[00:00:00] This is a Bramble Jam Podcast Live from the North Pole, it's time for Christmas morning.

[00:00:18] The Daily Show where everyday is Christmas.

[00:00:23] Here are your host, Bramble Jam Podcast Live.

[00:00:33] Well hello everybody and welcome to another episode of Christmas Morning.

[00:00:38] I'm your friend Bramble and I am here with my friend, your friend, the entire world's

[00:00:42] friend.

[00:00:43] Scott, Scott, Merry Christmas to you buddy.

[00:00:45] I'm the entire world's friend.

[00:00:47] The entire world.

[00:00:48] I love it.

[00:00:49] Everybody who knows you calls you friend.

[00:00:52] Oh, I like that.

[00:00:53] Merry Christmas buddy.

[00:00:54] How's it going?

[00:00:55] It is going great.

[00:00:56] We are about to head into another month.

[00:01:00] The calendar is about to change again, Scottie, which is it just, it's hard to believe and

[00:01:05] as part of the fun of doing this show is sometimes Scott, you're moving along and you're like

[00:01:12] it's so, so long until Christmas but then you get little things like turning the calendar

[00:01:17] to April and you're like honestly though, this year's kind of flying by.

[00:01:21] So it's a good reminder each week that Christmas is not as far as it seems.

[00:01:25] That's right and our first email today mentions this so can I open up the mailbag?

[00:01:29] Oh, good segway, let's do it.

[00:01:33] Let us, we get letters, we get snacks, snacks, snacks, so letters.

[00:01:39] We only have one email today.

[00:01:41] It's from Nicholas Linsman.

[00:01:43] Talking about St. Nick?

[00:01:44] Yeah, I thought you were talking about St. Nick.

[00:01:45] Yeah, yeah, yeah.

[00:01:46] Yeah, that's right.

[00:01:47] He says Merry Christmas, fellas just finished up the Christmas party for March and hearing

[00:01:51] that we are nine months away until tomorrow, the big day really hits different being that

[00:01:56] it's a single digit.

[00:01:58] As always I really enjoyed the party and we'll be ready for Wednesday morning show and he

[00:02:02] signed it Nicholas St. Nick Linsman and he finishes by saying, PS, I will send over some video

[00:02:09] footage from the world's biggest Christmas store come late May.

[00:02:13] He sent me an email a while ago that said, hey, I'm going to Bronners in May and I said,

[00:02:17] hey, send some video.

[00:02:19] We'd love to have it for the Christmas party and he said he'd be happy to do so.

[00:02:22] Love that.

[00:02:23] Give us a tour or something.

[00:02:25] That sounds exciting.

[00:02:26] Yeah, it's going to be a long time in my life before I get there.

[00:02:30] I've never been Michigan's not exactly local for either of us.

[00:02:34] And I'd really like to go but I just never find myself in the neighborhood.

[00:02:37] Is it still the biggest?

[00:02:39] Oh yeah.

[00:02:40] I know that we had that one place that somebody sent in video from where it like it's the

[00:02:44] biggest, what did I say the biggest Christmas entertainment?

[00:02:48] That was the biggest indoor Christmas museum or something like that.

[00:02:52] I love that.

[00:02:53] Yeah, I mean, maybe Scotty when we retire, we should come together and build try to do

[00:03:00] a competing Bronners.

[00:03:02] Let's let's go bigger.

[00:03:03] Well with a list of sends you in a decked hallmark electric vehicle company car, maybe

[00:03:08] we could just hop in and go.

[00:03:09] What if we combine?

[00:03:11] We do biggest store plus biggest indoor Christmas museum.

[00:03:14] I'm not trying to take anybody out.

[00:03:17] Please stay in business.

[00:03:18] I just the idea they've been the biggest for so long.

[00:03:21] Well, where was that Ohio?

[00:03:23] I mean, it's right next door is it?

[00:03:24] Oh, man, there's some magical going on up there.

[00:03:27] You should sweeten up the deal for that company car offer.

[00:03:29] We'll also put like a Christmas tree on top for Christmas morning.

[00:03:32] Now we're talking.

[00:03:33] Oh man.

[00:03:34] Now we're talking.

[00:03:35] Caution Low Bridge height.

[00:03:37] Yes, absolutely.

[00:03:38] Scotty, we got one new review from last week, which is very exciting.

[00:03:42] We're up to 243.

[00:03:44] We're at 242 for a little while there.

[00:03:47] Thank you.

[00:03:48] Thank everybody.

[00:03:49] Come down.

[00:03:50] Come down.

[00:03:51] Wow.

[00:03:52] I think just goes on and on.

[00:03:55] It's not a little bit longer than I anticipated the other.

[00:03:58] It was one of your guys.

[00:03:59] Wait, do we get more than one?

[00:04:02] They're going to be a whole episode or just cheering.

[00:04:05] Today's review is from Katie F that says Christmas all year long.

[00:04:10] I thought I was the only adult who thinks about Christmas all year long.

[00:04:14] No, you are not.

[00:04:16] But I am not alone and I have found my people.

[00:04:19] I've only been listening for a couple months, but it's already a favorite.

[00:04:23] Even if I'm having a bad week, I know that I'll get some joy every Wednesday morning.

[00:04:29] I love every second of this podcast.

[00:04:33] Thank you so much, Katie F.

[00:04:34] What a kind of review.

[00:04:36] I remember Scotty when I first started looking up Christmas podcast in my podcast app and

[00:04:42] I was like, there's others.

[00:04:44] There's others.

[00:04:45] It's not just me.

[00:04:46] We are not alone.

[00:04:47] Katie F, please write in.

[00:04:50] Let us know how you found us.

[00:04:51] We'd love to hear from you.

[00:04:52] If you send us emails that are as upbeat and wonderful as this review, we would love

[00:04:56] to hear from your Christmas morning podcast at gmail.com.

[00:05:00] That's right.

[00:05:01] I think a lot of emails from, I would say we have some regulars.

[00:05:05] Some people that send an email to a regular basis.

[00:05:08] But if you've been listening to this podcast for a long time and you've never sent it

[00:05:11] in an email, we'd love to hear from your Christmas morning podcast at gmail.com.

[00:05:15] Even if it's just let us know how you found us.

[00:05:16] It's always cool to see how different people stumble upon the podcast and have that aha moment

[00:05:22] of, hey, there's people like me that also love Christmas at the end of March.

[00:05:27] That's right.

[00:05:28] Give us a shout.

[00:05:29] We'd love to read this.

[00:05:30] It also lets us know how you found us and how we can reach more people, which we just

[00:05:34] want to do.

[00:05:35] We want to spread our love with Christmas.

[00:05:36] The best way to spread Christmas cheer is singing loud for all to hear and sharing Christmas

[00:05:41] morning podcast with all of your friends.

[00:05:43] And don't forget the Christmas joke.

[00:05:45] That's oh, yes, please.

[00:05:46] Do we have a joke today?

[00:05:47] We do.

[00:05:48] Why would you invite a mushroom to a Christmas party?

[00:05:54] I mean, I know why I, I mean, I just spice up that Christmas party.

[00:05:59] But for the sake of the joke, I am going to go with so that there can be more room.

[00:06:08] Not bad, but no, he's a fun guy to be with.

[00:06:12] That is a classic only adding the word Christmas into the joke makes it a Christmas joke.

[00:06:20] But I love it.

[00:06:23] Let's see the cat dad.

[00:06:29] Two hundred and seventy three days until Christmas.

[00:06:36] Under two seventy five, Scotty, that feels good right there.

[00:06:40] Not only that under forty weeks, it's thirty nine weeks.

[00:06:44] That's practically tomorrow.

[00:06:47] Home Depot should start clearing out their seasonal section getting ready for the big

[00:06:50] day.

[00:06:51] They really should.

[00:06:52] I was just there.

[00:06:53] They don't have any Christmas stuff up.

[00:06:54] A hundred branches.

[00:06:55] Scotty, give me even more hope.

[00:06:58] How far are we until October 1st?

[00:07:01] It's only one hundred and eighty eight days until October 1st.

[00:07:05] Wow.

[00:07:06] Yeah!

[00:07:07] Twenty six weeks.

[00:07:09] I used to be a hater of this countdown.

[00:07:11] But now I love it because it makes it tricks, it's a trick.

[00:07:15] It's a trick's my mind.

[00:07:16] You know, we should start counting down to July 5th because once the fourth of July is over.

[00:07:21] We're right into Christmas from there.

[00:07:23] Forget about it.

[00:07:24] Put down your hot dogs and pick up your candy canes, folks.

[00:07:27] Do you have any news for us today?

[00:07:28] I really need some Christmas news.

[00:07:30] Not only do I have some news, I think what is a nice little upbeat story.

[00:07:35] A good one.

[00:07:36] Okay.

[00:07:37] No one's getting their trunk robbed and stuff.

[00:07:39] No grinch today.

[00:07:40] Today is March 27th.

[00:07:47] Here's the news.

[00:07:50] Uh oh.

[00:07:51] Got a little away from them there.

[00:07:54] Um, Scotty, we love when people leave up their Christmas trees all year.

[00:08:00] You're one of them.

[00:08:01] Oh, I am.

[00:08:02] And there's one in my office year round.

[00:08:03] It's only about 18 inches tall but still it counts right?

[00:08:06] It was part of the reason Scotty, while I if you recall why I switched to an artificial

[00:08:12] tree in my living room this year because I wanted to put it up early so I could have

[00:08:17] it longer.

[00:08:18] Uh, well, in Edinburgh over there across the pond, there is a family who every year puts

[00:08:26] a Christmas tree on their front portion and is a real Christmas tree Scotty.

[00:08:30] Wow.

[00:08:31] This is John and Pat's.

[00:08:33] John and Pat Drummond.

[00:08:34] Their sons, they're a little bit older so their sons go and they buy a tree for them

[00:08:38] every year.

[00:08:39] And they put it on the front porch at the beginning of December.

[00:08:42] And then typically, um, on a January 5th, uh, at the end of a piphany there, um, they,

[00:08:50] they take down the Christmas tree.

[00:08:51] Okay.

[00:08:52] And part of that is, you know, keeping with tradition apparently at least over there.

[00:08:56] I don't know if there's a thing here but it's a common superstition that it's unlucky

[00:09:00] to leave Christmas decorations hanging after a piphany.

[00:09:04] It doesn't matter because they went to, they went to look at the tree this year and they

[00:09:08] realized, it's treason pretty good shape.

[00:09:12] So let's just leave it up.

[00:09:13] Let's just leave up the tree and time started to pass.

[00:09:17] Did they want to see how long it would last?

[00:09:19] Is that the idea?

[00:09:20] I think it's just kind of was like, Hey, this is still making me happy.

[00:09:24] Also it's in good shape, you know, trying to be like environmentally conscious.

[00:09:28] Like, Hey, we got this tree.

[00:09:30] Let's keep it around for as long as we can.

[00:09:33] And wouldn't you know it four months later, Scotty or three months later, however long

[00:09:38] it's been the tree is still thriving.

[00:09:41] It is still very much alive.

[00:09:43] It is still on their front porch and they are going to be leaving it up and turning those

[00:09:48] lights on for as long as this tree will allow them to do.

[00:09:52] Pat said that they'd keep the tree up until next Christmas if it's still looking good.

[00:09:56] So I this is just a sweet story of this sweet old couple that gets so much joy out of

[00:10:02] just watching this Christmas tree still survive.

[00:10:06] And I thought it was very sweet.

[00:10:07] So the true Christmas tree is still on display outside the house.

[00:10:11] They're not sure, you know, why it's happening.

[00:10:13] It's still holding its needles and maybe it's the moisture in the air or something that

[00:10:19] is causing it to do well.

[00:10:21] Maybe it's divine intervention.

[00:10:22] Maybe it is.

[00:10:23] But there you go.

[00:10:25] That reminds me of the story about the McDonald's hamburger they put under glass to see how long

[00:10:30] it would sit without going rancid and like lasted hundreds and hundreds of days.

[00:10:34] Wow.

[00:10:35] Same thing.

[00:10:36] Well, not exactly the same thing.

[00:10:37] That's a little bit more scary.

[00:10:39] Yeah, I just want a hamburger.

[00:10:41] Yeah, I do want a hamburger that sounds good actually.

[00:10:44] So yeah, there you go.

[00:10:45] A sweet story of a family that is they've also kind of kept Christmas stuff up in their

[00:10:50] house too because they've been enjoying it.

[00:10:52] So this is how things happen.

[00:10:53] If you live in a porch, you might as well leave it up in the house.

[00:10:58] You know, because that's the first thing your visitors are going to see.

[00:11:01] You've already gotten them ready for you might as well have the inside done.

[00:11:04] The picture on the BBC website is very sweet.

[00:11:07] It's a cute house.

[00:11:08] It is sweet.

[00:11:09] It is Christmas sites in this tree.

[00:11:10] I know.

[00:11:11] So there's a very fun story and I want to know from the people that have maybe had a real

[00:11:17] tree.

[00:11:18] Has this ever happened to you?

[00:11:19] Have you ever gone to take it down and gone?

[00:11:21] Man, this is still like in really good shape.

[00:11:23] Let's just keep it up and like how long have you kept a live tree around in your house?

[00:11:28] Or a hamburger or a hamburger, either one will do.

[00:11:31] Sky, let's say a quick break we'll come back.

[00:11:33] We'll do some TV listings.

[00:11:34] We'll get to last week's battle.

[00:11:36] And then we will talk about a little little little same Nick for the folks at home here

[00:11:41] on Christmas morning.

[00:11:48] But it is Wednesday, it's March 27th and you might be in need of some Christmas TV.

[00:11:55] And that is why I am thrilled to be joined by TV Scotty who will give us that rundown.

[00:11:59] TV Scotty is there much to look forward to this week in regards to the Christmas TV.

[00:12:03] I would say there is the same amount as there usually is.

[00:12:07] Thank you Scotty.

[00:12:09] Which is enough.

[00:12:10] So here are your Christmas TV specials for the next couple of days courtesy of mostly

[00:13:52] for that kind of information so you're asking the wrong guy but those are the Christmas

[00:13:56] TV specials for the next couple of days courtesy of mostly Christmas dot com.

[00:14:00] Let's get to the Christmas music battle.

[00:14:04] No let's skip it this week.

[00:14:07] Last week was oh I'm actually just seeing the results for the first time sorry maybe

[00:14:11] that gave away what the results last week was the instrumental week in last place is

[00:14:19] God arrest you Mary gentleman by Kent arms burger burger we have learned that people

[00:14:28] don't like steel drum Christmas albums that is the takeaway from this week maybe just

[00:14:33] not that song maybe maybe maybe you need a little different song I'm gonna be honest

[00:14:36] they all kind of sound like that I really got schooled this week 17.4% of the vote not

[00:14:42] a good showing but I stand behind my choice in second place is the Christmas saxophone

[00:14:48] medley by Sebastian El Aguela and Dito Cortez I'm surprised this didn't win Scotty to be

[00:14:57] honest with you.

[00:14:59] I think the only reason it didn't win was because of the song that you brought which was

[00:15:05] just so good.

[00:15:06] Slayride by Warren Wolf with 50.7% of the vote I will say this album is pretty great.

[00:15:14] Yeah very marimba Christmas or whatever it's called.

[00:15:16] It's so good.

[00:15:17] It's something like that yeah it was a good find as far as sometimes you find a song

[00:15:24] and you're like oh I want to listen to the rest of the album and it doesn't quite keep

[00:15:28] it the entire time but that that album rules that was a good lesson.

[00:15:32] I didn't listen to the rest of it I think I'm going to tonight I'm in that instrumental

[00:15:36] Christmas phase of the year and just hearing it again kind of I don't know give me a little

[00:15:41] energy it was a great one and you got 50.7% of the vote anytime you capture more than

[00:15:47] 50% of the vote man you're doing something right and you crushed nice choice.

[00:15:52] Oh when I do want to mention that the that Christmas saxophone medley was brought to us

[00:15:57] by listener John Rice so John nice pick thank you John thank you John Scotty you pointed

[00:16:02] out so well last week in the edit room that we have done little Saint Nick before I was

[00:16:08] so in fact what had happened was I did the command F and did little saint and I spelled

[00:16:15] out the world Saint like him like a moron because on the website it's little than ST period

[00:16:23] which I believe is how the beach boys also it is but but the songs this week were listed

[00:16:29] on band camp as saint SAI NT so I don't know both ways count I suppose yeah well then

[00:16:35] so it's good to do it again because there are apparently there's more than we had originally

[00:16:40] thought that there were that's right so we have three more versions of little saint to get to but

[00:16:45] before we do Scotty do you have any trivia for us well the good news is when we played little

[00:16:50] Saint Nick back in 2022 we weren't doing song trivia so I'm not repeating this part of it at least

[00:16:56] if we do the song a third time I don't know what to tell you a little saint Nick was first released

[00:17:01] as a single on December 9th 1963 it reappeared on the Beach Boys Christmas album in 1964 with the

[00:17:09] stereo pressings of the album containing a new mix that removed the overdubbslay bells the

[00:17:15] chalest and the galachan the galachan spiel it's a hard word to say this was done so it would fit

[00:17:20] better with the sound of the albums first side which was recorded in a hurry with basic instrumentation

[00:17:26] I had no idea there were multiple versions brand it's very interesting I need to go and listen to

[00:17:32] both and see if I can pick out the yeah I want to know which one I like more like what's the

[00:17:37] version that is popular I couldn't tell you a good question all right I'll try to do some research

[00:17:42] with my ears this week and I'll get back to you next if I remember brand I will bring like two

[00:17:48] clips next week of the differences okay love that probably forget though uh first we have little

[00:17:54] saint Nick by the vandellas look that looks like the vandells wasn't that a popular motown group

[00:18:01] like Martha and the vandells I don't know I don't know if it's related let's listen

[00:18:24] yeah

[00:18:54] yeah

[00:19:04] not motown but a good version I liked it yeah it's nice it kind of sounds like

[00:19:10] something you'd hear in a bar around it was pretty was that makes sense yeah it had a

[00:19:16] little grid to it but it's not like annoying grit you know sometimes you go into these

[00:19:21] establishments and you're just like it just sounds like noise that had some focus to it which

[00:19:26] I went to mod pizzo over the weekend and they were playing death map my wife was like oh no no

[00:19:32] and I said please don't be a caring about this but the manager was very nice uh up next we have

[00:19:38] little saint Nick by notorious

[00:19:51] famous guy old just a bit red

[00:19:54] and he spends the whole year working out on his spare

[00:19:58] it's the little saint Nick

[00:20:01] it's the little saint Nick

[00:20:05] it's the little saint Nick

[00:20:07] it's the little obstacle we go with all saint Nick

[00:20:11] she's a rock and a rock and we're the most tasty

[00:20:16] she's got me out more and we're in the ski for a beer

[00:20:19] and with some lights like that when just crutch and feel it's the little saint Nick

[00:20:27] it's the little saint Nick

[00:20:32] the one right there

[00:20:36] the one right there

[00:20:39] well that was something wasn't it I like the sounds

[00:20:44] I like the idea of a like a men's chorus kind of thing

[00:20:47] it did sound like it was maybe recorded through like a computer mic like they had the computer

[00:20:53] they set it up yeah and the computer was inside a car and the windows were rolled up at the concert

[00:20:59] but the attempt to solve it

[00:21:01] I think they're a day they got a good sound there for sure

[00:21:04] well if you thought that was something wait for the third one today

[00:21:08] all right here's the little saint Nick by elate dogs

[00:22:08] yeah

[00:22:12] I think the synth was doing a lot of the heavy lifting in that song but I do appreciate the effort put

[00:22:18] in by someone so is it what do you think it's one bark and they throw it into like their midi

[00:22:23] keyboard and they can pitch it that way sounds like completely different dogs to me

[00:22:30] and also says o late dogs plural so there are least two true plural dogs

[00:22:36] you could have gotten one one bark and done some damage with it but I think they went out of their

[00:22:42] way to get a few different barks and I appreciate yeah a lot of effort was put into that

[00:22:46] the weird guitar that's like doing the lead with it and it's like unnecessary play it little

[00:22:54] do it a little bit my working theory here is that mr. o late was playing the guitar

[00:23:03] and the dogs just started barking along and he was like son of a god we're on to it here that's

[00:23:07] a good yeah that's good did they have more I don't know but I do want to mention that we got listener

[00:23:11] submissions this week from Elizabeth Nelson Tony Dixon Brad Adams Lance Garman McLean slaughter

[00:23:17] and Drew basic thank you all for submitting there is a 12 track album the o late dogs Christmas

[00:23:25] so what you're saying is we need a special Christmas morning episode just to showcase this entire

[00:23:30] album well now I'm not I will say I'm not opposed to doing an animal battle like animal from

[00:23:39] them up itself just like do you know there's some sort of there's o late dogs are the only one like

[00:23:43] this has been done before yeah listen I'm gonna be 48 years old I think I've heard two

[00:23:50] animals do Christmas songs cats and dogs that's it I'm not sure if there's anything else maybe

[00:23:56] let's let's let's change it let's put on elephant album well yeah we're gonna go grab the zoom

[00:24:01] recorder head out to the far amount there in Greenville go to the zoo get all the sounds oh

[00:24:08] a very zooful Christmas that's pretty good that's pretty good you can vote right now link is in

[00:24:13] the description Scotty you're up for next week we've had some songs in the backlog for a while

[00:24:21] what are you deciding to go with though I've decided to take one off the backlog it's I believe in

[00:24:26] father Christmas this was suggested by Drew basic and I went to band camp there were a ton of versions

[00:24:32] there I hope they're all the right song is this uh let's say they'll be snow you got it exactly

[00:24:39] right thank you it's the one that starts off with the very heavy synth right i believe they'll be snow

[00:24:45] at Christmas right yeah bomb bomb bomb bomb bomb bomb bomb bomb bomb bomb bomb I'm I'm I'm I'm

[00:24:51] I'm voting for your version right now brand we have a winner I'll record it with my phone

[00:24:58] underneath a ton of pillows yeah at the zoo uh we did everybody congratulations check out

[00:25:05] a bank camp send in versions for next week, go ahead and vote. And get ahead of it.

[00:25:10] Send in some stuff for the Christmas party for next month.

[00:25:14] We'll be having an April 25th. I can never read too early for that.

[00:25:18] And we love it. You know, we love the emails, but we also really love the audio seeing

[00:25:21] us how this is an audio platform. And then anytime we get to hear other people's voices,

[00:25:24] it's always nice.

[00:25:25] You know what Brad Adams did last week? What did Brad do?

[00:25:28] He immediately wrote in and sent in the isotopes version before I could pick it.

[00:25:33] That's why I didn't pick it.

[00:25:34] Wow. But his version did not get chosen. I'll just, I won't say which, but two listeners

[00:25:40] wrote in with the same list of submissions. So, you know, therefore it automatically gets picked.

[00:25:46] So we'll see what happens. There you go. There you go. All right. We did it everybody.

[00:25:51] We're going to be back next week until then Merry Christmas.
