[00:00:02] This is a Bramble Jam Podcast

[00:00:05] I'm from the North Pole, it's time for Christmas Morning, the daily show where every day is Christmas. Here are your hosts, Brand and...

[00:00:33] Well, well, well, hello everybody! It's almost time, well it is time for this, you know what I'm saying, I'm Brand, I'm here with Scott, Scott, Merry Christmas!

[00:00:43] Merry Christmas, Brandon, and we're on the last day of the regular season for 2024.

[00:00:50] That's what I'm trying to say, yes, I got ahead of myself a bit, I'm so excited.

[00:00:55] I had a really good idea though. Okay. Starting this Friday, we should just go daily.

[00:01:00] I say this Friday, we go daily, and then we just take a couple days off. That's a good idea, yeah.

[00:01:06] And we come back on Monday and we really do it. We'll soft launch our daily on Friday. Friends and family!

[00:01:12] Ironically, the day that we go daily, we will have technically been daily since today. But because of tomorrow, Halloween...

[00:01:21] It's a thing, it's a whole thing. We really should have started Monday, but...

[00:01:25] Should we just take Friday off? Maybe, I don't know, but...

[00:01:28] Maybe. But, I have so much to get to today, and I have exciting news about the mailbag, so do you mind if I open it up right now?

[00:01:35] Please do.

[00:01:37] Letters! We get letters! We get stacks and stacks of letters!

[00:01:43] The exciting news is really more for you and me. It's not really for the listeners as much, but the good news is, as of the emails that I've added today, we're at inbox zero.

[00:01:54] Wow!

[00:01:55] We finally made it through everything. You know, and I've been moving around and leaving Halloween stuff in there and everything. It's been very stressful that I was going to forget someone, but I don't think I did. So, let's get into it.

[00:02:08] It's good news until Friday.

[00:02:09] Well, that's true. Yeah, that's true. We're not going to have very much on Friday.

[00:02:13] So, the first email today is from David Scarborough. David said,

[00:02:16] I was listening to the Tinsel Tunes episode of Silly Christmas Music, and the singer in one of the songs was Danny Kaye.

[00:02:23] This reminded me of going to see White Christmas every year in the movie theater with my mom and kids.

[00:02:28] I just got tickets to see it on December 15th this year.

[00:02:32] Some other Christmas movies we are going to this year are Polar Express, Gremlins, and Christmas Vacation.

[00:02:38] And David added a note that Christmas Vacation hits way different on the big screen.

[00:02:43] And he finishes the email by saying, my kids love it. They're ages 10, 16, and 20.

[00:02:49] Now, Brian, I have an 11-year-old, and I don't have three children, but I imagine it's hard to find something that pleases all of them at the same time.

[00:02:58] So, doing the Lord's work over there, David.

[00:03:01] I'm just impressed that David has his theater visits planned out for the duration of the year. That's just, he's a planner.

[00:03:07] It's really cool. I never thought of seeing Christmas Vacation on the big screen, but if I see it as an opportunity back in Denver, I'll do it. It sounds great.

[00:03:17] I saw White Christmas on the big screen a couple years ago. It was like for the, I don't know, some big benchmark year. And it was a lot of fun.

[00:03:26] That sounds great.

[00:03:27] I like seeing older movies on the big screen.

[00:03:30] I do, too. There was a great theater in Tampa called the Tampa Theater, and it was a 1920s theater. Everything was restored and original, and that was a lot of fun to see old movies at.

[00:03:40] You know what was not original was the name of that movie theater. My goodness.

[00:03:43] But yeah, well.

[00:03:45] What do we call, what can we possibly call this?

[00:03:48] They waited till the last second. They were like, I don't know.

[00:03:51] Hear me out. Tampa Theater.

[00:03:53] I have an email from Brianne Cummings. Brianne says, Jimmy Fallon is releasing a holiday comedy album starting November 1st.

[00:04:00] Some of the songs may be familiar because he's released a few of them previously with other musical stars like Meghan Trainor and Dolly Parton.

[00:04:07] I was writing to let you know that about one song in particular called Hallmark Movie.

[00:04:12] It's a duet with Cara, ooh, this is a tough one.

[00:04:17] Delevingne? Does that sound familiar to you, Brianne?

[00:04:20] Delevingne.

[00:04:20] Something like that.

[00:04:21] We'll go with one of those. Cara D.

[00:04:23] Cara is a princess in the song and Jimmy owns a hardware store.

[00:04:26] However, this is a comedy song, so by the end they realize they're not in a Hallmark movie, but a Lifetime movie.

[00:04:32] We're so close to November 1st, and I cannot wait.

[00:04:35] Merry Christmas, everyone.

[00:04:36] Thank you, Brianne.

[00:04:37] Thank you, Brianne.

[00:04:38] I heard about this, although it sounds like you've already heard the song, so you're giving us the full breakdown on the Hallmark song.

[00:04:45] I didn't realize that was out, so I got to go check it out.

[00:04:47] I'm looking forward to checking it out.

[00:04:49] I've got an email from Trish Madonia.

[00:04:51] Trish says, my husband is an over-the-top kind of guy.

[00:04:54] One example is the 60-foot flagpole he installed in our yard this summer.

[00:04:59] But he outdid himself when he came up with this idea to make a lighted Christmas tree on that flagpole.

[00:05:05] I like that she gave us no other information about that.

[00:05:09] You think he just came inside?

[00:05:10] Hey, honey, I just finished.

[00:05:12] Check out that pole.

[00:05:13] Check out that pole.

[00:05:14] He sketched it out by hand, did the math, and laid out all the ground with wires, then literally pulled it up the flagpole.

[00:05:20] We had to wait until dark to see if it worked.

[00:05:22] And boy, it did not disappoint.

[00:05:24] He even figured out how to add colored bulbs as a decoration.

[00:05:28] I've included a photo that shows him standing under it so you can get the perspective.

[00:05:33] Oh, my gosh.

[00:05:34] I didn't even see him under there.

[00:05:36] Isn't it amazing?

[00:05:37] I'm going to post this to our Instagram.

[00:05:40] This thing dwarfs him.

[00:05:41] How the heck?

[00:05:42] This is so big.

[00:05:44] How did he install that pole to begin with?

[00:05:46] There's a question that I have.

[00:05:47] It seems like at least a two-person job, I'm going to be honest.

[00:05:51] At minimum, yes.

[00:05:53] And probably a crane.

[00:05:54] But otherwise, she finished his email.

[00:05:57] Thanks for all you do.

[00:05:57] Figured you would really appreciate this incredible feat.

[00:06:00] I absolutely appreciate this incredible feat.

[00:06:03] And, Brian, it's not just the lights that just go straight up the pole like in a triangular shape.

[00:06:09] He's got the zigzags, the wiggly whams on the Christmas tree.

[00:06:15] Yeah.

[00:06:15] Anybody can do perfectly straight lines to make a Christmas tree.

[00:06:19] And this.

[00:06:19] Exactly.

[00:06:20] Even I could pull that one off.

[00:06:21] This gives the tree.

[00:06:22] It looks awesome.

[00:06:24] So, congrats on that.

[00:06:25] Great job.

[00:06:25] It's so cool.

[00:06:26] Thank you, Trish, for sending this in.

[00:06:28] I want to know, that flagpole, you said it's 60 feet tall?

[00:06:32] 60 feet.

[00:06:33] Would you touch the Grinch with that large of a pole?

[00:06:36] Or is that big enough?

[00:06:38] I think so, yeah.

[00:06:39] You think so?

[00:06:40] You think so?

[00:06:41] So, it looks great.

[00:06:42] That's our emails.

[00:06:43] And we're at inbox zero.

[00:06:45] Now, there is one more email that's in there.

[00:06:48] So, it's not technically zero.

[00:06:50] But it's our new jingle that we're going to debut on Friday from Little Red Ambulance.

[00:06:57] Isn't that awesome?

[00:06:58] You know what?

[00:06:59] It's just good to see.

[00:07:02] Sometimes you throw things out on the air and you never know what's going to be the thing

[00:07:05] that actually happens.

[00:07:06] And so, the fact that it's happening is very exciting.

[00:07:08] Yeah, we should say other things that would just be cool.

[00:07:11] Like, hey, Brian, imagine if a pickup truck full of bacon showed up at my house.

[00:07:15] For sure.

[00:07:16] Money!

[00:07:17] I'll go for the bacon, actually.

[00:07:19] Fair enough.

[00:07:19] How are we doing in the review department?

[00:07:22] The same old, same old, Scotty.

[00:07:24] The reviews have come to an end.

[00:07:26] And you know what?

[00:07:26] That might be it for the year.

[00:07:28] I don't really know at this point.

[00:07:30] But it's been a good run.

[00:07:32] It's been a good run this year.

[00:07:33] Lots of kind reviews.

[00:07:35] So, what did we end up with?

[00:07:36] Like 280-something, maybe?

[00:07:38] Let me give you the final count currently on Apple Podcasts.

[00:07:42] How about that?

[00:07:43] So, Apple Podcasts is saying we currently have 262 reviews.

[00:07:49] But we have at least 20 international reviews.

[00:07:52] So...

[00:07:52] At least.

[00:07:53] So, you know what?

[00:07:54] Respectable showing.

[00:07:55] But we would like other people to be able to find the show.

[00:07:59] So, if you haven't, please consider going and leaving us a review so that it does the magical iTunes stuff and recommends the show to other people.

[00:08:07] Because we just want the Christmas morning family to be bigger.

[00:08:10] That's all.

[00:08:10] That's all that we want, for sure.

[00:08:12] Scotty, one thing I know we have to have for certain is a joke.

[00:08:16] Yeah, we do.

[00:08:17] And I've got a good one for you.

[00:08:18] Okay.

[00:08:19] A little cerebral, though.

[00:08:20] So, prepare yourself, okay?

[00:08:22] Okay.

[00:08:22] I'm prepared.

[00:08:22] What happens at Christmas to children who don't know how to tie their shoes?

[00:08:27] Oh, my gosh.

[00:08:29] They get a trip.

[00:08:31] No, they end up on the naughty list.

[00:08:33] Oh!

[00:08:34] Waka waka!

[00:08:35] With a K.

[00:08:36] K-N.

[00:08:37] Very nice.

[00:08:38] Very nice.

[00:08:39] Yeah, it was okay.

[00:08:40] I actually went looking for one-liners because the one last week was so well-received.

[00:08:44] But I found that one, and it's a surprise to me when I find one I haven't seen before.

[00:08:48] I thought mine was pretty good, though.

[00:08:51] Yours was pretty good, too.

[00:08:52] You get a trip?

[00:08:53] That's not bad.

[00:08:54] Yep.

[00:08:54] Let's get to the countdown.

[00:08:55] Let's do it.

[00:09:01] 56 days until Christmas!

[00:09:06] 56.

[00:09:08] Holy smokes.

[00:09:09] Holy cow.

[00:09:11] I would say, wow, that seems like very few, but I don't know.

[00:09:14] I've been living in it now, and I'm fully absorbing the low number that we're in, and I'm excited.

[00:09:20] We're doing the daily episodes.

[00:09:22] I know.

[00:09:22] We're doing them on purpose so that you take a breath each day and remember to slow down

[00:09:29] and enjoy the season.

[00:09:30] That's right.

[00:09:31] And it's going to really hit like midweek next week when we get under that 50 number.

[00:09:37] Oh!

[00:09:38] Oh my gosh.

[00:09:39] Potential freakout.

[00:09:40] It's a potential freakout, everybody.

[00:09:41] Get ready.

[00:09:42] Get ready to freak out because it might happen.

[00:09:45] There's a very good chance.

[00:09:46] Very good chance.

[00:09:47] Hey, Scotty, I think now is as good a time as any to get some news.

[00:09:50] Let's do it.

[00:09:56] Today is Wednesday, October 30th.

[00:09:59] Here's the news.

[00:10:01] Larry's in good form there.

[00:10:02] Yeah, I think he's ramping up.

[00:10:04] All ready for the season.

[00:10:05] He is, yeah.

[00:10:06] Doing the vocal warmups.

[00:10:08] Yes.

[00:10:09] Every year, Scotty, you know about the White House Christmas tree.

[00:10:12] It's always a big to-do.

[00:10:14] Big to-do.

[00:10:15] Big to-do.

[00:10:16] Big doings.

[00:10:16] We typically get a good three or four stories out of the White House Christmas tree, so that's always nice, you know?

[00:10:21] Oh, what are they doing there?

[00:10:23] There's a gingerbread somewhere.

[00:10:24] Guys, when you do a daily show, you need some stuff occasionally.

[00:10:28] That's right.

[00:10:29] But here is your first information about this year's White House Christmas tree, and it's nice because the White House has chosen a Christmas tree out of Western North Carolina, which is wonderful because the folks in Western North Carolina that are still dealing with the effects and the damage from Hurricane Helene,

[00:10:48] there has been a big push the last week or so to try to get your Christmas tree, if possible, from a farm in Western North Carolina to support those farms.

[00:10:58] And the White House has done just that.

[00:11:00] They are going to visit Cartner's Blue Ridge Christmas tree.

[00:11:05] They actually visited it on October 28th to select a tree for the display in the Blue Room of the White House.

[00:11:12] It's one of my favorite rooms in the White House.

[00:11:14] There's lots of-

[00:11:15] Yeah, of all the rooms.

[00:11:16] The Blue Room, that one's the best.

[00:11:19] The tree will then be harvested on November 20th and presented to the First Lady in Washington, D.C.

[00:11:29] And so that's nice.

[00:11:31] I didn't know, one thing I didn't know is that there's a White House official, I don't know if it's the First Lady or what, that goes to the farm to pick out the specific tree.

[00:11:43] So that was a new wrinkle in this story for me.

[00:11:47] But-

[00:11:47] I feel like you and I knew that because I think in years past we've said, wouldn't it be great if that was us?

[00:11:53] Eh, could be.

[00:11:54] I feel like we talked about it before-

[00:11:56] Nobody's calling.

[00:11:56] Still nobody is calling.

[00:11:58] The Rockefeller tree, I feel like we've talked about.

[00:12:00] Oh.

[00:12:00] That's always a-

[00:12:01] That's true, you're right.

[00:12:02] You know, but you could do both.

[00:12:04] Yeah, I mean, listen, we're open to both.

[00:12:05] Because you could do a twofer while you're standing out in the woods.

[00:12:07] Yeah, that's right.

[00:12:07] You're like, hey, while we're here.

[00:12:08] That's right.

[00:12:09] So a nice story to see.

[00:12:11] I don't know, you know, what the White House had planned, if they had planned to go somewhere else before the hurricane and then they pivoted.

[00:12:18] But regardless, it's good to see.

[00:12:21] And if you are-

[00:12:23] If you find out that you have some trees locally that have been brought in from Western North Carolina, consider heading there this year to pick up a Christmas tree.

[00:12:32] A great thought by the White House.

[00:12:33] Really appreciate that.

[00:12:34] I did see on the Weather Channel this morning, they had the North Carolina executive tree growers, blah, blah, blah.

[00:12:40] So same thing.

[00:12:41] If possible, see if you are able to get a tree from North Carolina.

[00:12:45] Let's help support those recovery efforts.

[00:12:47] There you go.

[00:12:48] Hey, let's take a quick break and we'll come back and we'll get to the TV listings.

[00:12:53] The final day of multiple listings, multiple days of listing.

[00:12:58] Oh, that's right.

[00:12:59] And then we'll get to the battle here on Christmas Morning.

[00:13:08] Welcome back, everybody.

[00:13:10] Man, oh man.

[00:13:11] It's great to be back here today.

[00:13:13] The final week of October is here.

[00:13:16] Everybody's starting to get in a good mood because Christmas, well, maybe it's Halloween that people are in a good mood about.

[00:13:21] But us, we're excited because that means Christmas is almost here.

[00:13:25] And what better way to celebrate than by watching some Christmas TV.

[00:13:28] And TV Scotty is here to let us know what we can watch today and this weekend for some Christmas cheer.

[00:17:13] courtesy of MostlyChristmas.com.

[00:17:15] Thank you, TV Scotty.

[00:17:16] That was wonderful.

[00:17:17] And I can't wait to hear you give us those listings every single day

[00:17:22] starting in November.

[00:17:23] It's going to be wonderful.

[00:17:24] Yeah, but remember, we're going to do the thing where we do the current day

[00:17:27] and the next day.

[00:17:28] Right, right.

[00:17:29] But it's nice.

[00:17:30] Because people said, hey, you know, like,

[00:17:31] I might hear this on the way to work.

[00:17:33] I can't set the DVR from the car.

[00:17:35] Well, you probably can by this point.

[00:17:37] Yeah, these days.

[00:17:38] But just in case you can't,

[00:17:39] you might want to get excited for what's coming on tomorrow.

[00:17:40] So we'll do that.

[00:17:41] And we don't want to rob TV Scotty out of his segment.

[00:17:44] You know, we don't want to make it too short.

[00:17:46] You know what I mean?

[00:17:47] You pay for the golden pipes.

[00:17:49] I know.

[00:17:49] You might as well use them.

[00:17:50] When we did it that one time where it was just one day, he got real mad.

[00:17:54] Yeah, that's right.

[00:17:55] He's a diva.

[00:17:58] He's the worst, but you can't argue with that voice.

[00:18:00] You can't argue with that voice.

[00:18:02] Let's get to the battle, Scotty.

[00:18:05] Of course, last week we battled Underneath the Tree.

[00:18:10] We did.

[00:18:10] The Kelly Clarkson, now classic, I guess.

[00:18:14] I guess so.

[00:18:15] A lot of people consider it to be in the Christmas canon.

[00:18:18] And it's a good song.

[00:18:20] I thought we had a pretty good, what do you call it?

[00:18:22] The crop and band camp in there.

[00:18:24] Certainly much better than this week, which we'll get to that disaster shortly.

[00:18:29] So let's get to the results.

[00:18:31] Unfortunately, you are correct.

[00:18:32] But Scotty, you know what?

[00:18:34] I'm feeling generous today.

[00:18:35] It's the last regular episode of the year.

[00:18:39] And I thought maybe my gift to you would be letting you give the final results.

[00:18:46] All right.

[00:18:46] I will do that.

[00:18:47] So here are the results for Underneath the Tree.

[00:18:49] In last place, Underneath the Tree by Sons of Nothing.

[00:18:54] Brought to us by me.

[00:18:56] Only 12% of the vote.

[00:18:58] A pathetic showing.

[00:18:59] In second place, Underneath the Tree by Robert Merrill.

[00:19:04] 18% of the vote.

[00:19:06] Little better.

[00:19:07] That was brought to us by Bran.

[00:19:09] And the Runaway winner with 68.9% of the vote.

[00:19:13] Underneath the Tree by Rollin Hand and Cinnamon Carter.

[00:19:16] This was brought to us by listener Jack Unverfurth.

[00:19:20] Good job, Jack.

[00:19:21] Nice win by the listeners today and for the season.

[00:19:24] Oh, that was wonderful.

[00:19:26] That was wonderful.

[00:19:27] Thanks, Scotty.

[00:19:28] Merry Christmas.

[00:19:29] Merry Christmas to you.

[00:19:30] What is that?

[00:19:31] Surly, Surly Scotty?

[00:19:33] He's the guy that reads results.

[00:19:35] Yeah, Surly Scotty.

[00:19:36] Yeah, you got it, Bran.

[00:19:38] Let's get to this week's song trivia.

[00:19:41] The song this week is Candy Cane Lane.

[00:19:45] Were you able to find any trivia about that song?

[00:19:47] Or did you just pull something out of your butt?

[00:19:49] We haven't found squat about this song.

[00:19:52] We haven't found versions of this song.

[00:19:53] This entire battle was a disaster.

[00:19:56] And it's a good thing that the listeners have already won this thing.

[00:19:59] So here's what happened.

[00:20:01] This battle doesn't matter.

[00:20:01] I originally went to band camp and searched Candy Cane Lane.

[00:20:06] And there were six pages of results.

[00:20:07] And that's all the work that I did.

[00:20:09] And it turns out that those results had very little to do with the wonderful song by Sia.

[00:20:17] In fact, there's like 14 versions by the Coyotes called Candy Cane Lane that are not the Sia song.

[00:20:23] There's multiple like just original songs.

[00:20:26] Who knew, right?

[00:20:27] I've been on a lane with candy canes.

[00:20:29] Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey.

[00:20:31] There's a great one by the Willows.

[00:20:32] Not the song in question here.

[00:20:36] So oops, sorry about that.

[00:20:38] But I think we did scrape together three versions.

[00:20:41] But you know what we didn't do?

[00:20:42] What's that?

[00:20:43] There's no trivia about this song.

[00:20:45] But I had...

[00:20:46] Does this song even exist?

[00:20:48] It doesn't.

[00:20:49] It doesn't.

[00:20:50] But David Scarborough wrote in and said,

[00:20:53] Hey, if you don't have song trivia, maybe you could just read a piece of trivia.

[00:20:57] And I thought, oh, let's try that today.

[00:20:59] That sounds pretty good.

[00:21:00] So David sent in this little bit from Wikipedia.

[00:21:04] White Christmas earned $12 million in theatrical rentals.

[00:21:08] Equal to $136 million in 2023 adjusted for inflation, making it the highest grossing film of 1954.

[00:21:16] It was also the highest grossing musical at the time and ranks among the top 100 popular movies of all time at the domestic box office when adjusted for inflation and the size of population.

[00:21:27] Ooh, that's technical.

[00:21:28] In its release year of 1954.

[00:21:30] Overall, the film grossed $30 million at the domestic box office.

[00:21:34] So White Christmas, obviously a song, but also a movie slash musical.

[00:21:40] So thanks for sending that in, David.

[00:21:41] That's a good idea.

[00:21:42] If we can't find anything about a song, hey, we'll just read movie stuff.

[00:21:46] You know what?

[00:21:46] And White Christmas is also a song.

[00:21:48] So that trivia is not...

[00:21:50] That's not just a random bit of trivia.

[00:21:51] It's adjacent.

[00:21:53] It is adjacent.

[00:21:53] It's one street over, as we say sometimes.

[00:21:57] Let's get to...

[00:21:58] Let's go next to one street over.

[00:22:01] There it is.

[00:22:01] Dang it.

[00:22:02] I was so close.

[00:22:03] Let's go one street over to Candy Cane Lane, shall we?

[00:22:05] Let's get to our versions.

[00:22:07] Up first is Candy Cane Lane by Dan Oily.

[00:22:11] Take a trip with me.

[00:22:15] It's the cutest thing.

[00:22:16] I swear you'll ever see.

[00:22:17] It's the best.

[00:22:19] So get dressed.

[00:22:21] I'll impress.

[00:22:23] You look the colors of the rainbow.

[00:22:30] It's so magical.

[00:22:31] Let's go there in your dreams.

[00:22:32] It's the best.

[00:22:34] So get dressed.

[00:22:36] I'll impress.

[00:22:40] Red and yellow at Christmas's way...

[00:23:13] Well, that was a humdinger, wasn't it?

[00:23:14] Dan Oily has my vote for anything.

[00:23:17] President?

[00:23:17] I'll write him in next week.

[00:23:18] I don't care.

[00:23:19] This is crazy.

[00:23:20] Dan Oily, everybody.

[00:23:21] Love it.

[00:23:22] Up next, we have Candy Cane Lane by Jellies.

[00:23:26] All right.

[00:23:26] Let's see if this is any better, different.

[00:24:28] You know, Brian, if I've learned anything so far, it's that you and I should put up a version

[00:24:32] of this song.

[00:24:33] We might have the best one on Bandcamp.

[00:24:35] Yes, that's right.

[00:24:36] For the other podcasts that are doing Christmas song battles, maybe we'd win it.

[00:24:40] And then let's get to the final version.

[00:24:42] This is Candy Cane Lane by The Sugar Plums.

[00:24:44] Take a trip down Candy Cane Lane with me.

[00:24:47] It's the cutest thing I swear you'll ever see.

[00:24:50] It's the best.

[00:24:52] So get dressed.

[00:24:56] You with the colors of the rainbow.

[00:24:58] Take a trip down Candy Cane Lane with me.

[00:25:02] It's so magical.

[00:25:04] Let's go.

[00:25:25] Let's go.

[00:25:25] Let's go.

[00:25:47] Let's go.

[00:25:47] Let's go.

[00:25:47] Well, definitely one of the most interesting battles that we've ever had.

[00:25:50] And I take full responsibility for it.

[00:25:53] But music, Scotty, is very sorry for the events that have transpired.

[00:25:57] I don't know what you're talking about.

[00:25:58] I thought that battle was perfect.

[00:25:59] I thought that battle was perfect.

[00:26:01] No notes.

[00:26:03] We did it, everybody.

[00:26:06] Starting next week, I guess Friday, whatever.

[00:26:08] Whenever we start the daily shows, we will no longer be needing your services as the listeners

[00:26:13] to submit songs.

[00:26:14] So thank you so much for all that you have done beginning in January until now.

[00:26:20] So many people submitted songs this year, Scotty.

[00:26:23] It's unbelievable.

[00:26:24] And it showed insofar as the listeners pulling out the victory this year.

[00:26:30] So congratulations to the listeners on another victory.

[00:26:33] I think this is the second year in a row.

[00:26:35] It is two years in a row.

[00:26:36] Before I forget, I want to mention that we did get listener submissions from David Scarborough,

[00:26:40] Jack Unverforth, and Cece Ponce.

[00:26:41] Thank you all for submitting.

[00:26:43] And as Bran said, thank you for submitting all year.

[00:26:46] We really could not do this segment without you.

[00:26:49] It is very generous of you to take your time and your effort to do that and be part of the family.

[00:26:54] So thank you all very much.

[00:26:57] Bran, we're going to go to side-by-side dueling battles as we go daily.

[00:27:03] And we won't announce the results until the end of the year.

[00:27:07] That's right.

[00:27:08] And I'm really excited about this year's battles.

[00:27:10] I think it's going to be really good.

[00:27:11] I think we've both won in the past.

[00:27:14] I wish I could remember how many.

[00:27:16] Yeah, I don't have that one on the website, but I was looking at the website.

[00:27:20] 2024 ended up almost identically to 2023.

[00:27:23] The listeners won.

[00:27:24] I came in second.

[00:27:25] You came in third.

[00:27:26] Next year's my year, everybody.

[00:27:27] I'm not going to be weird.

[00:27:28] It's the year.

[00:27:29] I'm not going to be weird.

[00:27:30] I do a lot of weird stuff.

[00:27:31] Next year, say goodbye to weird Bran because he's gone.

[00:27:35] Next year, all I'm going to do is surf rock.

[00:27:37] All you're going to do is the Funkestra.

[00:27:41] Just every single week.

[00:27:42] Every week.

[00:27:43] Same Funkestra song.

[00:27:44] You get second place over and over and over again.

[00:27:46] We're going to be back tomorrow, actually, because it's Halloween.

[00:27:49] Halloween, and we dug our Halloween grave and said we were going to do a Halloween episode,

[00:27:55] so we are doing it.

[00:27:57] Well, to be honest, we said we were going to do multiple Halloween episodes.

[00:28:01] Well, that didn't happen.

[00:28:02] God, you don't have to tell the people.

[00:28:04] The people know, Bran.

[00:28:05] You can't hide it from the people.

[00:28:07] They know our shame, so I'm just going to own it.

[00:28:10] But the good news is we've got an awesome Halloween episode for us.

[00:28:15] We've got Shannon joining us.

[00:28:16] Mrs. Claus is going to be there, which is pretty amazing.

[00:28:20] We've got some audio clips.

[00:28:22] It's going to be a whole lot of fun, and it's going to be a nighttime episode,

[00:28:26] so maybe you can listen to it while you carve the pumpkin.

[00:28:30] You're going to be so scared.

[00:28:32] You think people are carving the pumpkin on Halloween night?

[00:28:34] That's true.

[00:28:34] You're right.

[00:28:35] They're probably.

[00:28:37] Okay.

[00:28:37] You can listen to it while you're throwing your pumpkin in the trash can.

[00:28:40] There you go.

[00:28:41] While you're trick-or-treating with your children, you say,

[00:28:43] kids, get out of here.

[00:28:44] I've got to listen to the guys do the thing.

[00:28:47] But they promised they would do more than one of.

[00:28:50] I'm excited about it.

[00:28:51] I think it's going to be real scary.

[00:28:52] It's going to be so scary.

[00:28:53] So maybe listen to it with an adult tomorrow.

[00:28:55] You know, it's going to be frightening.

[00:28:57] I'll try to find one.

[00:28:58] All right.

[00:28:58] Fair enough.

[00:28:58] We'll be back then.

[00:28:59] Until then, Merry Christmas.

[00:29:11] You're about to hear some ads that help pay for our trip back and forth to the North Pole.

[00:29:15] Feel free to listen.

[00:29:16] Feel free to bail now.

[00:29:18] But either way, thanks for being here.

[00:29:20] Ho, ho, ho.
