[00:00:02] This is a Bramble Jam Podcast
[00:00:12] It's the Christmas Morning Podcast, everyone join if you can Christmas greatest fans Scott and Bram, here for you and me
[00:00:26] Whoa, whoa, whoa, hello everybody, happy Monday, welcome to another week of daily episodes of Christmas Morning.
[00:00:33] I'm Bram and I am here once again with Scott. Scott, Merry Christmas.
[00:00:37] Merry Christmas, buddy. I am so excited to open up the mailbag. We have two really important emails today. Can I do it?
[00:00:44] It's you. It's Thanksgiving week. I'd expect nothing else. Let's do it.
[00:00:47] All right.
[00:00:48] Letters. We get letters. We get stacks and stacks of letters.
[00:00:54] The first one is from Chris Mutnanski.
[00:00:57] Okay.
[00:00:57] Do you remember Chris emailed us earlier in the year and he said, hey, I got the okay from my wife to decorate early because we have a kid coming. Do you remember this?
[00:01:07] I remember this.
[00:01:09] Okay. Well, this is probably the most important email we've read all year. Merry Christmas and happy holidays to the Christmas Morning Podcast people.
[00:01:15] Earlier in the year, I wrote in saying I get to decorate for Christmas early this year because we're expecting our daughter.
[00:01:21] I'd like to share that on November 9th, Lucille Noel made her long-awaited presence known.
[00:01:27] Oh.
[00:01:28] I also wanted to share a Godwink moment with you.
[00:01:32] Oh, Godwink. Chimes.
[00:01:33] Yeah, but like the good one, not like the crappy movies.
[00:01:35] Right.
[00:01:36] My wife's doctor was not on duty when she went into labor, so the on-call doctor attended. Her name? Dr. Abigail Christmas.
[00:01:44] Get out of here.
[00:01:45] I can't make this up. We told her about our love for Christmas and her middle name of Noel, and she was genuinely excited about what was to come.
[00:01:52] Oh.
[00:01:53] She has followed up with us since Lucy has come into the world. Mom and daughter are doing great. Not so much of a silent night anymore.
[00:02:00] Yeah.
[00:02:00] Merry Christmas to everyone, and have a wonderful Christmas.
[00:02:04] Oh, that's amazing. I love that.
[00:02:06] Chris, congratulations. That is wonderful. What an incredible story, even if it's a coincidence.
[00:02:11] It's going to be a fun story to tell for the rest of your life and probably for all of Lucille's.
[00:02:17] At least you can go the rest of your life knowing that Dr. Abigail Christmas gave birth to your child. That's a pretty big git.
[00:02:26] That sounds like a Hallmark movie to me.
[00:02:28] It does. It does. Dr. Christmas.
[00:02:30] That's right.
[00:02:30] Write that down, Brian. Brian's up here with us again.
[00:02:33] And then one more email from Brianne Cummings.
[00:02:36] Brianne says,
[00:02:36] Hello, Brianne Scott, Shannon, and all of my fellow morning people.
[00:02:39] After quite a few stops at Spirit Halloween, it finally posted on the shop window that it would open on November 12th.
[00:02:46] I think she's talking about Spirit Christmas.
[00:02:48] Spirit Christmas, yes.
[00:02:50] Saturday, November 16th happened to be my birthday, so I told my kids it's what I wanted to do for my birthday.
[00:02:55] I am fortunate to live less than 10 minutes from the Spirit Halloween on Long Island that was converted into a Spirit Christmas.
[00:03:02] Remember, I think there were only 10 of them or something, Brianne?
[00:03:05] I remember, yeah.
[00:03:06] As soon as we walked in, there was a photo opportunity to stand on Santa's boots.
[00:03:10] I couldn't resist.
[00:03:11] And if you scroll down, Brianne, we have a photo of Brianne standing in the boots.
[00:03:15] It's so cool.
[00:03:17] Those boots are something special.
[00:03:19] Huge, yeah.
[00:03:20] Big boots to fill.
[00:03:21] There was a very cute mailbox to send letters to Santa.
[00:03:24] They provide the postcards.
[00:03:26] There were two lights next to the mail slot.
[00:03:28] It lights up either naughty or nice after you drop in the postcard.
[00:03:31] I've never heard of that, Brianne, but it's so cool.
[00:03:33] I wonder if it actually ever lights up red.
[00:03:36] I bet it does.
[00:03:37] You think so?
[00:03:38] Yeah, of course.
[00:03:39] That could really mess up a kid, though.
[00:03:40] It could mess up a kid.
[00:03:41] You're right.
[00:03:42] The sections in the store were outdoor blow-ups, stocking stuffers, gifts, decor, clothing, a setup for pictures with Santa, though he isn't coming for two more weeks, and children's clothing.
[00:03:51] I bought myself an elf dress.
[00:03:53] I was shocked at how vulgar the clothing selection was.
[00:03:58] There were a few that had some popular Christmas movies like Grinch, Christmas Vacation, Charlie Brown and Elf, but there were a lot more that had swear words on them.
[00:04:06] Interesting.
[00:04:06] Alcohol-related content and schmectual innuendos.
[00:04:10] Huh.
[00:04:11] Well, it is spirit Halloween.
[00:04:12] It is, yeah.
[00:04:13] It's like, you know, you go in there and they got the whole section of the Halloween costumes that are like, man, this is a, I don't know what to do with all these stuff.
[00:04:21] So I imagine a similar thing.
[00:04:23] Yeah, you can't take the spirit Halloween out of spirit Christmas.
[00:04:25] That's true.
[00:04:26] My two boys are still fairly young and they didn't understand them, but my eight-year-old did read one out loud that was suggestive and I had to gently guide him in another direction.
[00:04:34] There were also quite a few horror and Halloween crossovers, but I guess that's to be expected since they're mainly a Halloween company.
[00:04:40] Overall, it was a fun experience.
[00:04:42] I wouldn't suggest going out of your way to seek out a spirit Christmas.
[00:04:46] All right, so cancel the road trip, Bran.
[00:04:47] Okay.
[00:04:53] It looks really cool, Bran.
[00:04:54] That's a nice Santa photo op area.
[00:04:58] That throne is huge.
[00:04:59] Yeah, it looks really good.
[00:05:01] So yeah, this is cool.
[00:05:02] It's good to see some pictures from inside the shop after, you know, begging people to go and take pictures for us.
[00:05:08] So it's good to see.
[00:05:08] I would love to check it out, but I like what she said.
[00:05:12] Like, don't get in the car and drive 90 minutes to get there.
[00:05:15] Or across the country in your case.
[00:05:17] Yeah, I think you and I would drive 90 minutes for that.
[00:05:19] Because look how cool it looks.
[00:05:20] And those Santa boots.
[00:05:22] I've also, I've never been in a spirit Halloween, so I don't have any idea how it compares in, you know, size.
[00:05:29] I mean, I know it's the same size, but like, do they have as much stuff as they do during spirit Halloween?
[00:05:33] I have no idea.
[00:05:34] It looks really cool.
[00:05:35] So thank you, Brienne, for doing that.
[00:05:36] She's fulfilled one of our wishes for this year.
[00:05:39] Thank you so much.
[00:05:40] You got a joke for us?
[00:05:41] I do.
[00:05:42] How do you make a slow reindeer fast?
[00:05:45] Um, you give it some treats.
[00:05:48] No.
[00:05:49] To make a slow reindeer fast, you don't feed it.
[00:05:52] Waka waka.
[00:05:52] Oh, fast.
[00:05:54] Oh, bada bing.
[00:05:58] I like, listen, I like a joke that makes you think, you know?
[00:06:02] Yeah, when you have to stop and go, huh?
[00:06:04] I like those jokes.
[00:06:06] Yeah, we're getting to the end of the tin.
[00:06:07] So we'll see what happens after that.
[00:06:10] Okay, fair enough.
[00:06:11] Back to the toilet paper.
[00:06:12] I got a countdown.
[00:06:19] 30 days until Christmas.
[00:06:23] Whoa.
[00:06:24] Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa.
[00:06:26] Wah, wah, wah.
[00:06:27] Oh, sorry.
[00:06:30] Yes.
[00:06:30] Don't worry.
[00:06:31] It's a little slow on the draw there.
[00:06:33] That's a big one.
[00:06:33] That's one month.
[00:06:34] One month.
[00:06:35] It's the 25th.
[00:06:36] That's crazy.
[00:06:36] It's Thanksgiving week.
[00:06:38] 30 days until Christmas.
[00:06:40] This is a fun week.
[00:06:41] Knowing that I got the parade coming, I'm looking forward to that.
[00:06:44] Knowing that the Christmas commercials are going to be in the fullest force that they can be this week,
[00:06:50] that really makes me happy.
[00:06:52] I love going back to the DVR later in the year and you find one from around this time,
[00:06:56] you're like, oh, look at that.
[00:06:57] Look at that.
[00:06:58] Look at that right there.
[00:06:59] Yeah, that's real nice.
[00:07:00] I'm excited for the week.
[00:07:01] I think this is a, you know, I do feel like it's late.
[00:07:06] You know, we talked about it.
[00:07:07] It's so tough.
[00:07:08] It does feel late.
[00:07:10] All last week, I was like, man, can't wait for Thursday.
[00:07:12] And then I was like, oh yeah, it's not.
[00:07:14] It's not this Thursday.
[00:07:15] It's next Thursday.
[00:07:16] But it's as late as it can possibly be.
[00:07:19] It's true.
[00:07:19] We'll talk about that a little bit later this week about that.
[00:07:21] Oh, cool.
[00:07:22] But yeah, I'm excited.
[00:07:24] I'm excited for Thanksgiving.
[00:07:26] I've got some news if you want.
[00:07:28] Yeah, please.
[00:07:34] Today is November 25th.
[00:07:37] Here's the news.
[00:07:38] Hi, Larry.
[00:07:39] Hey, Scotty.
[00:07:41] How you doing, bud?
[00:07:43] Yeah, we're good.
[00:07:43] All right, cool.
[00:07:44] Good to see you, man.
[00:07:45] You want me to leave?
[00:07:46] Well, yeah.
[00:07:47] I mean, you made it awkward.
[00:07:48] So cool.
[00:07:49] You made it awkward.
[00:07:51] All right.
[00:07:51] We're both awkward.
[00:07:52] Thank you, Larry.
[00:07:54] Thank you.
[00:07:56] Jeez.
[00:07:57] Love that guy.
[00:07:58] Yeah.
[00:07:59] You know the song, Do They Know It's Christmas?
[00:08:01] I do know that song.
[00:08:03] Band-Aid.
[00:08:04] Yeah, weird name.
[00:08:07] It's a bunch of people.
[00:08:08] Band and it's for aid.
[00:08:10] Yeah, and they're doing aid.
[00:08:11] But I always think of dirty, bloody Band-Aids.
[00:08:14] Yes, it's an unfortunate connection to the thing that covers boo-boos.
[00:08:19] Yeah, sure.
[00:08:19] It's the 40th anniversary for the song, which is crazy.
[00:08:24] It was originally recorded back in 1984.
[00:08:26] And to celebrate, they are putting out an updated version.
[00:08:31] Of course, you will hear many of the original voices.
[00:08:35] They have also added some voices.
[00:08:37] And they have also added an updated Bono.
[00:08:41] Young Bono will sing with old Bono.
[00:08:44] And I don't really know who that's for, aside from myself.
[00:08:47] I think that that is real weird, and I love it.
[00:08:51] Also, updated voices.
[00:08:53] I got some new singers here.
[00:08:55] We got Harry Styles from Harry Styles.
[00:09:00] Chris Martin of Coldplay.
[00:09:01] The Sugar Babes.
[00:09:03] I don't know what that is.
[00:09:05] And Ed Sheeran.
[00:09:06] You know, I've been listening to the Spotify Christmas Hits playlist.
[00:09:10] Yes.
[00:09:10] At first, I thought, wow, this is a great mix.
[00:09:13] Yes.
[00:09:13] Then you realize there isn't a whole lot of variety.
[00:09:16] You can really tell when the list starts over.
[00:09:19] But one of the songs they keep playing over and over is that Elton John, Ed Sheeran song.
[00:09:24] And I really, really like it.
[00:09:26] There are very few original Christmas songs that are modern that I like.
[00:09:30] That is definitely one of them.
[00:09:32] Yeah, for sure.
[00:09:33] There are also some other features in the 40th Anniversary Mix, including Sam Smith, Elbows, Guy Garvey.
[00:09:42] I don't know.
[00:09:43] Rita Ora, Banana Rama.
[00:09:46] Oh.
[00:09:46] Seal.
[00:09:47] Seal's in there.
[00:09:48] They're really digging deep here.
[00:09:51] Sinead O'Connor?
[00:09:52] Sinead O'Connor.
[00:09:54] Robbie Williams.
[00:09:55] Cooling the gang.
[00:09:56] Oh, my gosh.
[00:09:57] Do they have to put a ramp in for this thing?
[00:09:59] These people are old.
[00:10:01] I know.
[00:10:01] They got all sorts of different singers in there.
[00:10:04] A good mix.
[00:10:05] They're playing the Do They Know It's Christmas song, right?
[00:10:07] It's not like a new version, like Do They Know It's Christmas Again or something.
[00:10:10] No.
[00:10:11] Apparently, they do this every 10 years.
[00:10:14] They have some newer and older artists come in and add some different stuff to the song.
[00:10:19] And so this is the 40th Anniversary.
[00:10:22] And, of course, all of the proceeds will go to the aid that the band has.
[00:10:27] The Band-Aid Trust.
[00:10:28] I'm glad they do it.
[00:10:30] I don't know that I need one every 10 years, but sure.
[00:10:33] Why not?
[00:10:34] That's right.
[00:10:35] Let's do this.
[00:10:35] Let's take a break.
[00:10:36] We'll come back.
[00:10:36] We'll get to the TV listings, which are really picking up now.
[00:10:40] And, of course, the battle for the day, which is going to be a fun one.
[00:10:44] It's going to be a fun one.
[00:10:45] We've got Scotty's favorite song, All I Want for Christmas Is You.
[00:10:48] We're battling it.
[00:10:49] You're on Christmas Morning.
[00:10:55] Welcome back, everybody.
[00:10:57] It is Monday.
[00:10:58] It's Thanksgiving week.
[00:10:59] And the TVs are beginning to shine with Christmas spirit because of all the different shows that are being played.
[00:11:07] The Christmas episodes, the Christmas movies, they're in full force.
[00:11:09] So, TV Scotty, let us know what we can expect over the next couple days.
[00:11:13] Here are your Christmas TV specials for the next two days, courtesy of MostlyChristmas.com.

[00:12:02] Thank you, TV Scotty.
[00:12:03] That was wonderful.
[00:12:04] It's great to hear your voice.
[00:12:05] It always is, isn't it?
[00:12:07] It is.
[00:12:08] Is this Scott?
[00:12:09] Regular Scott?
[00:12:09] No, this is still TV Scotty.
[00:12:11] Oh, hey, buddy.
[00:12:12] All right.
[00:12:12] I'll see myself out with Larry.
[00:12:14] Thank you.
[00:12:14] All right.
[00:12:15] Have a good one.
[00:12:16] Scott, do you hear that guy?
[00:12:17] Ah, that guy's annoying.
[00:12:18] Crazy.
[00:12:19] This is like Bono singing with Bono.
[00:12:22] We did it first, Bono.
[00:12:24] Yeah.
[00:12:24] It's time for the Christmas music battle.
[00:12:26] It's been a good season so far, and I'm excited to see who ultimately pulls it out.
[00:12:32] Once again, if you haven't voted, if you missed some episodes, which is bound to happen
[00:12:36] at some point, you can still vote until the end of the calendar year.
[00:12:39] Let's get to today's battles.
[00:12:41] All I want for Christmas is you.
[00:12:43] Scotty, we've battled this one before, and I think we've come to the conclusion that we
[00:12:48] don't hate the song.
[00:12:51] That's true.
[00:12:52] There are some versions of this song that we like.
[00:12:54] Yeah, I'm just tired of the Mariah Carey version, and I was in the car this weekend
[00:12:59] thinking about it.
[00:13:00] I just don't enjoy Mariah Carey's singing.
[00:13:04] She does those vocal gymnastics, and it feels like she's doing it to be showy.
[00:13:08] That's so weird because you sent me pictures of you at the Mariah Carey pop-up that you
[00:13:12] drove across the country for.
[00:13:14] Yeah, yeah, exactly.
[00:13:15] I even bought a shirt.
[00:13:17] That didn't happen.
[00:13:18] I didn't do that.
[00:13:20] Brand's fibbing.
[00:13:21] I'm a fibber.
[00:13:23] Let's get to the battle today.
[00:13:24] We got two versions.
[00:13:25] Let's find out if any of them are good.
[00:13:27] Up first is All I Want for Christmas is you by Out of the Blue.
[00:13:32] I don't want a lot for Christmas.
[00:13:38] There is just one thing I need.
[00:13:41] I don't care about the presents underneath the Christmas tree.
[00:13:47] I don't need to hang my stocking there upon the fireplace.
[00:13:54] I don't want a lot for Christmas.
[00:14:01] I don't want a lot for Christmas.
[00:14:01] I just want you for my own.
[00:14:04] More than you could make my wish come true.
[00:14:10] All I want for Christmas is you much this Christmas.
[00:14:22] Brian, we've done this band before, but this is the weird thing.
[00:14:27] On Bandcamp, they're listed as Oxford Out of the Blue, but for this song, it's Out of the Blue.
[00:14:32] Still acapella.
[00:14:34] Still same folks.
[00:14:35] Maybe they're no longer wearing Oxfords.
[00:14:37] Well, I think maybe the Oxfords are a newer edition because this was released back in 2014.
[00:14:42] So it's perhaps since then they've added the Oxford to the Out of the Blue.
[00:14:47] I don't know.
[00:14:48] This is OG Out of the Blue.
[00:14:49] Okay.
[00:14:50] If Oxford Out of the Blue or Out of the Blue would like to let us know what's going on there,
[00:14:55] you can send us an email.
[00:14:56] ChristmasWarningPodcast.gmail.com.
[00:14:57] Wouldn't it be really cool if they came on one of our party episodes and did an acapella intro for all of our sections?
[00:15:02] I mean, it would put me out of the job, but I'd allow it.
[00:15:05] I'd allow it.
[00:15:06] Just once.
[00:15:07] That's all we're looking for.
[00:15:08] You know, give you a break.
[00:15:09] I mean, I put a lot of thought and energy into it, but I would concede that Oxford Out of the Blue would maybe enhance it a little bit.
[00:15:16] Why don't we do acapella intro?
[00:15:18] Okay.
[00:15:19] We'll save that for the admin.
[00:15:20] Okay.
[00:15:21] What's the next song?
[00:15:21] Up next is All I Want for Christmas is You by Black Marble.
[00:16:24] Wow.
[00:16:26] Wow.
[00:16:26] I did not expect that.
[00:16:27] I've never heard a version like that before.
[00:16:29] It almost sounded like the Blue Man group was behind them with the do-go-do-go-do-go-do.
[00:16:36] It's almost like it was Lance Garman Presents All I Want for Christmas is You by Black Marble featuring Lance.
[00:16:42] Is Lance Black Marble?
[00:16:44] He is.
[00:16:44] It's fantastic.
[00:16:46] No, I like that.
[00:16:46] That was exactly what I'm always looking for in these versions of something that is way off the beaten path, and that was.
[00:16:52] That's right.
[00:16:53] Making it their own for sure.
[00:16:55] But we know the acapella version will win because of the Scott and Brand rule.
[00:16:59] All acapella versions always win.
[00:17:02] Our hands are tied.
[00:17:03] The people have spoken.
[00:17:04] But you can vote.
[00:17:05] We need the votes to finalize that theory.
[00:17:08] So if you want to vote, you can vote right now.
[00:17:10] Link is in the description.
[00:17:11] And of course, you can vote until the end of the calendar year.
[00:17:14] Scotty, tomorrow is Tuesday.
[00:17:16] It's original Christmas music week day.
[00:17:18] Day of the week is another way to say it.
[00:17:20] Sure, sure.
[00:17:21] So I'm looking forward to that.
[00:17:22] I know you're not, but I am.
[00:17:23] No, I'm looking forward to it this week.
[00:17:25] We'll see.
[00:17:25] You'll see what I brought.
[00:17:26] And of course, Thursday is Thanksgiving.
[00:17:29] And so we have another special food-themed song battle, which is always something we added last year that I thought was a lot of fun.
[00:17:38] So we brought it back.
[00:17:39] Yeah, we're going to run out of choices real soon, but that's okay.
[00:17:42] Yes, we will.
[00:17:43] Yes, we will.
[00:17:43] We did it, everybody.
[00:17:44] Congratulations to us.
[00:17:46] We are going to be back tomorrow and we'll be in the 20s.
[00:17:50] Spoiler alert for those that didn't do the quick math there.
[00:17:53] Until then, Merry Christmas.
[00:18:05] You're about to hear some ads that help pay for our trip back and forth to the North Pole.
[00:18:09] Feel free to listen.
[00:18:10] Feel free to bail now.
[00:18:11] But either way, thanks for being here.
[00:18:14] Ho, ho, ho.
