Tampa, so maybe I should scurry on over.

[00:15:07] Oh, Brian, if you can make this happen, I promise you will not be disappointed.

[00:15:13] Even if it's an inconvenience to get over there, it is so great.

[00:15:16] And it's not far from the airport.

[00:15:18] I mean, 20 minutes maybe.

[00:15:20] I'll see what I can do.

[00:15:21] Cool.

[00:15:22] Why don't we take a quick break?

[00:15:23] When we come back, we'll talk a little bit about Christmas decorating, and then we have

[00:15:27] a review from Jill Fulton, the Christmas aficionado.

[00:15:29] Sound good?

[00:15:30] Oh, perfect.

[00:15:31] I can't wait.

[00:15:32] Welcome back, everybody, to Christmas Morning.

[00:15:39] It's the Christmas party episode.

[00:15:42] We're having a wonderful time today hearing about everybody's Christmas journeys.

[00:15:47] But we got so much more in store for you today.

[00:15:49] So Scotty, take it away.

[00:15:50] Okay.

[00:15:51] We have one email here about Christmas decorating.

[00:15:53] You want to do a quick intro for us?

[00:15:56] Put up the trees, put up the lights, put up the decorations tonight.

[00:16:00] It's Christmas decorations.

[00:16:04] I'm telling you, you are the Led Zeppelin of Christmas introductions.

[00:16:07] Wow.

[00:16:08] You should be doing this every month.

[00:16:09] How about that?

[00:16:10] Okay.

[00:16:11] So I have an email from Chris Matansky who says, I just wanted to share some exciting

[00:16:15] news.

[00:16:16] I finally won a debate with my wife about when we can put up Christmas decorations.

[00:16:21] While we've always agreed that the first weekend of November is a good starting point,

[00:16:25] I encountered a scheduling conflict due to a mountain biking event.

[00:16:28] I suggested putting up the decorations the weekend before, but my wife was not on board.

[00:16:33] You know what they say, happy wife, happy life.

[00:16:35] That is very true.

[00:16:36] However, this year I managed to win the argument because we are expecting our first child on

[00:16:42] November 17th.

[00:16:43] With our lives about to undergo a major change, my wife agreed to let me decorate early so

[00:16:47] we can bring our baby home to a warm, loving environment.

[00:16:52] As of now, we don't know the gender of the baby, but if it's a girl, we decided on the

[00:16:55] middle name Noel.

[00:16:57] It seems fitting, doesn't it?

[00:16:59] Merry Christmas to everyone and here's to enjoying the peaceful nights before the arrival

[00:17:02] of a bundle of joy who might just disrupt our sleep.

[00:17:06] Well, I got news for you.

[00:17:07] It's not a might.

[00:17:08] There's no might about this whatsoever.

[00:17:10] It's definitely not going to be a silent night, Chris.

[00:17:13] It will not be any silent nights for a little while.

[00:17:16] It will be simultaneously the best job and the worst job you've ever had in your life,

[00:17:21] but I promise it's worth it.

[00:17:23] There's nothing better than having a kid, obviously.

[00:17:26] Well, I don't know.

[00:17:27] You ever tried caramel?

[00:17:29] Man, those are good.

[00:17:31] But if you're afraid of Christmas, having a kid really, it just like enhances it.

[00:17:36] It enhances, it's like 3D glasses.

[00:17:39] You know, you were seeing Christmas in 2D and then you have a kid and it's suddenly like

[00:17:43] this whole new world.

[00:17:44] So Chris, buckle up.

[00:17:46] It's going to be a wild ride, but it's going to be so worth it.

[00:17:50] It's going to enhance it.

[00:17:51] It's going to be awesome.

[00:17:52] Yeah.

[00:17:53] Congratulations.

[00:17:54] We'd love to hear more about it as the big day comes along and definitely send us pictures

[00:18:00] as you start the decorating.

[00:18:02] We love that and Brian, that'll be November 17th.

[00:18:05] We'll be daily by then.

[00:18:07] We'll have a lot of content to keep you company, Chris, in those long days, longer nights.

[00:18:13] I do want to say if you have a boy, Bran, Scott, lots of good options.

[00:18:22] Lots of good options.

[00:18:23] Santa, those are all good names.

[00:18:24] Yeah.

[00:18:25] Maybe if it's a girl, Shannon Noel, that's nice.

[00:18:28] Jax, Noel.

[00:18:29] These are good options.

[00:18:30] These are good options.

[00:18:31] Alonzo.

[00:18:32] Alonzo is a great name too.

[00:18:33] Oh my gosh.

[00:18:34] Maybe we could do like a naming contest and they would have to name their kid based on

[00:18:38] what the listeners want.

[00:18:39] Probably not on board with this.

[00:18:40] Yeah, let's put it as a poll.

[00:18:41] Yeah, vote link is in the description.

[00:18:42] A poll for all, yeah.

[00:18:43] You have to go with it, whatever the listeners choose.

[00:18:49] All right.

[00:18:50] Well, before we lose Chris as a listener, let's do our last segment today, Christmas

[00:18:53] television.

[00:18:54] I like TV.

[00:18:55] I like movies.

[00:18:56] Can someone tell me what happened in that TV and movie?

[00:18:57] Yeah.

[00:18:58] Very nice.

[00:18:59] Christmas and movies, TVs and stuff.

[00:19:00] Very nice.

[00:19:01] Got a little away from me there at the end.

[00:19:02] And what's really fun, Brian, is we mentioned these things once in a while while we're reading

[00:19:26] the TV listings and we just kind of drop this off head comment like, oh, I'd love Joe to

[00:19:30] review that one.

[00:19:31] And what's that about?

[00:19:32] Well, that's what happened this month because he reviewed the Adam 12 episode called The

[00:19:36] Yellow Dump Truck.

[00:19:37] And I remember asking you, what does this have to do with Christmas?

[00:19:41] Well, Joe is going to give us the answer we've been waiting for.

[00:19:44] One Adam 12, one Adam 12.

[00:19:47] Based on true incidents from the LAPD case files, the names of the characters in this

[00:19:51] review are changed to protect the innocent.

[00:19:54] Here's my review of the first Christmas episode of Adam 12, Log 122, Yellow Dump Truck.

[00:20:01] During the Christmas Eve shift, Officers Malloy and Reed are delivering donated toys to families

[00:20:05] in need.

[00:20:07] This includes the Ward family where they meet Harvey Ward whose Christmas wish is for a

[00:20:11] yellow toy dump truck.

[00:20:12] What I want is a dump truck.

[00:20:15] No kidding.

[00:20:16] A yellow dump truck.

[00:20:18] What would you do with it?

[00:20:19] Put stuff in it and raise up the back end and dump it out.

[00:20:23] Pulling at their hearts, the officers head to the toy store and purchase a yellow dump

[00:20:26] truck, meeting with Harvey's mother and giving her his special Christmas gift.

[00:20:31] Merry Christmas Mrs. Ward.

[00:20:32] Thanks, and I hope you have a happy new year.

[00:20:40] You shouldn't have done that.

[00:20:42] Done what?

[00:20:44] After arresting a drunk driver who partook in Christmas spirits, they discover that Mrs.

[00:20:48] Ward's car was stolen with Harvey's yellow dump truck still in the trunk.

[00:20:53] Somebody stole my car and I came down to report it.

[00:20:56] What happened?

[00:20:57] I went to this Christmas tree lot and somebody stole my car.

[00:21:00] When I got back to the car with the tree, it was gone.

[00:21:03] So you took the toys out of the car, didn't you?

[00:21:06] No, I never got the chance.

[00:21:08] Eventually, the stolen car is found and the man responsible is arrested.

[00:21:11] But I swear I never even knew the toys were in the trunk.

[00:21:14] I mean, you gotta be a real creep to steal toys from kids.

[00:21:18] Especially on Christmas Eve.

[00:21:20] Realizing the man has no idea the trunk was filled with Christmas presents, the sergeant

[00:21:24] releases the toys from the evidence locker and allows officers Malloy and Reed to deliver

[00:21:28] the dump truck.

[00:21:29] So, final thoughts.

[00:21:30] Adam 12 was a procedural show and often focused on the officers and less about the residents

[00:21:35] they serve.

[00:21:36] I enjoyed seeing the officers purchase the yellow dump truck for Harvey, but we didn't

[00:21:40] get the satisfaction of seeing young Harvey receive the toy.

[00:21:43] I give this episode a C.

[00:21:45] That's my review of Adam 12, Log 122, Yellow Dump Truck from the first season.

[00:21:50] What Christmas episode should I review next?

[00:21:53] You can easily find that episode online.

[00:21:55] If you watch it, let me know what you think.

[00:21:57] I'm the Christmas Aficionado and remember, stay off the naughty list.

[00:22:57] It's a huge Christmas party.

[00:22:59] It was the initial Christmas party, Scott.

[00:23:02] We started these episodes because of June 25th.

[00:23:05] We were like, we gotta celebrate that we're halfway to Christmas and then it stuck from

[00:23:09] there.

[00:23:10] So, please go ahead and start sending some stuff in.

[00:23:12] How are you celebrating six months until Christmas?

[00:23:15] Anything else you want to tell us about, ChristmasMoneyPodcast.gmail.com.

[00:23:19] Go ahead and submit it because it'll be here before you know it.

[00:23:22] Sure will.

[00:23:23] And Scottie, a reminder to you and to the listeners, we will not have a Christmas morning

[00:23:28] episode next week.

[00:23:30] Memorial Day, traveling, all that good stuff.

[00:23:33] But we will be back the first Wednesday of June.

[00:23:36] If you want to submit a song for Holiday Road, you can still do that.

[00:23:40] You guys still got plenty of time.

[00:23:42] You can send in those submissions.

[00:23:43] You know what?

[00:23:44] If you want, while you're eating a hamburger or a hot dog on Monday at a cookout, hum a

[00:23:48] little Christmas music to yourself.

[00:23:50] Do it in our honor.

[00:23:51] We'd love that.

[00:23:52] Can I tell you something real quick?

[00:23:54] Yeah.

[00:23:55] You know how I have the radio station at Christmas time that switches to all Christmas music

[00:24:01] and they also switch randomly?

[00:24:03] Yes.

[00:24:04] The past couple of years, I've done Memorial Day.

[00:24:06] Oh, I didn't know that.

[00:24:07] That station's no longer around.

[00:24:09] It's gone.

[00:24:10] Do you think it's because of their decision to play Christmas music at random times throughout

[00:24:14] the year?

[00:24:15] Apparently, from what I got, I don't know all the ins and outs.

[00:24:20] Locally, you have your I Heart and your Odyssey and whatnot.

[00:24:25] You can only have, I think, four stations in a certain region or else it becomes like

[00:24:32] a monopoly or something.

[00:24:34] A single owner can only have so many in an area.

[00:24:37] Yes.

[00:24:38] And I guess they had too many and this was the one they dropped.

[00:24:40] They dropped the Adult Contemporary channel.

[00:24:44] Shame.

[00:24:45] That's messed up.

[00:24:46] Shame.

[00:24:47] That's messed up.

[00:24:48] I gotta be honest, Scotty.

[00:24:49] I don't know if this holiday season I'm going to have a 24-7 Christmas channel, much less

[00:24:56] Memorial Day weekend.

[00:24:58] Well, maybe we should just focus then on your year-round Christmas station, put some extra

[00:25:03] content in there and do something like that.

[00:25:05] Fill the void.

[00:25:06] All right.

[00:25:07] All right.

[00:25:08] I like that.

[00:25:09] One less shark in the tank, Bran.

[00:25:10] That's right.

[00:25:11] You're right.

[00:25:12] You're right, Scott.

[00:25:13] Don't mourn.

[00:25:14] Use the opportunity to be the change.

[00:25:15] Be the change you want to see in this world.

[00:25:17] Don't cry because it's over.

[00:25:18] Smile because it happened, right?

[00:25:19] That's exactly right.

[00:25:20] We'll see you guys in a couple of weeks.

[00:25:23] Until then, Merry Christmas.

[00:25:25] You're about to hear some ads that help pay for our trip back and forth to the North Pole.

[00:25:39] Feel free to listen.

[00:25:40] Feel free to bail now.

[00:25:41] But either way, thanks for being here.

[00:25:44] Ho, ho, ho.
