[00:00:00] This is a Bramble Jam Podcast.

[00:00:12] Live from the North Pole, it's time for Christmas morning.

[00:00:18] The daily show where every day is Christmas.

[00:00:22] Here are your hosts, Bran and Scott. Helps get you in that Christmas spirit. There's so much to get to. We got a really fun battle for you today. But of course we have to start with my favorite thing in the entire world. It's time for the mail back. Ladders, we get ladders. We get stacks and stacks of ladders. I didn't know that NPR does a lot of Santa interviews

[00:01:42] in February.

[00:01:43] It's good to know that they do that though.

[00:01:44] That's fair, that's great.

[00:01:45] Well, you're thinking of National Public Radio.

[00:01:47] This is North, Brian. That's fantastic. I love that. I love hearing about, I don't know, Christmas trees in general. Yeah. I guess just anytime I get to learn something new about the world of trees,

[00:03:01] it sounds like I'm being facetious here,

[00:03:03] but I'm not. It's very interesting to me.

[00:03:05] I'm very, very I get to see Shatter. So even a young one will do. So fantastic. Thank you so much, Jack, for that fun fact. Yeah. That's all I've got in the mailbag today. How are the reviews? We are, we have movement, everybody. We have movement. Forward motion. We are up to, as everyone will know, I think since the beginning of the calendar Obviously, we take that one week off in between Christmas and New Year. But is there any other Christmas podcast that just does Christmas that puts out episodes at the rate that we do all year long? Does it exist? If it does, I'm not familiar with it.

[00:05:40] I don't know if it's a good thing or a bad thing.

[00:05:42] Maybe we should take some notes from the other Christmas podcasts out there.

[00:05:45] But I like it.

[00:05:46] I like doing this all year. Wow. Can't make that stu- I mean someone made it up but I couldn't. Someone was overpaid for that book. I couldn't have. Let's get to the countdown. Go to the world. 301 days until Christmas! 301, Scotty.

[00:07:00] Yeah we considered moving this episode to Friday so we could say 299 but you're just Today is February 28th. Here's the news. Uh-oh. Sounds like he's still really struggling with that breakup, Scotty. Yeah, that's rough. I want to let him be, though. I don't want to poke at that scab. Especially when you say it like that. Gross. So Scotty, you know this about me. You know that I love courtroom TV shows.

[00:08:25] So Judge Judy of People's Court started a podcast about it years ago called Yo, Gabbel, Gabbel. was trying to commit insurance fraud. They had an $820,000 insurance claim because of debilitating back pain that happened via a car accident in 2017. Trying to get some money for the back pain that they have.

[00:09:40] And you might be wondering to yourself,

[00:09:42] self, what does this have to do with Christmas?

[00:09:44] Well, here's your you to do so. I did see this story come up during the week and it was misreported in a couple of places

[00:11:01] that she hurt her back throwing the Christmas tree.

[00:11:03] No.

[00:11:04] No.

[00:11:05] She was injured in a car accident and we'll get to the battle. A fun battle, I believe, is what we have in store for us today. Here on Christmas Morning. Welcome back everybody. Show, Drew's Holiday Punch. 2am on VH1, The Jamie Foxx Show, Christmas deja vu. 6am on Hallmark Drama, Highway to Heaven, with Love, The Claws. 8.30am on Decades, The Brady Bunch, The Voice of Christmas. 10am on Me TV, Matlock, The Scrooge. 2pm on IFC, Who's the Boss, Christmas Card.

[00:13:40] And 5.30pm on IFC, Everybody Loves Raymond, The Thought That Counts.

[00:13:44] Friday, 2.30am on Decades, of days, courtesy of MostlyChristmas.com. I want to know what happened at BET to get them off. Yeah, exactly. Like, did the show unexpectedly go wrong? What happened? Well, there's nothing we can do about it.

[00:15:00] One thing went long, we started late, now everything like Domino's has fallen out of

[00:15:04] place.

[00:15:05] 2.27 AM BET.

[00:15:06] We're stuck.

[00:15:07] We're stuck.

[00:15:08] There's nothing we can do. And I honestly felt good going into the event. I felt like this is something no one's heard before That's a bop. Did I think it belongs in second place? Behind who ended up winning? Yeah, I get it. I thought it would have been closer though, but only 30% that means that the winner

[00:16:21] with 57 almost 58% of the vote is Richie K's Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer

[00:16:27] obviously Yes, this is the you and I are tied at three now and the listeners down there at one Okay, three to three to one. Thank you for checking always updated every week with the latest songs and also Totals and the winners. That's right Alright Scotty this week's song is father Christmas by the kinks Good song and I have some trivia for you

[00:17:41] Go ahead give me that trivia and then we can talk about what it was like finding these tracks since its release in

[00:18:43] But if I'm going to listen to a punk band play Father Christmas,

[00:18:46] I'm just going to listen to the King's do because no one does it better.

[00:18:48] It sounded like a karaoke version on a lot of them, and that's not what I was looking for.

[00:18:50] I wanted to hear a different take on it.

[00:18:52] We actually have some different takes today, and I think they're pretty good.

[00:18:55] Let's find out what we got up first is a version by Matt

[00:18:58] Nathanson with Father Christmas.

[00:19:04] When I was small, I believed in Santa Claus,

[00:20:03] And I believe a, I'd have to go back and listen, but I think an acoustic bass is on that track as well.

[00:20:06] You don't get to hear a lot of, so that's fun.

[00:20:10] Up next we have, what would you say this, this is?

[00:20:14] All right, so the band is spelled C-A-I-O-L-A,

[00:20:17] K-O-L, I gotta say, K-O-LA, that's K-O-LA?

[00:20:20] Man, Brian got really excited about this.

[00:20:22] It's the singer of my favorite band.

[00:20:23] It's the singer of your favorite band?

[00:20:26] What are you doing here in the North Pole, by the way? If you don't hit it over, we want your bread so we'll make us some money. Give all the toys to the little rich boy. Brian was listening to that and he just said, that's Jordan, all right.

[00:21:41] I think he's a proud dad or something.

[00:21:43] Yeah, he's on a first name basis with the members of the band, Kayla.

[00:21:46] You sure are.

[00:21:47] Okay. Wow, Bran, that one sounds like they were in a contest to see how fast this song could

[00:23:02] play.

[00:23:03] That's interesting.

[00:23:04] You know, it's I'll Be Home for Christmas. How have we not done that song? That can't be true. Doesn't make sense, right? According to Christmas Morning Podcasts slash songs, which is the source of truth, no, we haven't. There's one song with that, and there's an original song with a title similar to that, but I guess it just slipped through the cracks somehow.

[00:24:21] I'm honestly at a bit of a loss here, because I-

[00:24:23] I know you got a busy day still with NPR. I can't believe you got an interview with Mrs. Claus as well later today.

[00:25:40] This is a huge day for you.

[00:25:41] I don't think we should promise that, Brian,

[00:25:42] because she has not confirmed.

[00:25:44] So we'll see what happens.

[00:25:46] Ah, okay, sorry, sorry.

[00:25:47] I may speak out of turn.
