[00:00:02] This is a Bramble Jam Podcast

[00:00:11] It's the Christmas Morning Podcast

[00:00:14] Everyone join if you can

[00:00:18] Christmas greatest fans

[00:00:21] Scotty and Bram, here for you and me

[00:00:26] Hello everybody! Happy Friday!

[00:00:30] It's Bram, I am here with Scotty

[00:00:32] Scotty, Merry Christmas!

[00:00:34] Merry Christmas to you, buddy!

[00:00:35] The final episode of the week is here

[00:00:38] and it is a doozy

[00:00:39] We got a jam-packed mailbag

[00:00:41] We got an instrumental song battle

[00:00:43] and a ton of fun stuff in between

[00:00:46] So let's get it started, Scotty

[00:00:47] Let's do it

[00:00:48] Letters, we get letters

[00:00:51] We get stacks and stacks of letters

[00:00:55] I have an email from Lenora Gilbert

[00:00:57] Wonderful friend of the show, Lenora Gilbert

[00:01:00] Yes

[00:01:00] Lenora says, hello Christmas morning people

[00:01:03] I am enjoying listening to the Daily Show so much

[00:01:06] while starting to put up my Christmas trees

[00:01:08] Here's a video that people keep sending me

[00:01:10] I'm thinking I should put lights in my refrigerator as well

[00:01:14] Passing it along just for fun

[00:01:16] Now Bram, I grabbed a screenshot of the video here

[00:01:19] There are indeed Christmas lights

[00:01:21] inside the refrigerator

[00:01:24] And I watched the video to see how it was done

[00:01:26] Is it rigged into the light itself?

[00:01:29] Yes, so what this fridge does

[00:01:31] and I don't know if all fridges support this

[00:01:33] because this is not something I'm going to be doing

[00:01:34] They unscrewed the bulb

[00:01:36] put in one of those things

[00:01:38] that turns a bulb socket into an outlet

[00:01:40] and they've got lights inside

[00:01:42] Now it would be a hilarious joke to play on my wife

[00:01:47] And I have heard about this

[00:01:49] I've seen little bits of this

[00:01:50] I think the crime against humanity here

[00:01:52] is that the hot sauce is in the fridge

[00:01:53] That bothers me

[00:01:54] Really?

[00:01:55] I hot sauce my fridge

[00:01:56] I fridge my hot sauce

[00:01:57] It might last longer

[00:01:59] I did look it up to see

[00:02:00] like do people do this?

[00:02:02] Because I have a couple of those hot sauces

[00:02:04] in the back of the cabinet

[00:02:05] that have gone a really weird gray color

[00:02:08] over time

[00:02:09] But when things are cold

[00:02:10] you don't taste them as well

[00:02:11] So I don't know, hard to say

[00:02:13] But obviously this is a fake fridge

[00:02:15] Nobody's fridge looks like

[00:02:16] And okay

[00:02:18] This one we can agree on though, Bram

[00:02:19] Why is there peanut butter in the fridge?

[00:02:21] Yeah, I don't fridge my peanut butter

[00:02:23] That would be horrible

[00:02:23] Yeah, I don't fridge my peanut butter

[00:02:25] Don't do that

[00:02:25] You can put the hot sauce in

[00:02:26] That's personal preference

[00:02:28] But Jif in the fridge

[00:02:29] Crime against humanity

[00:02:31] Terrible

[00:02:31] It's a war crime

[00:02:32] Is that scotch tape on the top?

[00:02:34] You see that to the left there?

[00:02:36] Is that packing tape?

[00:02:37] Packing tape

[00:02:38] This isn't a real fridge

[00:02:39] No one's doing a bid here

[00:02:40] No, okay

[00:02:41] You know, but

[00:02:41] That's not a thing, right?

[00:02:43] No, no

[00:02:44] Yeah, exactly

[00:02:45] It's fresher that way

[00:02:47] Thank you, Lenar, for sending this in

[00:02:48] We got a good laugh about this

[00:02:50] Appreciate it

[00:02:50] Oh, and I've got one more email

[00:02:52] I want you to scroll down a little bit in the notes here

[00:02:53] I got an email from David Hatfield

[00:02:55] David said

[00:02:56] I saw this and I thought of you guys

[00:02:57] It is a Dominic the Donkey t-shirt

[00:02:59] Oh, wonderful

[00:03:01] It's in the style of like a sports team logo

[00:03:03] Yeah

[00:03:05] I do like this

[00:03:07] Oh, Bran

[00:03:08] I want a hockey jersey

[00:03:09] With a Dominic

[00:03:11] I want the donkey

[00:03:12] And I wanted to say Dominic on the back

[00:03:14] And then the number 25

[00:03:15] How perfect would that be?

[00:03:17] I like that a lot

[00:03:18] That would be so good

[00:03:18] I will say that

[00:03:19] Apparently this image is from a website

[00:03:20] Called Hardcore Italians

[00:03:22] Which I would assume is a website blocked on most servers

[00:03:25] So there you go

[00:03:27] But if you want to venture on to Hardcore Italians

[00:03:30] You can

[00:03:31] Thanks for sending that in, David

[00:03:33] Big laugh there

[00:03:34] Oh, I got

[00:03:34] And then this one came in real late

[00:03:36] Okay

[00:03:37] For the notes

[00:03:38] But just in time

[00:03:39] From Trish Madonia

[00:03:40] Do you remember Trish and her husband

[00:03:42] With the 60-foot tall pole

[00:03:43] Which is hard to say?

[00:03:44] I remember it

[00:03:45] I remember it well

[00:03:46] So Trish says

[00:03:47] So you might remember the 60-foot Christmas tree

[00:03:49] My husband created a couple weeks ago

[00:03:51] Well, he got an amazing idea

[00:03:53] And took the reindeer and sleigh

[00:03:54] We usually display in the front of the house

[00:03:56] And decided to put them in front of the tree

[00:03:58] Remember I said he was an over-the-top kind of guy?

[00:04:01] Displaying the sleigh normally was not good enough

[00:04:03] He wanted to make it look like it was flying

[00:04:05] And he did it

[00:04:06] He devised a pole situation

[00:04:08] This guy's all about the poles

[00:04:10] This guy with his poles

[00:04:11] Yeah

[00:04:11] To raise the reindeer up

[00:04:13] And built a ramp to attach the sleigh behind it

[00:04:15] He even put a red nose on the reindeer

[00:04:18] I've got a photo of this brand

[00:04:20] Okay

[00:04:20] Not only is this awesome

[00:04:22] The photo, again, shows the scale

[00:04:25] Of this entire operation here

[00:04:27] How amazing

[00:04:29] It's amazing

[00:04:30] I love this

[00:04:30] This guy is extra in all the best ways

[00:04:33] I'm going to go out on a limb and say he's retired, right?

[00:04:35] No, and one thing standing out to me

[00:04:38] He put up a giant pole

[00:04:40] Made it into a Christmas tree

[00:04:41] Built a ramp for his sleigh

[00:04:43] No shade

[00:04:44] This is things that I will do when I am retired

[00:04:47] This sounds like my dream day

[00:04:49] Trish, the only thing I'm concerned about here in this photo

[00:04:52] Is he's standing at the very top of the ladder

[00:04:54] I know, I noticed that

[00:04:55] That makes me nervous

[00:04:56] I don't

[00:04:57] I don't

[00:04:57] He's got to get

[00:04:58] I don't care for that

[00:04:58] He's got to get a spotter

[00:04:59] Listen, we need him around

[00:05:00] We need him for future decorations

[00:05:02] So get a spotter or something

[00:05:05] Or anchor the ladder or something

[00:05:07] I don't know

[00:05:08] I love that he has those like giant bulbs underneath the tree

[00:05:12] And you can barely see them

[00:05:14] Because of how big the tree is

[00:05:15] Very cool

[00:05:16] Thank you for sending that in, Trish

[00:05:18] Always a good laugh, a chuckle, and a smile

[00:05:21] Fantastic

[00:05:21] Hey, you got a joke for us, Scotty?

[00:05:23] I do

[00:05:23] This is the last one this week

[00:05:24] From the Kraken Christmas Jokes tin

[00:05:26] From Jill and Xavier

[00:05:28] This one's a little more British-centric

[00:05:30] But I think you'll still get it, Trish

[00:05:32] Let's see if it transfers

[00:05:33] Okay

[00:05:34] What do you use to drain the water from your Brussels sprouts?

[00:05:37] Oh my gosh

[00:05:38] What a setup

[00:05:40] Um, I don't know

[00:05:42] An advent colander

[00:05:44] Waka waka

[00:05:47] Oh, that was great

[00:05:48] That's stupid

[00:05:49] I like it

[00:05:49] I like it

[00:05:51] That was a great one

[00:05:51] That was so good

[00:05:53] So, Jill and Xavier

[00:05:54] Thank you so much for sending in the tin

[00:05:57] I guess we'll move on to the Christmas toilet roll

[00:05:59] Ah

[00:06:00] Soon

[00:06:00] Which is no longer in my bathroom

[00:06:01] I heard that there's very little left

[00:06:03] So hopefully you got a few more jokes on there

[00:06:05] We'll see

[00:06:06] I saved the good ones

[00:06:07] Don't worry

[00:06:07] Good, good

[00:06:07] Um, hey, let's do the countdown

[00:06:09] Let's do it

[00:06:16] 33 days until Christmas

[00:06:21] Whoa

[00:06:23] Scotty

[00:06:24] Again, and I don't want to keep harping on what is to come

[00:06:27] But Monday's huge

[00:06:29] Yeah

[00:06:30] Well, 33 days though

[00:06:31] 11 times 3

[00:06:32] What a great number

[00:06:33] Let me say it like that

[00:06:34] Exactly

[00:06:35] This is exciting

[00:06:37] It's exciting

[00:06:37] So fun

[00:06:38] I just can't believe how quick

[00:06:39] I mean, this is part of the show

[00:06:41] We do it every day because the season goes by so fast

[00:06:44] And, uh, it's, it's kind of wild to see the days trickle down

[00:06:48] When you're really taking each day to enjoy

[00:06:51] And so, 33

[00:06:52] Big weekend

[00:06:53] This weekend for a lot of people

[00:06:55] Some people wait until after, uh, Thanksgiving to put up their tree

[00:06:59] But a lot of people begin to

[00:07:01] This is kind of the weekend where real Christmas trees begin to become available for purchase

[00:07:07] About a month out from Christmas

[00:07:08] And so many people I think will be picking up their Christmas trees this weekend

[00:07:11] And if that's you, uh, let us know, let us know, uh, how that went for you

[00:07:14] Real Christmas fans take their Thanksgiving plate

[00:07:18] Go under the tree and eat it

[00:07:20] And look up at the lights

[00:07:22] That's what real Christmas fans do

[00:07:24] That sounds really hard actually

[00:07:26] Don't eat gravy upside down

[00:07:28] The gravy's going up my nose

[00:07:30] The last thing he saw though was something he loved, you know

[00:07:33] Well, but why do you think they have gravy boats?

[00:07:36] It's so someone can come and pour it in your mouth after each bite

[00:07:39] Hey, bring the boat over!

[00:07:41] Wheel it out!

[00:07:43] Maybe you could get a camelback or something of gravy

[00:07:45] Oh my gosh, now we're talking

[00:07:47] Oh, that thing would be hard to clean later

[00:07:49] That's a one-time use

[00:07:50] It's disposable after that, that's right

[00:07:53] Uh, let's do the news

[00:07:59] Today is...

[00:08:00] Sorry

[00:08:02] Today is November 22nd

[00:08:04] Here's the news

[00:08:06] Are you telling me that Larry's voice was just a voice?

[00:08:09] What the heck?

[00:08:09] This is like Garth Brooks here?

[00:08:10] What is happening?

[00:08:12] No, no, no, no

[00:08:13] He must have had a frog in his throat

[00:08:14] He had a tickle

[00:08:15] He had a tickle

[00:08:15] He was doing an impression of Bran

[00:08:17] That's what it was

[00:08:18] Yes, that's right

[00:08:18] Oh, good job Larry

[00:08:19] Pretty good impression

[00:08:20] It was a pretty good one, yeah

[00:08:22] Um, let's head to North Carolina

[00:08:24] As you remember, Scotty

[00:08:26] Um, the western North Carolina area was affected

[00:08:29] Pretty severely by Hurricane Helene

[00:08:32] Um, a couple of months ago now

[00:08:35] And, um, a lot of people were wondering in these areas

[00:08:39] Will there be Christmas?

[00:08:41] Will there be Christmas parades?

[00:08:43] Um, in some of these areas that were so affected

[00:08:45] Well, we have good news out of Canton, North Carolina

[00:08:47] Despite the ongoing recovery from Helene

[00:08:50] The town of Canton will indeed hold

[00:08:53] Its traditional Christmas parade this year

[00:08:55] Um, Mayor Zeb Smathers

[00:08:58] I mean, had it yet

[00:08:59] No one

[00:09:00] You can't beat Zeb Smathers

[00:09:03] That's made up, right?

[00:09:04] That sounds like a name on The Simpsons or something

[00:09:06] I have no idea

[00:09:08] Zeb Smathers policies

[00:09:10] Nor do I care

[00:09:11] It's Zeb Smathers for Bran

[00:09:13] Zeb Smathers, yeah

[00:09:14] Big, big Smathers head

[00:09:16] Um, Mayor Smathers said that

[00:09:19] Uh, this time

[00:09:20] Uh, there's no exception

[00:09:23] As the parade provides a sense of normalcy

[00:09:27] For not only Canton

[00:09:28] But all of Haywood County

[00:09:30] Uh, quote, we need a moment of hope

[00:09:32] We need moments where smiles are put on children's faces

[00:09:35] Especially, uh, we've been through so much

[00:09:38] But again, some sense of normalcy is important

[00:09:41] Uh, Smathers said that the parade will acknowledge

[00:09:43] All of those who have contributed

[00:09:45] In the aftermath of, uh, Hurricane Helene

[00:09:49] And the recovery there

[00:09:50] So it's good to see

[00:09:51] I'm sure that there are many, uh, towns

[00:09:53] That will unfortunately not be able to have, uh, parades this year

[00:09:56] Due to various reasons

[00:09:57] But it is nice to see that the town of Canton

[00:09:59] Led by one Zeb Smathers

[00:10:02] Will be able to have a parade this year

[00:10:05] And that is lovely

[00:10:06] Let's hear it for Smathers

[00:10:08] Good job

[00:10:09] Hip hip

[00:10:10] Hooray

[00:10:12] I like that they're doing this

[00:10:15] The sense of normalcy thing

[00:10:16] I get it

[00:10:17] Even if the parade is diminished

[00:10:19] Because of

[00:10:19] Yeah

[00:10:20] The reasons that it has to be

[00:10:22] Because of the devastating hurricane

[00:10:24] Wonderful to put that effort into it

[00:10:26] And especially for the kids

[00:10:27] That's right

[00:10:27] Really great

[00:10:28] I'm glad they did it

[00:10:28] It's real nice

[00:10:29] Uh, so shout out to Zeb

[00:10:31] Great, great job out there, Zeb

[00:10:32] Um, hey, let's do this

[00:10:34] Let's take a quick break

[00:10:34] We'll come back

[00:10:35] We'll get to the TV listings

[00:10:36] And then the instrumental Christmas song battle

[00:10:38] Here on Christmas Morning

[00:10:40] Welcome back everybody

[00:10:45] It's your boy, Brain

[00:10:46] And I'm here with TV Scotty

[00:10:48] TV Scotty, hi there

[00:10:49] Well, hello

[00:10:50] Whoa

[00:10:50] What was that?

[00:10:52] Mmm

[00:10:53] What?

[00:10:54] Come again?

[00:10:55] Mmm

[00:10:55] Oh, wow

[00:10:56] Okay

[00:10:57] Uh, hey, do we

[00:10:58] Uh, do we get any TV listings this weekend?

[00:11:00] Is there anything out there for us to watch?

[00:11:02] We have plenty of TV listings, Bran

[00:13:28] courtesy of

[00:13:29] MostlyChristmas.com

[00:13:31] Thank you TV Scotty

[00:13:32] that was wonderful

[00:13:33] per usual

[00:13:35] You know Brian

[00:13:36] it's hard when we're

[00:13:36] in the dailies

[00:13:38] because we do the

[00:13:38] two day thing

[00:13:39] we do today

[00:13:40] we do tomorrow

[00:13:41] and that's usually like

[00:13:42] you know

[00:13:42] five on one day

[00:13:43] six or seven on the other day

[00:13:44] 60 seconds

[00:13:45] and we're done

[00:13:46] then you get to the weekend

[00:13:47] and the thing goes

[00:13:48] three and a half minutes

[00:13:49] and it feels like forever

[00:13:51] even though that's what

[00:13:51] we normally do

[00:13:52] on weekly episodes

[00:13:53] I know

[00:13:54] I know

[00:13:55] it's crazy

[00:13:55] but someone's got to do it

[00:13:57] and that's why we have TV Scotty

[00:13:58] we love it

[00:13:58] that's right

[00:13:59] the hard work

[00:13:59] let's get to the

[00:14:00] the instrumental song battle

[00:14:03] for the day

[00:14:03] this is always a fun one

[00:14:04] I'm excited to see

[00:14:05] what we have today

[00:14:07] up first we have

[00:14:08] let's go with

[00:14:09] White Christmas

[00:14:10] by Rich Hinman

[00:14:12] ooh that was something

[00:15:14] Brian

[00:15:14] at first I was like

[00:15:15] oh is this in like

[00:15:16] the Hawaiian style

[00:15:17] then I was like

[00:15:18] is that pedal steel

[00:15:19] is that a slide guitar

[00:15:20] I have no idea

[00:15:21] but I liked it

[00:15:22] I liked it a lot

[00:15:23] that's very nice

[00:15:24] yep a pedal steel

[00:15:26] okay

[00:15:26] I googled it

[00:15:28] the research department

[00:15:30] has just gotten back to us

[00:15:31] with the information

[00:15:31] I'm just getting word

[00:15:33] it is a pedal steel

[00:15:34] that Rich Hinman was playing

[00:15:36] up next we have

[00:15:37] Let It Snow

[00:15:38] by Eric Veldkamp

[00:16:42] ooh

[00:16:43] Brian

[00:16:43] I did not expect that

[00:16:44] from the album art

[00:16:45] that we saw

[00:16:46] I know we were talking about it

[00:16:47] off air

[00:16:48] Scotty

[00:16:49] you and I typically

[00:16:50] we gotta parse through it

[00:16:52] and often times

[00:16:53] we click on album art

[00:16:54] that sticks out to us

[00:16:56] and this is

[00:16:57] couldn't be more unassuming

[00:16:58] it is literally just

[00:16:59] like an emoji

[00:17:01] of Rudolph

[00:17:02] and that's it

[00:17:03] it's as bad as it gets

[00:17:04] and the reality is

[00:17:06] we don't have time

[00:17:07] to go through

[00:17:07] every single track

[00:17:08] especially when there are

[00:17:09] like 28 pages of results

[00:17:10] so one of my strategies

[00:17:12] is looking at the album art

[00:17:14] if they've put a lot of effort

[00:17:15] into the album art

[00:17:17] I feel like they have

[00:17:18] probably put a lot

[00:17:19] of effort into the song

[00:17:21] I realize that's judging

[00:17:22] a book by its cover

[00:17:23] but it's kind of the only thing

[00:17:25] I've got

[00:17:25] no that makes sense

[00:17:26] and whoever picked this song

[00:17:28] of us got really lucky

[00:17:29] that we didn't ignore it

[00:17:30] based on the album art

[00:17:31] that's fair

[00:17:32] that's fair

[00:17:33] um

[00:17:33] we did it

[00:17:34] congratulations to us everybody

[00:17:36] what a week

[00:17:37] what a great week

[00:17:38] next week

[00:17:39] we're in the 20s

[00:17:40] we got Thanksgiving

[00:17:40] we're gonna have a food battle

[00:17:42] I know

[00:17:43] we're not like a food song battle

[00:17:45] we're not gonna fight food

[00:17:46] with food

[00:17:47] we're not gonna have a food fight

[00:17:47] I wish we were

[00:17:48] if we were in person

[00:17:49] we'd have a food fight

[00:17:49] it'd be a lot of fun

[00:17:50] yeah but this year

[00:17:51] we'd have to put a max temperature

[00:17:53] on the potatoes

[00:17:54] because of the incident

[00:17:55] from last year

[00:17:55] yeah we'd have to do that

[00:17:57] and then also

[00:17:57] no hot sauce

[00:17:59] because of temperature variations

[00:18:01] unless you keep it in the fridge

[00:18:02] then I think it's okay

[00:18:04] but

[00:18:04] it won't sting

[00:18:05] that's why I do it

[00:18:06] it doesn't sting

[00:18:06] wait to see my meatball howitzer

[00:18:08] this year

[00:18:09] oh my goodness

[00:18:09] it's gonna be nuts

[00:18:10] uh

[00:18:11] I'm very excited about next week

[00:18:13] it's gonna be a lot of fun

[00:18:14] and uh

[00:18:15] please

[00:18:16] let us know

[00:18:17] uh

[00:18:17] what you're looking forward to

[00:18:18] maybe some new traditions

[00:18:19] that you are planning on

[00:18:21] rolling out this year

[00:18:22] whatever it is

[00:18:23] nude traditions

[00:18:24] no

[00:18:25] no

[00:18:25] new

[00:18:25] N-E-W

[00:18:26] yes

[00:18:27] you know what though

[00:18:28] hey whatever floats your boat

[00:18:29] but that's not what we do here

[00:18:31] on the podcast

[00:18:31] that's not this show

[00:18:32] that's exactly right

[00:18:33] I mean listen

[00:18:34] enough

[00:18:35] enough

[00:18:35] enough

[00:18:36] let's wrap it up

[00:18:36] it's the hardcore Italians

[00:18:37] it's the hardcore Italians

[00:18:39] I don't know what to tell you

[00:18:40] uh

[00:18:41] all right we'll be back

[00:18:42] on Monday

[00:18:42] with another full week of Christmas morning

[00:18:44] until then

[00:18:44] Merry Christmas

[00:18:56] you're about to hear some ads

[00:18:57] that help pay for our trip

[00:18:58] back and forth

[00:18:59] to the North Pole

[00:19:00] feel free to listen

[00:19:01] feel free to bail now

[00:19:02] but either way

[00:19:03] thanks for being here

[00:19:05] ho ho ho
