[00:00:30] This is a Bramble Jam Podcast.

[00:00:44] Live from the North Pole, it's time for Christmas morning. The daily show where everyday is Christmas. Here your host, Bramble and Scott!

[00:01:00] Well hello everybody! It's your good friend, Bramble! Back with another episode of Christmas morning and it wouldn't be Christmas morning without my good friend Scott. Scott, Merry Christmas to you buddy.

[00:01:15] That's awfully nice of you to say thank you, Bramble Merry Christmas to you.

[00:01:19] And by that I mean this podcast, it still is Christmas morning at my house on Christmas morning if you're not there. But I wouldn't do a podcast without you.

[00:01:28] I wish you were at my house on Christmas morning. Don't hear what I'm not saying. I'm just saying...

[00:01:33] Oh, I thought you were going to say I wish you weren't here with that. No, no, no! I may get work without you on actual Christmas morning in my house. I may get work but I can't do this show without you.

[00:01:43] Do you think we'll ever get to spend a real Christmas morning together? It's unlikely.

[00:01:47] Honestly doubtful. I know, not for lack of trying just because logistically it just wouldn't work out. Logistically, yeah it's a mess. It's a mess but who knows? I mean I do love Colorado. Speaking of Colorado, give me a snow update because I know you were last week, you were hyping it up, you're talking maybe 16 inches or something like that was a possibility. What did you end up getting?

[00:02:09] We got over 19 inches. It was a lot, it was awesome. The only downside was that we lost internet for 24 hours but not during the storm it was after I don't know if a snow plow ran into a transformer.

[00:02:24] I have no idea how these things work. Now did phone service still work? Could you use data? Yes cellular worked but we had no television either so it was just the clown car at Comcast driven by a bunch of clowns that couldn't get their service back up and it was rough.

[00:02:38] Yeah, but at least you were like totally without you could in theory have put something on your phone or something. Yes my kid was using cellular to watch YouTube videos. Have you ever had to explain to your kids why the internet is not working? No, I tried to avoid those type of conversations as much as boss because I don't know. I don't know how it works man. Yeah there's a busted wire somewhere that's what it was. Everybody is up there doing something and it causes it all to work until it doesn't.

[00:03:07] Until it doesn't exactly right and they take everyone takes a day off. Everyone takes a day off. You know I should consider myself lucky we didn't lose power we didn't lose heat anything like that it was just a now school is still gets canceled for 19 inches out that way.

[00:03:20] School did get canceled for two days for that. Wow that's how you know it's serious. Well it was two days before spring break so now it's like an 11 day spring break or something. That's the dream right there. My kids are on spring break this week and they're actually with me right now. They're having a snowball fight outside.

[00:03:36] But if you hear them come in that's what's going on but I they also had Friday off. No for no real reason aside from let's just get a jump start on the spring break thing I guess. I don't really know as a teacher work day which as a teacher men's teacher play day at least that's how I that's how I I took it this is a play day I'm going to go play with my friend Dan down the down the hall. That's right that's right. Hey why don't we dip into the old male bag and see what's in here.

[00:04:05] I would love to. I've got two today the first one a shorter one from Melanie Marie she says I love my Christmas morning person cardigan it's so comfy and even down here in Orlando I used it the entire week leading up to Christmas especially when I went to have pancakes with Santa.

[00:04:28] I told brand what I saw him on our cruise that all it needed was pockets and it would be perfect well unfortunately we're not the ones responsible for sewing this.

[00:04:37] I do really noted it would be nice. I do love that that card again I'm a big fan of it and I will say for those that maybe forgot Christmas morning podcast comes last shop if you would like to get there's a shirt there's a hat there's a cardigan there's a sticker there's a mug all sorts of fun stuff.

[00:04:56] It's excellent and Melanie did send us a photo of her rocking this cardigan and looking fabulous I'm going to put that on our social media.

[00:05:04] I love that idea what else you got I have one more email this one's from Jill Garcia she says Mary Christmas brand in Scott I recently spent a weekend in Santa Fe New Mexico and my husband and I spent the better part of the day at the Santa

[00:05:16] Fe growers market and rail yards arts and crafts exhibit the Santa Fe growers market round yards arts and crafts exhibit might want to think about shortening their name it doesn't exactly roll off the tongue.

[00:05:26] Yeah I will the Santa Fe growers market sounds like somebody who wants to fancy up drug dealing that's what that sounds like yeah exactly it sounds like a bunch of grow lights.

[00:05:36] The Santa Fe growers market okay it's right you can't get in trouble for that we're growing orchids my butt as we were sitting at a table with our Mexican hot cocos which are amazing red chili is added in sorry Scott so is cinnamon a unique older

[00:05:51] gentleman asked to join us we were chatting and I asked him if he gets comments about looking like a thin Santa Claus or St Nicholas well this tall and live gentleman with a long white beard told us he's actually a Santa

[00:06:05] Claus for hire and wears suits to make him look heavier you know Jolly like a bowl full of jelly as the poem says he lets his beard grow long and zizi topish until holiday time when he trims it to a rounded edge at Christmas time he noted he has a semi book schedule throughout the year playing Gandalf from Lord of the Rings

[00:06:24] and books up around Halloween for that role and then Santa Claus during the holiday season and he's also available for Moses and has long linen tunics for that one this is a very interesting person

[00:06:35] Brandon can we have no kidding we had a nice time chatting and as we left I mentioned may I be the first to wish you a Merry Christmas this year and he laughed and told me to always keep Christmas in my heart every day of the year.

[00:06:48] I knew you two would like to know this kind of spirit is spreading the Christmas cheer in the Santa Fe area thanks for the podcast and especially the monthly Christmas parties I really need those as extra cheer when the Christmas hoopla is in short supply.

[00:07:01] I would also like to nominate listener and contributor Lenora Gilbert for honorary North Pole residency as her reports and sled segment were so much fun to hear Merry Christmas to you all and TV Scotty Larry Shannon at all.

[00:07:16] Thank you Jill very nice and speaking of Christmas party episodes we have one coming out I believe it's next Monday the 25th which is going to be very exciting and do we have some good stuff Scotty.

[00:07:29] We do have some good emails I've got one audio segment if you want to get something in do it today or tomorrow I think today.

[00:07:36] I'm supporting with Shannon at the end of the week she is confirmed which is great news and I would also like to echo the sentiment here Lenora Gilbert is absolutely wonderful she's one of my favorite elves in the world she is so selfless with her time and always gives us wonderful stuff.

[00:07:52] If she told me she was a real elf I would not be surprised. Oh it wouldn't shock me at all.

[00:07:57] I have a podcast review if you would like it Scotty we have no new ones from last week we had that nice little jump to 242 which is where we remain today but I do have a review from Cmots 12 that says Christmas for life.

[00:08:12] I found Christmas morning through the deck the home our podcast and I'm so glad that I did I'm a newcomer newcomer I'm a newcomer January 24 so I'm even more excited about the daily episodes when the most wonderful time of year rolls around.

[00:08:26] Again I just had a Christmas December wedding so you could say I'm a huge fan of the season I also have a December wedding and as does Scotty I think it's a prerequisite to being a part of the show.

[00:08:41] Yeah mine was actually the 26th December that's serious right there.

[00:08:45] I have a fun question for Brandon Scott oh this is funny don't really get this often.

[00:08:50] If you were on a deserted island which famous quote unquote Christmas character would you want with you and why the teacher in me loves a good thinking question thanks for spreading cheer throughout the whole year

[00:09:04] keep making others smile I I don't know does this it would buddy buddy the elf would be considered a Christmas character at this point right.

[00:09:13] I'm going with buddy the elf because I enjoyed watching him explore New York for the first time and I imagine watching him explored deserted island would be equally as amusing so that's what I'm going to go with buddy the final answer.

[00:09:27] And mine is a more practical answer I would want her me from Rudolph because if I hurt my tooth then he could fix it.

[00:09:34] It's a very specific fear to have on the desert my my fear on the deserted island whether or not I can get off or not but you're just like I want to be here for the long haul and I need someone to keep a look out on my teeth.

[00:09:47] Man you ever had toothpaste those are long days yeah sure are absolutely hey do you got a joke for us by chance I do but you got to put your thinking cap on for this one okay oh boy I love it when the jokes.

[00:09:58] The best what do you call an art museum that's made of snow and art museum that's made of snow.

[00:10:07] Um the snow moly so close okay it's the igloo.

[00:10:15] It's funny it's funny it's tough it's tough what are we to count down.

[00:10:20] Go to the world.

[00:10:25] 280 days until the wrist.

[00:10:30] 28280 a nice round number for you Scotty I know you love the round numbers and only 40 weeks wow round on top of round today I like that.

[00:10:42] Yes the Christmas past podcast has been posting these really pretty graphics on social media with the number of weeks and a lot of keeps retweeting those or re-socializing them whatever you want to call it.

[00:10:53] Yeah posting them on the story the other day I saw it and I was like huh that's a lot lower than it seems even though we read these every week sometimes they just go by as part of the notes yes

[00:11:04] and then you catch it in the wild you're like wow that's that's something I also want to mention that it's only 195 days until October 1st.

[00:11:15] Charge yeah 27 weeks until that one I love it I love it and I love the news.

[00:11:27] Today is much 20th has the news Scotty as a newfound fan of Arnold Schwarzenegger's jingle all the way well is that the guy am I miss interpreting that might be a bit much as a super fan what do you want to mega fan die hard fan what do you want to say as a person who has seen a film with Arnold Schwarzenegger.

[00:11:52] Arnold is getting back in the Christmas movie wagon he is set to return to the Christmas movie scene not with a jingle all the way sequel because that's already been tainted by Larry the cable guy and studies going to do a movie for Amazon MGM studio so I guess it would be on prime maybe I don't know

[00:12:13] the man with the bag is the name of the movie them the man with the bags centers on Santa Claus learning that his magic bag has been swiped leading old Satanic the team up with Vince a reform thief and

[00:12:28] Dennis Dennis and sure yes sure of the naughty list to get it back the duo has also enlisted Vince a vance's daughter and a team of miss fit elves to help them save Christmas I believe that Arnold is going to be playing that big old thief I believe

[00:12:46] and Alan Richardson not Rick that one confused me when I first read it out like wow how are they how are they going to do that one yeah I mean he does have a face that I recognize this guy but I don't know I don't know I don't really look like every freaking movie star anyway he's in the the that

[00:13:06] show I believe that's also impractical but he's a he's a good looking fellow so I think he Santa and Arnold Arnold is the big bad thief that's going to I don't I don't know for sure when does this come out this year I believe okay yeah that's great that's exciting so there you go Arnold he's been I've seen Arnold in a movie

[00:13:25] in a while so that's fun he I know it doesn't need to do those movies with all the other washed up action stars what is it how I know what you're talking about it's going to Helen Mirren and someone else in it are the expendables that's the one you're thinking of isn't it yeah I do like a movie that takes a unique storyline

[00:13:46] and doesn't just rehash everything although the other day I heard your review on deck the hallmark of a 2B movie where they kind of went off script the whole Santa thing there were some adult themes that it did not sound yes yes that is correct what do we take a break I hear TV Scotty knocking at the door he's ready I love that let's do it

[00:14:16] and I never stop getting it earlier 3.2 million online appointments never stop making life easier and over 220 locations never stop providing exceptional care exceptionally close by getting better never stops learn more at suitor health dot org

[00:17:46] There you go.

[00:17:47] This time for the Christmas music battle.

[00:17:49] Let's get to last week.

[00:17:51] Boy, am I excited about this one?

[00:17:53] The original Christmas music battle was last week.

[00:17:57] Let's get to the results.

[00:17:59] Another relatively big blow out this week.

[00:18:03] And last place is we can't sleep.

[00:18:06] It's Christmas Eve by Retro Fits.

[00:18:12] I can't believe that this one didn't win.

[00:18:14] It was a listener one and if you know Lance Garmin,

[00:18:17] you know he loves the synth.

[00:18:19] So thank you for sending that in one.

[00:18:22] And it's Chris Damsey.

[00:18:24] We don't know if the typo is intentional or not.

[00:18:27] When it comes to electronic music like that,

[00:18:32] you never know.

[00:18:34] There's a new stuff out there.

[00:18:36] With one more vote than that one in second place

[00:18:39] is North Coast Christmas by the modern electric.

[00:18:44] I brought this one.

[00:18:46] I didn't think it was going to win.

[00:18:47] It was catchy.

[00:18:48] I really liked it.

[00:18:49] It's a nice little fun little ditty.

[00:18:52] Which means in first place with way more votes,

[00:18:55] 52.2% of the votes is fairytale Christmas by Dominic Brooke.

[00:19:01] I'm not surprised by this victory Scotty.

[00:19:04] I'm a little bit surprised.

[00:19:06] I didn't know if people were going to resonate

[00:19:08] with the kind of spoken word hip-hop feel to it.

[00:19:12] And you're right.

[00:19:13] It has a Jason Marez and I think I said G-Love

[00:19:15] and special sauce kind of thing.

[00:19:17] Boy did it blow out the other one.

[00:19:19] Yes sure did.

[00:19:20] The funny thing, the hard thing about getting old everybody

[00:19:23] is it's hard to remember stuff.

[00:19:25] I couldn't remember because I just says what each song was.

[00:19:30] It doesn't say who brought it on the voting page

[00:19:32] and I was like, that's a good one.

[00:19:34] And it turns out I brought it.

[00:19:36] So how about that?

[00:19:37] I'm proud of you.

[00:19:38] That's great news.

[00:19:40] It's tough.

[00:19:41] But here's the good news Scotty is for people like myself

[00:19:45] that haven't won in a few weeks.

[00:19:47] It's a new week.

[00:19:48] It's a new week.

[00:19:49] Another battle is here.

[00:19:50] It is a new week and I didn't realize how close things are.

[00:19:53] I think it's four to three to three now, isn't it?

[00:19:55] It's very close yes.

[00:19:57] I love it when a battle is like that.

[00:19:59] No one wants to run away.

[00:20:00] Absolutely.

[00:20:01] And this week is instrumental Christmas music week

[00:20:04] which is always a good time.

[00:20:05] I'm excited to hear the three options we have.

[00:20:07] But first do you have any fun facts or trivia for us?

[00:20:10] Yes I do and this one's surprised me.

[00:20:13] In 2009, PRS for music, whatever that is,

[00:20:17] some sort of organization estimated that 42%

[00:20:20] of the earth's population has heard Slades Mary Christmas everybody.

[00:20:25] How does that compare to any of the other Christmas songs?

[00:20:28] That was not discussed in the factoid.

[00:20:31] I'm thinking of Shaken Stevens, Mary Christmas everyone.

[00:20:35] What's Mary Christmas?

[00:20:37] How does that one go?

[00:20:38] It is very confusing to try to keep the two straight.

[00:20:41] I know.

[00:20:42] Oh yeah, yeah.

[00:20:43] Here it is Mary Christmas everybody's kind of in fun.

[00:20:51] Yeah that's right.

[00:20:52] Thank you 42% of the earth's population has heard that somehow.

[00:20:56] That's not a good title for that song.

[00:20:58] It should be here in his Merry Christmas or everybody's having fun or something.

[00:21:02] Brain, brain, brain, brain, brain people have really strong feelings about this song.

[00:21:06] We should probably stop.

[00:21:07] I like this song.

[00:21:08] I'm just saying it's not a good title.

[00:21:11] That's all I'm saying.

[00:21:12] The views expressed by Brandon and Gray are not necessarily those of music Scotty

[00:21:16] or the Christmas morning podcast.

[00:21:17] So Scotty doesn't like this song is the big takeaway.

[00:21:20] I have no strong feelings on the title and I'm sticking with it.

[00:21:23] I'm moving right along.

[00:21:25] Instrumental battles.

[00:21:26] Yes, instrumental battles.

[00:21:27] It's always a good time.

[00:21:28] Let's find out what we got this week.

[00:21:29] First is God our esteemed Mary Gentlement,

[00:21:32] a great title for a song because it says it in the song.

[00:21:35] This is by Kent, our arms barge.

[00:22:35] I love the island vibes, Brian.

[00:22:42] The island vibes are alive and well and after last week's win for the little island flare maybe we'll see how popular the island is Scotty.

[00:22:50] Yeah, we'll see.

[00:22:51] We'll see.

[00:22:52] It's a good test for the island of Nexus Slayrad by Warren Wolf.

[00:23:05] This is a great time.

[00:23:10] It's a great time.

[00:23:14] It's a great time.

[00:23:19] It's a great time.

[00:23:23] The island vibes are alive and well and after last week's win for the little island flare maybe we'll see.

[00:23:57] I'm not sure where the distinction lies between the two.

[00:24:00] I think one is a bigger version of the other.

[00:24:02] That was awesome.

[00:24:03] I like that and it's not only are they hitting the, whatever those are called, Marimbles.

[00:24:08] The keys.

[00:24:09] It's also hitting my heart.

[00:24:10] It's hitting my heart.

[00:24:11] Oh yeah, it is.

[00:24:12] See what I did there?

[00:24:13] Last but not least, it's the Christmas saxophone medley by Sebastian Alliella and Ditto Coutes.

[00:24:53] I am getting the Kenny G vibes from that one, Brian.

[00:25:21] There's no missing what that is.

[00:25:24] That is a Christmas saxophone medley, another great title because it is what it says it is.

[00:25:31] Yes and it is like a four minute song and I could only pull a 30 or 60 second clip so you don't get the full extent of the medley.

[00:25:39] I would encourage you to go listen to the whole thing.

[00:25:41] It's a great album.

[00:25:42] You know what I liked about the way in which they had mic'd up the sax there?

[00:25:47] You could hear the fingers moving.

[00:25:51] Oh, the keys clicking.

[00:25:53] You know also sometimes depending on the type of piano you can hear kind of the keys themselves move.

[00:26:02] That's what you got out of that saxophone.

[00:26:05] It's like you can hear the stickiness of it.

[00:26:07] It gives you the feeling like you're right up close in there.

[00:26:10] I liked it.

[00:26:11] That was good.

[00:26:12] Thanks for submissions this week from Elizabeth Nelson, Lance Garmin, Angela Moss, John Rice and Pondo.

[00:26:17] Thank you all for submitting.

[00:26:19] And I did check the spam folder.

[00:26:20] There were none.

[00:26:21] Let's do Slades, Mary, Xmas everybody.

[00:26:25] No, we did that already.

[00:26:26] Did we out?

[00:26:27] Yes, we did.

[00:26:28] Well apparently only 42% of the people know that song exists.

[00:26:33] Yeah, we're trying to reach that other 58%.

[00:26:35] It's our new missions.

[00:26:37] So in the backlog here we have a holiday road.

[00:26:40] Maybe it's cold outside underneath the tree and I believe in Father Christmas.

[00:26:45] You're pick.

[00:26:46] Yeah, you don't have to go from the backlog.

[00:26:48] You can just pick a random one if you would like.

[00:26:51] Yeah, this is tough.

[00:26:52] None of those songs are sticking out to me very much.

[00:26:56] Do you know if we've done... have we done a little St. Nick?

[00:26:59] Oh, I don't think we have.

[00:27:01] Let me just do a quick search here, little St. Nick.

[00:27:04] We have not.

[00:27:05] We have not done little St. Nick.

[00:27:06] Let's do it, little St. Nick.

[00:27:07] Hold on.

[00:27:08] Do we know that bandcamp has a good sample?

[00:27:10] Of course they do.

[00:27:11] Let me just...

[00:27:12] It's a little St. Nick.

[00:27:14] Oh yeah.

[00:27:15] There are two pages.

[00:27:18] That's enough.

[00:27:19] That's it!

[00:27:20] Let's do it.

[00:27:21] Let's do it.

[00:27:22] Why not?

[00:27:23] Hey everybody, it's Future Scotty in an omission that will surprise nobody.

[00:27:27] We've already done this song.

[00:27:29] We did it on August 31st, 2022.

[00:27:33] But we're going to go ahead and still do it anyway.

[00:27:35] So the ones that we cannot use are by the robot and the wizard,

[00:27:39] Fuzzle and the Good Lovelies.

[00:27:41] Otherwise go to bandcamp.com search for little St. Nick

[00:27:44] and send me your choice to ChristmasMoneyPodcast.gmail.com.

[00:27:48] Thanks.

[00:27:49] But you and I should get our picks in early because the pickings are going to be slim once the listeners start writing it.

[00:27:56] Little St. Nick.

[00:27:57] So I will... get me your pick.

[00:28:00] We'll have our friend Tony Dixon be the official record keeper.

[00:28:06] And he'll know, I'll tell him which ones we pick so there can't be any listeners that said we just

[00:28:11] Tailed off of their suggestions.

[00:28:13] Yeah, there is an isotopes version Scotty.

[00:28:15] Oh well that one's going to be the one I pick.

[00:28:17] So that's easy.

[00:28:18] Really?

[00:28:19] No problem everyone.

[00:28:20] Spoiler alert everybody.

[00:28:21] Merry Christmas everyone.

[00:28:23] I hope that everybody's having fun.

[00:28:24] It's having fun.

[00:28:25] Sorry.

[00:28:26] I hope everybody did have fun today.

[00:28:29] And hopefully you have a wonderful week.

[00:28:30] We're going to be back on Monday with the party episode and then...

[00:28:33] Wait a minute I just realized something.

[00:28:34] Go ahead.

[00:28:35] It goes, so here it is, Merry Christmas everybody's having fun.

[00:28:39] Merry Christmas everybody.

[00:28:40] It's right there.

[00:28:41] So the title isn't that far.

[00:28:43] It's just not easy to come up with the song.

[00:28:46] Okay.

[00:28:47] Do you think they released that song and then Merry Christmas everyone came out and they were like, come on!

[00:28:52] There it is, Merry Christmas.

[00:28:54] Everybody's having fun.

[00:28:56] The problem is in my head as I see the song, it's a line break.

[00:29:01] Yes, I'm with you.

[00:29:02] I'm with you.

[00:29:03] It is.

[00:29:04] We have a line break situation.

[00:29:05] It's tough.

[00:29:06] We have a line break situation, so I'm live.

[00:29:07] We'll be back next week two episodes Monday with Christmas party and then Wednesday with a regularly scheduled program.

[00:29:13] Until then...

[00:29:14] Merry Christmas.
