[00:00:02] This is a Bramble Jam Podcast

[00:00:11] It's the Christmas Morning Podcast

[00:00:14] Everyone join if you can

[00:00:18] Christmas Raiders fans

[00:00:22] Scottie and Bram

[00:00:23] Here for you and me

[00:00:27] Wow, hello everybody

[00:00:28] Happy Thursday

[00:00:31] And we are smack dab

[00:00:33] I don't know, in the middle

[00:00:35] I guess it's not the middle anymore

[00:00:36] I don't know, we're never stopping

[00:00:38] We're daily through Christmas everybody

[00:00:39] Even Saturday and Sunday we're going to be here

[00:00:41] I'm Bram and I'm here with Scott

[00:00:42] Scott, Merry Christmas

[00:00:44] Merry Christmas, buddy

[00:00:45] Let me open up that mailbag

[00:00:47] I want to get right into this

[00:00:48] I got a fun email

[00:00:49] And I think you're going to enjoy it

[00:00:51] Rip it open

[00:00:52] Rip it

[00:00:53] Rip it

[00:00:53] We get letters

[00:00:55] Rip it

[00:00:55] We get stacks and stacks of letters

[00:00:59] I've got an email from Drew Basic

[00:01:01] Drew says

[00:01:01] I wanted to share a Christmas tradition

[00:01:03] My family has been doing since I was little

[00:01:05] It's all about the 12 days of Christmas

[00:01:07] Which we're in the thick of

[00:01:08] Well, actually

[00:01:09] We're pretending we're in the thick of it

[00:01:11] But it's not actually the 12 days of Christmas

[00:01:12] Those start after Christmas

[00:01:14] Anyway

[00:01:15] Here's how it works

[00:01:16] We sing the song together as a family

[00:01:18] And my dad uses a wooden stick

[00:01:20] As a conductor's baton

[00:01:21] Okay

[00:01:21] As we sing

[00:01:22] He points to different people

[00:01:23] And whoever he points

[00:01:24] Has to sing that part of the song

[00:01:26] The catch

[00:01:26] If anyone messes up

[00:01:28] We start all the way back

[00:01:29] At the first day

[00:01:30] And we keep going

[00:01:30] Until we get through the whole song

[00:01:32] Without mistakes

[00:01:33] This tradition was started by my grandfather

[00:01:35] Years ago

[00:01:35] When we celebrated with all our aunts

[00:01:37] Uncles and cousins

[00:01:38] Though my grandfather's no longer with us

[00:01:40] And we can't always gather

[00:01:41] With our extended family

[00:01:43] Continuing this with my family in North Carolina

[00:01:45] Keeps the tradition alive and meaningful

[00:01:47] P.S.

[00:01:48] This could make for a fun game at Bramble Fest

[00:01:51] Oh, that's a pretty good idea

[00:01:52] Drew Basic

[00:01:53] I like that idea quite a bit

[00:01:55] That's a great idea

[00:01:56] And then one more email from Tia Horn

[00:01:57] Tia says

[00:01:58] My husband and I moved a month ago

[00:02:00] To a new town

[00:02:00] And decided we would go

[00:02:01] To the Christmas tree lighting at the park

[00:02:03] It was very hallmarky

[00:02:04] Which was the goal

[00:02:05] Because the mayor mentioned it

[00:02:06] Many times

[00:02:08] There was free hot chocolate

[00:02:10] And sugar cookies

[00:02:10] The high school choir sang

[00:02:12] The local ballet

[00:02:13] Did an abbreviated version

[00:02:14] Of the Nutcracker

[00:02:15] The high school cross-country team

[00:02:17] And junior high softball team

[00:02:18] Got recognized for winning

[00:02:19] The state

[00:02:20] And a local guitarist

[00:02:21] Even sang Bran's favorite

[00:02:23] Christmas song

[00:02:23] Hallelujah

[00:02:24] Which I agree with Bran

[00:02:26] It's not a Christmas song

[00:02:28] All of this led up to the

[00:02:29] Quote, new and improved tree lighting

[00:02:31] I attached some short videos

[00:02:32] Because I never expected

[00:02:34] The tree lighting

[00:02:34] To be quite like it ended up

[00:02:36] It was fun

[00:02:37] Yet so over the top

[00:02:38] I had to share it

[00:02:39] With the other Christmas morning people

[00:02:41] Bran, I have never heard

[00:02:42] A tree lighting set to thunder

[00:02:44] By ACBC before

[00:02:46] There's fire?

[00:02:50] I love this

[00:02:51] I mean, categorically

[00:02:52] Not small town hallmarky

[00:02:54] Oh, fireworks too

[00:02:56] Holy smokes

[00:02:57] It was something

[00:02:59] Tia, thank you for that video

[00:03:00] I would have been standing there

[00:03:02] With my mouth agape

[00:03:03] Saying, what is happening?

[00:03:04] I sound a bit like

[00:03:05] The lead singer of ACDC right now

[00:03:07] Yeah, you do sound a little hoarse

[00:03:08] Are you Angus?

[00:03:09] It was cold!

[00:03:11] Save it for later

[00:03:12] Thunder!

[00:03:13] I've always wanted to do that song

[00:03:15] At karaoke

[00:03:15] But I worry that

[00:03:17] I won't be able to withstand it

[00:03:18] Yeah, your voice would give out

[00:03:20] Halfway through

[00:03:21] That's a lot of this!

[00:03:22] That was really good though

[00:03:23] That's too much

[00:03:24] Thank you

[00:03:25] You got a joke for us?

[00:03:26] I do

[00:03:26] Or whatever we're calling a joke

[00:03:28] On this show?

[00:03:30] Yeah, no kidding

[00:03:30] Buckle up

[00:03:31] How do you hire Santa Claus?

[00:03:34] All of them

[00:03:35] No, sorry

[00:03:36] I don't know

[00:03:37] You put them on a ladder

[00:03:39] Waka waka

[00:03:42] Higher

[00:03:43] Because you take them higher

[00:03:44] It's higher

[00:03:44] Okay, that's not bad

[00:03:46] Okay, we're back on track everybody

[00:03:49] We're back on track

[00:03:50] This is the rare joke

[00:03:51] That doesn't work in print though

[00:03:53] Yes, it does not work

[00:03:55] When you

[00:03:56] H-I-R-E

[00:03:57] Right

[00:03:57] That's right

[00:03:57] Oh, sorry

[00:03:58] Waka waka

[00:04:00] Waka waka

[00:04:00] Indie

[00:04:00] Let's see the countdown

[00:04:07] Six days until Christmas!

[00:04:11] Yeah!

[00:04:13] Brand, we've got more episodes to record

[00:04:15] Don't do that

[00:04:17] Thunderstruck!

[00:04:17] Oh my gosh

[00:04:18] Friday episode will be just Scotty

[00:04:21] The part of Brand will be played by nobody

[00:04:24] There's just going to be a lot of

[00:04:29] This is like when we have too many nannies in the TV listings

[00:04:32] That's right

[00:04:36] We're having fun

[00:04:36] I got some news if you want it

[00:04:38] Well, hold on though

[00:04:39] Six swans

[00:04:40] Wait a minute

[00:04:40] Seven swans

[00:04:41] Six geese a-laying today

[00:04:42] It's too many

[00:04:43] Too many birds, guys

[00:04:44] Too many birds

[00:04:45] Let's get the news

[00:04:50] Today is Thursday

[00:04:53] December 19th

[00:04:54] Here's the news

[00:04:55] If you love to go big with your Christmas decoration display

[00:05:01] But you want your decor to represent who you are

[00:05:04] There is a new company started by a teenager from Westchester, New York

[00:05:11] His name is Carson Dean

[00:05:13] And he is the founder of Inclusive Christmas

[00:05:16] A new brand that makes large inflatables for your yard

[00:05:21] That broaden the scope of who Santa can be

[00:05:25] All of this started because Carson, who is half Korean

[00:05:29] Tried to find an Asian Santa for his dad

[00:05:32] But couldn't find him

[00:05:34] He says

[00:05:35] Ever since we moved to the suburbs five years ago

[00:05:37] My dad has put up outdoor decorations for Christmas

[00:05:40] And last year I wanted to get him an Asian inflatable Santa

[00:05:44] Because I'm half Korean

[00:05:45] And I couldn't find one that already existed

[00:05:47] So I figure, why not create my own?

[00:05:50] I originally thought about just making Asian Santas

[00:05:53] But my family and I talked about how there are other groups

[00:05:55] That might want to see themselves represented as well

[00:05:58] So we have added Pride Santa

[00:06:01] And then a Black Santa

[00:06:02] And then Sondra Claus

[00:06:04] Which is a female Santa

[00:06:06] The idea only grew from there

[00:06:09] He says after we launched

[00:06:10] Based on customer feedback

[00:06:12] We also added Hanukkah Hank

[00:06:15] For Jewish and interfaith families

[00:06:17] This all happened within the past 10 months

[00:06:20] Or from the help of my family

[00:06:22] He designed prototypes

[00:06:24] Found a manufacturer

[00:06:25] Registered the inclusive Christmas website

[00:06:28] Created a logo

[00:06:30] Built a website

[00:06:31] Applied for Shark Tank

[00:06:33] Obviously

[00:06:34] And started selling

[00:06:36] Sponsored by Squarespace

[00:06:38] Build your website

[00:06:39] Oh, no it's not

[00:06:40] And then started selling the Santas

[00:06:42] The business has taken off so much

[00:06:44] That you can buy inclusive Christmas inflatables

[00:06:46] At Walmart

[00:06:47] Including on Walmart's website

[00:06:49] And it can be shipped anywhere in the US

[00:06:51] I thought that this was

[00:06:53] Very sweet

[00:06:55] Very cool to see

[00:06:56] Not just

[00:06:57] One, I'm shocked that this didn't already exist

[00:06:59] It's kind of a shame that it didn't already exist

[00:07:02] But shout out to a kid

[00:07:04] A teenager

[00:07:06] Named Carson

[00:07:07] Who saw a problem

[00:07:09] And instead of waiting for somebody to create it

[00:07:12] He said

[00:07:12] Why the heck not

[00:07:13] Why not me

[00:07:14] Why not now

[00:07:15] Shout out to Carson

[00:07:16] Keep going buddy

[00:07:17] You're crushing it

[00:07:18] And you got a

[00:07:18] One heck of a bright future

[00:07:20] On the way

[00:07:21] What a really cool story

[00:07:22] It was very nice

[00:07:24] We love to see that

[00:07:25] And that was beautiful

[00:07:26] So shout out Carson

[00:07:27] And if you ever want to come on the show

[00:07:28] You just give us a shout

[00:07:29] Oh, that would be so cool

[00:07:30] Yeah

[00:07:31] Let's take a quick break

[00:07:32] We'll come back

[00:07:33] And we'll get to the TV listings

[00:07:35] And today's Christmas music battle

[00:07:37] Of Holly Jolly Christmas

[00:07:38] All that on the other side of the break

[00:07:40] Here on Christmas morning

[00:07:47] Welcome back everybody

[00:07:48] It is Thursday

[00:07:50] Uh oh

[00:07:50] He's

[00:07:51] What happened during break?

[00:07:52] What's so funny?

[00:07:53] I was

[00:07:53] I was

[00:07:54] Looking back at the

[00:07:55] The joke for today, Brad

[00:07:56] That's what was happening

[00:07:59] That's a good one

[00:08:00] You get them higher

[00:08:01] Yeah, it was a good joke

[00:08:02] Let's get to the

[00:08:03] Let's get to the TV specials for the day

[00:09:54] Nope

[00:09:54] Not a chance

[00:09:55] Okay

[00:09:55] Let's get to the Christmas

[00:09:57] music battle

[00:09:57] Today we have another classic

[00:09:59] another fun one

[00:10:00] Holly Jolly Christmas

[00:10:02] You like Holly Jolly Christmas?

[00:10:04] Yeah

[00:10:04] Wasn't that written by

[00:10:05] Johnny Marks?

[00:10:06] I think so

[00:10:06] Yeah

[00:10:07] He wrote a lot of songs

[00:10:08] It turns out

[00:10:08] Go and check out

[00:10:09] my Tinsel Tunes episode

[00:10:10] on that one

[00:10:11] I hope Holly Jolly

[00:10:12] is one of them

[00:10:12] There you go

[00:10:13] First we have

[00:10:14] Holly Jolly Christmas

[00:10:15] by Matt Coakley

[00:10:16] Have a holly jolly Christmas

[00:10:19] It's the best time of the year

[00:10:21] I don't know if there'll be snow

[00:10:24] But have a cup of cheer

[00:10:26] Have a holly jolly Christmas

[00:10:29] And when you walk down the street

[00:10:31] Say hello to friends you know

[00:10:34] And everyone you meet

[00:10:36] Oh ho the mistletoe

[00:10:39] Home where you can see

[00:10:41] Somebody waits for you

[00:10:44] Kiss her once for me

[00:10:46] Have a holly jolly Christmas

[00:10:48] And in case you didn't hear

[00:10:50] Oh by golly

[00:10:52] Have a holly jolly Christmas

[00:10:54] This year

[00:11:04] Holly jolly holly jolly

[00:11:07] Holly jolly Christmas

[00:11:11] And in case you didn't hear

[00:11:14] Oh by golly

[00:11:16] Have a holly jolly Christmas

[00:11:18] This year

[00:11:24] Brandon that sounds like

[00:11:25] it could have been recorded

[00:11:26] straight out of a Rankin Bass

[00:11:28] special right there

[00:11:28] It did how about

[00:11:29] Shout out Matt Coakley

[00:11:31] If that was what you were going for

[00:11:32] You absolutely crushed it

[00:11:33] Up next we have

[00:11:35] Holly jolly Christmas

[00:11:37] by

[00:11:38] Combustible Nuts

[00:12:39] Luckily this is an audio only medium

[00:12:41] because the album art

[00:12:43] is not safe for work

[00:12:44] I'm gonna listen to the rest

[00:12:46] of this album

[00:12:46] It's new to this year

[00:12:47] It's called

[00:12:48] Ruin Christmas Songs

[00:12:49] And I imagine

[00:12:50] that they do
