[00:00:40] Christmas to you as well. Merry Christmas, Brandon, happy Christmas morning! How are you? I am doing so good. It is great

[00:00:49] to be back here in a new month. A full spring month, you know? Although I got snow and

[00:00:56] Denver this week and you didn't like that. You did. I didn't know if it was April Fools or not

[00:01:01] because you sent me a picture on April 1st of you getting snow. It did seem like a little

[00:01:07] mother nature April Fools joke. Did anybody get you this year? Fools wise? No my kid tried to but

[00:01:14] you know how it is, you just kind of let them do it, you laugh with them and then it said I did get

[00:01:19] my kid pretty good though. I made devil degs and I put a cool whip with yellow food coloring in it

[00:01:26] and handed it to her and she took one bite and it took like a full second for her face to kind

[00:01:31] of change and realize what was happening. It was pretty great. That's funny. My six-year-old is

[00:01:37] like I think this is the first time that he's really been made aware now that he's in school

[00:01:42] and he so he doesn't quite get it so he comes home and he's like Dad my arms falling off. Happy

[00:01:48] full stay! And so I just say it was a great it was a great afternoon of him just lying.

[00:01:55] Yeah the kids are nothing. Yeah it was so much fun. Let's get into the meat and taters of the show

[00:02:02] show all about Christmas and it wouldn't be Christmas without spending it with other people.

[00:02:36] on how we found this podcast. Oh nice! I'm a listener of Deck the Hallmark and found you last year

[00:02:42] at Christmas a few days into opening the Advent calendar and we have listened ever since. Love all

[00:02:48] that you do. So every Wednesday while taking my four-year-old granddaughter to school, I make her

[00:02:53] listen. She is now asking if it's time for the Christmas morning. We sing the letters jingle but our

[00:03:00] favorite is shouting out how many more days until Christmas. This morning we got in the car and she

[00:03:05] said grandma it's 20 days until Christmas which made me giggle. Thanks and Merry Christmas from Debbie

[00:03:12] Stewart who's grandma and Remy. Remy I'm nominating you for listener of the month. Wow Remy congratulations

[00:04:39] first thoughts was we should do a morning show it was like a morning show with Christmas news but

[00:04:44] there's only so much news that you could do so that has to be other stuff part of it. We don't

[00:04:48] forget the last part of the review yeah yeah you missed part of it and find myself using the TV

[00:04:53] listings weekly wow that's what I'm talking about is it weekly weekly all right well if that is

[00:05:01] you St. Nick I sure do appreciate you writing in although you've been a listener for quite a long time

[00:05:07] what took you so long bud I but I listen there's that's how we get more reviews of the people that

[00:07:04] 250 Scotty oh don't tease me like that I love this I know me too uh how many how what do you want to

[00:07:11] tell me about the October you got that oh oh yeah yeah I'm sorry thank you it's only 181 days

[00:07:17] until October 1st which is 25 weeks so I'm talking about 25 weeks I like how I I used to be

[00:07:26] pushing back against October count and now I'm reminding you Scotty give it to me please

[00:07:31] give me the October countdown 25 weeks is pretty cool because we're starting to stare down the barrel

[00:07:37] of summer and summer's really tough for Christmas lovers and for heat haters like me because it's

[00:07:43] like oh boy you know I got three solid months of Ick and to know that in 25 weeks I'll be able to

[00:07:49] walk into lows and you know just be confronted with this big beautiful thing of Christmas just like

[00:07:57] the video that you sent me last year oh I'll be so happy so I can do it we can do it we can all do

[00:08:02] it I love it we love it we love it hey I got some news if you want it I sure do

[00:08:15] so day is April 3rd and here's the news Scotty I bring a lot of entertainment news

[00:08:23] I bring a lot of news about people well you bring a lot of entertainment period but sure

[00:08:28] well thank you but news related to movies and film and TV and sometimes the occasional

[00:08:35] grin stealing gifts out of the back of a car yeah we had a little little run of those

[00:08:39] we've only dabbled once or twice into the sports department um and I know that's not your

[00:08:46] favorites I don't remember ever doing it I think we did it once and I think today is time to do

[00:08:51] it again because Christmas Day this year falls on a Wednesday and what that meant was for a long time

[00:09:01] Scotty Christmas Day in regards to sports belonged to the NBA belong to basketball and yeah

[00:09:08] it's basketball even I know that I'm not a basketball fan football kind of stayed away

[00:09:12] and NFL said we have Thanksgiving but NBA can have can have Christmas well last year

[00:09:20] was it last year Scotty that Christmas fell on a Sunday yes I believe so or Monday or something

[00:09:25] it fell on a day where they're typically Sunday or Monday one of those two either Christmas Eve

[00:09:29] with Sunday or Christmas Day I'm not sure right it fell on a day where football typically happens like

[00:09:34] a Monday night football or something okay and so the NFL did it they had a game on Christmas and

[00:09:40] everyone's like okay well whatever and then the NFL came out and they said Christmas is on a

[00:09:45] Wednesday we are going to actively avoid having games on Christmas it doesn't make any sense for us

[00:09:51] and then something happens uh they they said the NFL the executive vice president said the fans

[00:09:57] clearly spoke there is a big demand for Christmas Day football and money's more important

[00:10:07] yeah I was gonna say I think money had something to do with it but sure they they said uh

[00:10:11] having pleaded is by Christmas Day Games throughout the week and the only time that

[00:10:17] were it would make sense to do it to a Wednesday seemed like it wouldn't work out but the vice

[00:10:22] president said we found a path to Wednesday I don't really know what that means but apparently there

[00:10:29] is going to be Christmas Day football even though it's on a Wednesday now the vice president said

[00:10:36] we found a path the Wednesday Tuesday might be a bridge too far I don't know man you got football now

[00:10:42] on Thursday you got some Saturday games during the playoffs you got Sunday you got Monday Tuesday though

[00:10:50] out of out of the question but Wednesday we found we found a path in five years it's going to be

[00:10:56] a six day a week thing yeah I this rate it absolutely is why why wouldn't it be it's all it's all about

[00:11:02] the money so anyway I don't know how the NBA is feeling about this they they clearly thought that

[00:11:09] they had a you know unspoken agreement at the very least that Christmas was their day the Thanksgiving

[00:11:16] was the NFL days but we'll see what happens but anyway oh oh I'm getting word that we have

[00:11:20] we have a statement from the NBA yeah what is it let me read it oh come on exactly right live

[00:11:28] look at the NBA boardroom today I you know I don't really care I'm not really going to watch

[00:11:34] I don't really watch football outside of the playoffs to begin with but I as a bask I'm a

[00:11:40] die hard basketball fan and so I love sitting down you know after the presence maybe thrown on a game

[00:11:46] in the background taking a short nap before going to another place to open presence and so you

[00:11:51] know if that makes the football people happy good at them but I just wish they didn't lie about it you

[00:11:56] know I wish they didn't come out and say this is always Wednesday we can't do it you know what

[00:12:00] we figured it out we found out that there's a we could make a lot of money if we do the games so

[00:12:05] we're going to do the game yeah there's a path to Friday as well like any true Christmas fan I

[00:12:10] spend my Christmas day watching the Christmas story there are some you have it on 24 seven this does

[00:12:15] this news does not affect me whatsoever rights but I imagine there are some people out there that

[00:12:20] like the football and so this story is for you you can look forward to watching I don't know if

[00:12:24] they've said the number yet but at least one Christmas day game okay well hopefully it doesn't

[00:12:29] overlap with your basketball and everybody will be happy I'm sure that it will but that's life

[00:16:45] version but not a bad version yep and you might have wondered why we chose that one well it's

[00:16:50] because two listeners wrote in recommending that song so it automatically went to the top of the

[00:16:58] list and that's the sound it made in second place it is little Saint Nick by the fendellas now I

[00:17:07] brought this version and I checked Sunday night I believe and I was still up and so it was

[00:17:14] not to make all week I was up I think by like one or two votes imagine my surprise when I come to

[00:17:19] the office today and I found out that the vendellas lost to the old late dogs by three votes guys come

[00:17:28] on come on this is getting out of hand friend you can't bet against dogs ever ever ever ever you know

[00:17:36] this but the vendellas version is it's just better qualitatively better yes there is no

[00:17:45] doubt about that I think the novelty and the cuteness of dogs barking in this case nothing

[00:17:51] not just barking for no reason barking Christmas carry this one over the finish line I'm not going

[00:17:56] to do it again how many but how many people do you think went to the link and listen to the

[00:18:02] full track that that says the sweet spot is as the is the amount of time you play any longer it's like

[00:19:59] and he plays British Christmas music for me and asked me if I've heard it before and this was probably

[00:20:06] three years ago that I first heard this one and I said I don't really know this song but now listening

[00:20:13] to it I felt like oh yeah I know this song quite well and I don't know what's happened over the last

[00:20:18] three years to make my perception of it different I don't hear this song very often now that I

[00:20:23] think about it yeah it gets played on the radio but not in heavy rotation like those others know

[00:20:29] and it's more obscure radio it's not sure be your music choice on TV or your serious XM you've

[00:20:35] got to listen to like North Pole radio or something to catch this one what was your experience with it

[00:20:40] I know the song and I this week I was like I really like this song yeah I like it a lot

[00:20:48] but at first when I heard it I was like it's it's meh now it must be growing on me or something my

[00:20:54] experience going through the band camp was there's a lot of talented groups that are just doing

[00:21:01] the song but yeah I'm not mad about like it's a good song and a lot of obviously artists from across

[00:21:08] upon that are doing it because it's you know a lot more popular there so but do you have any trivia

[00:21:14] for us Scotty before we dive into the tracks I do so the song was recorded by Greg Lake of Emerson

[00:21:20] Lake and Palmer fame in 1974 and it reached number two on the UK singles chart it was kept from

[00:21:27] number one by Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody and Greg Lake commented I got beaten by one of the greatest

[00:21:34] records ever made I would have been pissed off if I'd been beaten by Cliff Richards wow and I like

[00:21:39] that because I can't stand Cliff Richards music that's funny so there you go all right we got
