[00:00:02] This is a Bramble Jam Podcast
[00:00:12] It's the Christmas Morning Podcast, everyone join if you can Christmas greatest fans Scott and Bram, here for you and me
[00:00:26] That's right, we're Christmas biggest fans. It's in the song.
[00:00:30] Welcome to the show! I guess we should do that. I'm Bram. Scott is with me. We are Christmas's biggest fans.
[00:00:35] As the song says, welcome to Christmas Morning, a daily show all about Christmas.
[00:00:40] Monday through Friday, every workday, now through Christmas we will be with you.
[00:00:46] And the sad news is that today's Friday, which means it's the last one of the week.
[00:00:50] That's not that sad.
[00:00:51] It's a little bit sad. I'm a little bit sad.
[00:00:53] I don't know. I'm looking forward to the weekend, but I'm glad to be here today.
[00:00:57] And I really want to open up that mailbag. Can I do that?
[00:01:00] Let's do it.
[00:01:02] Letters. We get letters.
[00:01:04] Letters. We get stacks and stacks of letters.
[00:01:08] I've got an email from Molly Valelli. Molly says,
[00:01:11] Hi, Brandon Scott. Hi.
[00:01:13] I recently discovered a fun Christmas activity that I might be late to the party for,
[00:01:16] since it's been around for a few years now,
[00:01:18] but it will definitely interest some of the Christmas Morning listeners.
[00:01:21] It's a BYOB Christmas Light Trolley Tour.
[00:01:25] Ooh!
[00:01:26] It's basically a Christmas party on a trolley that visits seasonal attractions, holiday landmarks, and lighting displays.
[00:01:34] They even have trivia, music, and prizes on the trolley.
[00:01:37] It's only in 10 cities right now, but more are being added next year.
[00:01:41] My friends and I are planning on taking a trolley tour this year, so I'll report back if it's a good time.
[00:01:46] And she sent the link. It's HolidayLightsTrolley.com.
[00:01:50] Thank you, Molly.
[00:01:50] This is rad. I obviously, I don't know about this because they're not in my city, but very cool.
[00:01:58] This looks like it's a lot of fun and a really good idea.
[00:02:00] I'm surprised that I'm just now hearing about this.
[00:02:03] It's apparently been going on for 10 years.
[00:02:05] This is their 10th year of service.
[00:02:07] I like the idea of being driven around to look at lights.
[00:02:10] The fact that there's a whole bunch of other people, though, that makes it hit or miss for me,
[00:02:14] because there might be some really irritating drunk people, and that would kind of spoil it for me.
[00:02:18] So I don't know. But Molly, let us know how it works out for you.
[00:02:21] You got to go in expecting the drunk people and let that be a part of the fun, Scotty.
[00:02:28] It's all about expectations.
[00:02:29] I'll do a senior trolley tour where everyone's quiet and half asleep.
[00:02:34] That sounds perfect to me.
[00:02:35] You just hand them tea, nighty night tea. Take this.
[00:02:38] Oh, maybe some of that sleepy time tea. Love that.
[00:02:40] That's right.
[00:02:42] I've got one more email.
[00:02:43] Oh, yes, yes.
[00:02:44] This is from Shelby Watwood.
[00:02:45] Shelby says, Hi, Brandon Scott. Last year, I started Reindeer Games for my family.
[00:02:51] It was 10 rounds of Minute to Win It style games.
[00:02:54] Oh, yeah.
[00:02:54] I'm working on planning this year's Reindeer Games.
[00:02:57] What games would you want included if you were doing Reindeer Games?
[00:03:01] Now, Brandon, I don't have any great ideas here, but we have some of the most creative listeners.
[00:03:06] So I thought I'd put it out to the Christmas Morning People family and say, if you have any ideas for what would be good reindeer games for Shelby, write in Christmas Morning Podcast at gmail.com.
[00:03:17] Let us know.
[00:03:18] I'll start putting them all together and then we'll do it later on in the season for Shelby.
[00:03:22] I like that.
[00:03:23] And Shelby, if you have one that you think is your favorite, let us know what's the best one.
[00:03:28] Maybe Scotty and I will give it a shot.
[00:03:29] The first thing that came to mind was, because I'm holding marshmallows, was some sort of chubby bunny situation.
[00:03:35] You ever played chubby bunny?
[00:03:36] Is this where you put marshmallows in your mouth?
[00:03:38] And you try to say chubby bunny.
[00:03:39] We cannot be responsible for whatever happens with that.
[00:03:42] Yeah, it was banned.
[00:03:46] Yeah, probably rightfully so.
[00:03:48] Yeah.
[00:03:48] You hate to see that.
[00:03:50] I don't hate to see these marshmallows, though.
[00:03:52] We got three different versions here, Scotty.
[00:03:54] We got a original, I guess, and it's pink.
[00:03:58] Do you see this?
[00:03:59] It's Santa.
[00:04:00] Yeah, this is the Yulskum.
[00:04:01] This is what originally sparked this whole thing from Jimmy here.
[00:04:05] This is the original one, I guess.
[00:04:07] It's shaped like Santa.
[00:04:08] It's pink.
[00:04:09] It's white.
[00:04:10] Reminds me of the bunny from Christmas Story.
[00:04:12] I don't think I like flavored marshmallows.
[00:04:14] I think it's something.
[00:04:16] Gotta try this year's.
[00:04:17] Okay.
[00:04:18] It's pear, P-E-A-R, pear a dice.
[00:04:22] Uh-oh.
[00:04:23] Mm.
[00:04:24] It does have a little bit of a pull to it, like a dog's chew toy.
[00:04:29] All right.
[00:04:29] Let me do this.
[00:04:30] So this is, yeah.
[00:04:31] I do like, if for no other reason, I'm happy that I got these because the packaging is fantastic.
[00:04:36] Yeah, they're awesome.
[00:04:37] All right.
[00:04:37] Let me get this up.
[00:04:38] If you don't like hearing chewing, skip ahead 30.
[00:04:42] That pear flavor brand.
[00:04:43] I like that.
[00:04:45] An intense pear flavor.
[00:04:47] I am so thankful to have tried these.
[00:04:51] I am so thankful that they were sent to me.
[00:04:54] Gotta try the Christmas tree one.
[00:04:55] Okay.
[00:04:55] It has a gummy candy on half of it, and I think the texture's a little different.
[00:04:58] You might like that one a little bit more.
[00:05:00] And I want to finish this pear one.
[00:05:02] Okay.
[00:05:02] This is interesting.
[00:05:03] I'll describe brands while he chews it.
[00:05:05] It's a Christmas tree shape.
[00:05:07] The back half is marshmallow.
[00:05:09] The front half is some sort of green translucent gummy material.
[00:05:13] I think the gummy part adds something to it.
[00:05:15] I agree.
[00:05:15] It changes the texture a little bit.
[00:05:17] I like that.
[00:05:18] I think this is my favorite one.
[00:05:19] That one is really good.
[00:05:20] I liked it quite a bit.
[00:05:21] Jimmy, thank you so much for taking the time to get all these, to ship it to us.
[00:05:27] So thoughtful, so generous of you.
[00:05:29] We can't thank you enough.
[00:05:30] I think that the star for me, and I think you would agree, is that orange chocolate.
[00:05:35] That is...
[00:05:35] You and my wife love that.
[00:05:37] Man.
[00:05:37] I think I have to hold it at arm's length because my pancreas decided to up and quit
[00:05:41] a few years ago.
[00:05:42] Sure.
[00:05:43] And I just can't have as much as I'd like.
[00:05:45] I have never had such a profound orange flavor in a candy.
[00:05:49] It was wonderful.
[00:05:50] Really cool stuff.
[00:05:51] I'm happy that I tried it.
[00:05:52] Even though the marshmallows might not be a thing that I reached for, I'm happy that
[00:05:58] I tried them there.
[00:05:59] Did you like the marshmallow better when it was covered with chocolate?
[00:06:01] I did.
[00:06:02] Okay.
[00:06:02] I liked it better without, so to each their own.
[00:06:05] This is why restaurants have menus.
[00:06:07] But also keep in mind, I liked the regular chocolate one more than I liked the flavor.
[00:06:13] I just don't think I like flavored marshmallow, I think is what it comes down to.
[00:06:18] I liked that pear so much.
[00:06:20] That was the star of the show for this week for me.
[00:06:23] Well, there you go.
[00:06:24] How about that?
[00:06:24] Look at us.
[00:06:25] We're so international.
[00:06:27] And a reminder, slots are available for all of our other international listeners.
[00:06:30] The bar has been set, and it's been set very high.
[00:06:33] Let's get to the joke.
[00:06:34] You got anything for us?
[00:06:35] Yeah, I saved the best one for Friday.
[00:06:37] Okay, we'll see.
[00:06:39] Okay.
[00:06:39] How much does it cost to run Santa's sleigh?
[00:06:43] How much does it cost to run Santa's sleigh?
[00:06:47] I have no idea.
[00:06:49] Eight bucks or nine if the weather's bad.
[00:06:52] All right.
[00:06:54] All right.
[00:06:55] He's back.
[00:06:56] That one was pretty good.
[00:06:58] That's good.
[00:06:58] All of those this week came from thepioneerwoman.com.
[00:07:01] I think I've exhausted the site, but that's okay.
[00:07:04] Yeah, I really liked that one.
[00:07:06] Really good job this week, Scotty.
[00:07:08] You redeemed yourself on a lackluster first week.
[00:07:11] And I think we would all agree.
[00:07:12] I think we'd all agree.
[00:07:13] Maybe the joke's last week.
[00:07:15] Icebergers?
[00:07:16] I heard it.
[00:07:18] I went back and I listened.
[00:07:20] And I was like, this is as wonderful as I remember it.
[00:07:24] I told it to Emma last night.
[00:07:26] She didn't get it either.
[00:07:27] Iceberg.
[00:07:29] Iceberg-er.
[00:07:30] Burgers.
[00:07:30] Iceberg-er.
[00:07:31] Iceberg-er.
[00:07:33] Let's get to the news.
[00:07:34] No.
[00:07:35] Sorry.
[00:07:35] It's a countdown.
[00:07:41] Days until Christmas.
[00:07:44] Oh my goodness, Scotty.
[00:07:46] 40.
[00:07:46] 4-0.
[00:07:48] Not a prime number, but a good number.
[00:07:50] Yeah.
[00:07:51] The big 4-0.
[00:07:52] That's crazy.
[00:07:53] I love this.
[00:07:54] And here's what I want people to do.
[00:07:55] Tomorrow.
[00:07:56] It's going to be Saturday.
[00:07:57] There's no episode.
[00:07:58] 39 days.
[00:07:58] So I want you to out loud say, 39 days until Christmas.
[00:08:03] It'll be our interactive segment.
[00:08:05] Everyone do it at 11 a.m. Eastern.
[00:08:07] How about that?
[00:08:07] Look at you.
[00:08:08] Should I start releasing a two-second episode that's just me saying the day?
[00:08:13] Can we put two ads in it?
[00:08:14] Yeah.
[00:08:14] We'll make money off.
[00:08:15] Sure.
[00:08:18] Let's get to the news.
[00:08:23] Saturday is November 15th.
[00:08:26] Here's the news.
[00:08:29] Well, we've made it this long, Scotty, without mentioning Mariah Carey.
[00:08:33] I figured it would be a good time to bring up Mariah Carey, who always has something going
[00:08:42] on this time of year because of her song, All I Want for Christmas is You.
[00:08:46] And there is a Mariah Carey Christmas pop-up experience.
[00:08:51] I don't like any of those words.
[00:08:52] That is going to be coming to a few different hotels.
[00:08:55] Chicago, New York, New Orleans, Nashville, and Dallas are going to have a pop-up.
[00:09:02] Now, pop-ups are a thing these days.
[00:09:05] These pop-up bars that are themed to shows or movies or whatever.
[00:09:11] The same company that is doing this pop-up also did a Save by the Bell pop-up not too
[00:09:18] long ago.
[00:09:19] They've done a Buffy the Vampire Slayer pop-up.
[00:09:22] They're a thing.
[00:09:23] And so this year, this holiday season, there is an All I Want for Christmas is You pop-up,
[00:09:28] which is going to include some alcoholic beverages, if that is a thing that you partake in, as well
[00:09:36] as some fun foods, and then plenty of places where you can get a cool picture taken for your
[00:09:45] social media because that's the world that we live in.
[00:09:48] A very nice, I will add, a very nice little area.
[00:09:53] It's like an All I Want for Christmas is You neon sign, and you can go in there and take
[00:09:57] a picture, and it looks like a box.
[00:09:59] It's cool.
[00:09:59] It's cool.
[00:10:01] So that's happening.
[00:10:02] It's only happening in a few different cities, Chicago, New York, New Orleans, Nashville,
[00:10:06] and Dallas.
[00:10:07] And it is going to begin today, Friday, November 15th, and it's going to go until December 29th.
[00:10:14] So if you live in one of those cities and you end up going to this pop-up, send us some
[00:10:18] pictures.
[00:10:18] Let us know how it was.
[00:10:20] And I found out today that apparently she has an Irish cream brand, apparently, that she
[00:10:26] launched in 2021.
[00:10:27] I know you're a big Bayleys fan, Scotty.
[00:10:30] Yeah, never liked the flavor of that.
[00:10:32] Maybe this will be for you.
[00:10:35] For Carrie's Black Irish, is what it's called.
[00:10:38] Yeah, I'll pass.
[00:10:39] Anyway, this seems fun if this is your thing.
[00:10:42] I don't know.
[00:10:42] I don't know if I'd go if I was in the city.
[00:10:45] I would go look at it, probably.
[00:10:46] I'd be like, what do I do?
[00:10:47] Do you have to pay just to see it?
[00:10:48] I don't think you have to pay to see it.
[00:10:51] Whatever.
[00:10:51] If it makes somebody happy, great.
[00:10:53] Merry Christmas.
[00:10:54] That's right.
[00:10:55] Let's take a break.
[00:10:55] Let's take a break.
[00:10:56] We'll come back.
[00:10:57] We'll get to the TV listings and the instrumental Christmas music battle here on Christmas
[00:11:03] Morning.
[00:11:07] We're back, everybody.
[00:11:08] Welcome.
[00:11:09] We are excited today because it's Friday, which means we have a full weekend ahead of us where
[00:11:15] we can watch some Christmas movies, maybe a little Christmas TV.
[00:11:19] There's a lot coming at us since there's only one person that can keep it all straight.
[00:11:23] It's TV Scotty.

[00:13:51] Thanks, TV Scotty.
[00:13:52] That was great.
[00:13:54] Let's get to the instrumental Christmas music battle, Scotty.
[00:13:57] It's your favorite day of the week.
[00:13:58] You love the instrumental battle.
[00:13:59] I absolutely love the instrumental battle.
[00:14:02] It's my favorite kind of Christmas music to listen to.
[00:14:05] Let's see what we've got.
[00:14:06] Let's see.
[00:14:07] Up first, we're going to do This Christmas by Night Owls.
[00:15:17] Okay, Brian, I liked the idea of that.
[00:15:20] I wish there was more of a melodic lead line because it sounded a little more like a karaoke
[00:15:24] track.
[00:15:24] But I love reggae Christmas music.
[00:15:27] Well, you know what I appreciate about that?
[00:15:28] They were like, we know you're going to sing along to this.
[00:15:31] So let's just give you the space to do so.
[00:15:33] And I love This Christmas.
[00:15:35] The original Donny Hathaway, what a version.
[00:15:37] I don't know if I've ever heard a version of This Christmas that I've been like, oh.
[00:15:41] I guarantee we could go to a band camp and find one that's true.
[00:15:46] Anyone with a band name is so-and-so's family.
[00:15:49] Yeah.
[00:15:50] This Christmas.
[00:15:52] It's cute to you, folks.
[00:15:54] That's right.
[00:15:54] Not to us.
[00:15:54] That's right.
[00:15:55] Let's get to the second one.
[00:15:57] This is Jingle Bells by George G.
[00:16:00] Swing Orchestra.
[00:16:01] Ooh.
[00:16:02] Oh, Brian, big band sounding there.
[00:17:03] I liked that.
[00:17:05] George G.
[00:17:07] Apparently is from New York.
[00:17:08] New York, New York.
[00:17:10] Not the first time the George G.
[00:17:11] Swing Orchestra has appeared on our battle.
[00:17:15] Full album.
[00:17:15] Oh, boy.
[00:17:16] I know what I'm doing the rest of the day.
[00:17:17] I'm going to listen to some George G.
[00:17:19] Take the day off, folks.
[00:17:20] How about that?
[00:17:20] How about you take a couple days off?
[00:17:22] It's the weekend.
[00:17:23] We're going to take a couple days off, and then we're going to be back on the rest of the
[00:17:25] Monday with another full week of Christmas morning.
[00:17:28] We are getting closer and closer to Christmas, but specifically, we're getting closer and
[00:17:32] closer to Thanksgiving, which is exciting.
[00:17:35] Maybe we'll have some more Thanksgiving-related content beginning next week because it's
[00:17:39] right.
[00:17:39] Maybe somebody will send us a turkey.
[00:17:41] How about that?
[00:17:41] My belly is full of candy, and it does not feel good right now.
[00:17:44] That's fair.
[00:17:45] That's fair.
[00:17:45] A lot of marshmallow.
[00:17:47] Let's get some turkey to soak it up.
[00:17:50] Some gravy.
[00:17:51] Anyone got a couple quarts of gravy for me?
[00:17:53] That's right.
[00:17:53] Guzzle it on down.
[00:17:54] We'll be back on Monday with another week.
[00:17:56] Thank you so much for listening.
[00:17:57] Until then, Merry Christmas.
[00:18:09] You're about to hear some ads that help pay for our trip back and forth to the North Pole.
[00:18:13] Feel free to listen.
[00:18:14] Feel free to bail now.
[00:18:15] But either way, thanks for being here.
[00:18:18] Ho, ho, ho.
[00:18:19] Ho, ho.
[00:18:20] Ho, ho.
