[00:00:02] This is a Bramble Jam Podcast

[00:00:11] It's the Christmas Morning Podcast, everyone join if you can Christmas greatest fans Scottie and Bram, here for you and me

[00:00:26] Well hello Christmas morning people, it's Bram, it is Scott and it is the day before Thanksgiving

[00:00:34] I don't know about you Scottie but I am feeling real good this morning

[00:00:38] Yeah if you haven't taken out the turkey yet, you better take that frozen turkey, stick it in the Instant Pot overnight

[00:00:45] Ew, can you imagine how gross that would be?

[00:00:47] I don't know, with turkey anything's on the table, let's just try it and see if it's

[00:00:53] That's true, just drown the whole thing in gravy, everything will be fine, who cares

[00:00:55] Even if it's frozen, we're just here for the turkey, it's a gravy vessel

[00:01:00] Turkey is not the star of the show, what is your favorite Christmas, not Christmas, Thanksgiving side dish?

[00:01:06] I mean I know I'm white and boring, I like mashed potatoes and gravy

[00:01:11] Okay now one year when I had a lot of people over, I did three different mashed potatoes

[00:01:15] Wow

[00:01:16] I did the regular, I did a sour cream and onion mashed potato

[00:01:20] You don't like the Pringles that are sour cream and onion?

[00:01:23] It's one of my least favorite chefs in the entire world

[00:01:25] Oh that's funny, and then the third was a cheddar bacon

[00:01:28] Okay, that I can get on board with

[00:01:30] Alright, so mental note, don't invite Brian over

[00:01:32] Okay, got it, okay

[00:01:34] You can invite me over, just put me in the room where there's no sour cream and onions

[00:01:38] My favorite Thanksgiving side dish is hash brown casserole

[00:01:42] Oh

[00:01:42] It's like a Paula Deen kind of recipe, you know like frozen hash browns, batter, not batter, butter

[00:01:47] I'm not about that life, I'm not about that life, I mean I don't like a casserole by and large

[00:01:51] You live in the south

[00:01:52] I know, it's tough

[00:01:54] Wow, man

[00:01:55] I grew up going to church where I had to actively

[00:01:59] You can't go to a church potluck without an casserole

[00:02:02] I know

[00:02:02] Actually, do you call it a hot dish though, or is that more of a Midwestern thing?

[00:02:06] Scotty, I don't think you know how hard it is being me

[00:02:09] The plight is heavy

[00:02:12] I'm starting to sense how hard it is

[00:02:14] If anybody else would like sour cream and onion mashed potatoes, you let me know

[00:02:17] Oh, you know what, it was sour cream and chive, to be fair, but still, same idea

[00:02:22] Oh my gosh, let's get in the mailbag, I'm getting irked

[00:02:25] I love you

[00:02:26] Yeah, I love you too

[00:02:27] Letters, we get letters

[00:02:29] We get stacks and stacks of letters

[00:02:34] I've got an email from Kim Gazerak

[00:02:35] Kim says, hey Scott and Bran

[00:02:37] Hi Kim

[00:02:37] I wanted to write in and say it's never too late to start traditions with the ones you love

[00:02:41] My mom and I started our own tradition just a few years ago, and I'm well past by teenage years

[00:02:47] Every year now, around early or mid-November, we spend the majority of the day together

[00:02:52] First going to a local plant nursery that transforms into Christmas land

[00:02:56] Full of lights and the most beautifully decorated trees

[00:02:58] That sounds really cool

[00:02:59] They also have a cafe that serves the best baked goods full of seasonal flavors

[00:03:03] We then head to local thrift stores and browse the Christmas goodies

[00:03:07] My hometown even has a Christmas-themed thrift store that opens for a month and a half

[00:03:11] Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa

[00:03:12] Bury the lead, Kim

[00:03:14] I know

[00:03:14] With proceeds going to the community to help ensure everyone has a chance to have a happy holiday

[00:03:18] I love that

[00:03:19] That's fantastic

[00:03:21] I've also decided to start my own tradition inspired by you, Scotty, and your Jolly Green MP3 player

[00:03:27] Oh

[00:03:27] I think I shared a picture once

[00:03:29] I've sent it to you before too

[00:03:31] Like if I'm listening to something, I just take a picture

[00:03:33] It's that green Walkman MP3 player that I have

[00:03:35] That's right, and I have a red iPod

[00:03:37] Last year while at the aforementioned Christmas thrift store

[00:03:40] I held a vinyl copy of Dolly Parton's Christmas album in my hands

[00:03:43] But I ended up putting it back

[00:03:44] I figured it would just be something that sat in a box

[00:03:47] And it deserved to be enjoyed

[00:03:48] I have been regretting that decision ever since

[00:03:51] So this year I've decided I'm going to break out my record player

[00:03:53] And listen to albums while I decorate

[00:03:55] It's something I've always wanted to do

[00:03:57] So why should I wait any longer?

[00:03:59] I've included pictures of the vinyl I found this year at the thrift store

[00:04:03] Can you believe I spent three whole dollars on them?

[00:04:06] I appreciate you guys and the hard work you put in

[00:04:08] Helping to spread the Christmas cheer

[00:04:09] So the picture she sent

[00:04:11] There's two vinyl albums here, Brian

[00:04:12] One is Christmas with the Canadian Brass

[00:04:15] The Great Organ of St. Patrick's Cathedral

[00:04:17] Now I'm not familiar with this album

[00:04:19] But I do have all the other Canadian Brass albums

[00:04:21] We love the Canadian Brass

[00:04:23] Yeah, they have an album called Noel

[00:04:25] That I got at a fifth grade book fair

[00:04:28] How about that?

[00:04:29] That I just love that album so much

[00:04:30] And the other is Season's Greetings

[00:04:32] The Fantastic Strings of Felix Slatkin

[00:04:37] I was not familiar with this brand

[00:04:39] Now I say that and I'm sure Alonzo's out there going

[00:04:42] This guy doesn't know Felix Slatkin

[00:04:44] No, it's not

[00:04:46] Alonzo's not going to give us grease or grief about music

[00:04:50] He'll let us

[00:04:51] Alonzo gives me a lot of grief in a very loving way

[00:04:53] Because Alonzo's wonderful

[00:04:54] So I didn't know what this album was

[00:04:56] But it was not on Apple Music

[00:04:58] So I pulled it up on Spotify while I did all of the notes last night

[00:05:02] Great album

[00:05:03] So Kim, I think you're going to have a great time

[00:05:05] I got to be

[00:05:05] Both of these covers too are so good

[00:05:09] Yeah, good in like that old nostalgic way

[00:05:12] It's like I love the Canadian Brass

[00:05:15] The pictures that they have of them in the Santa suits and snow

[00:05:18] And the blue is beautiful

[00:05:20] And then I love the Season's Greetings

[00:05:22] I love the typography on that

[00:05:24] It's like the gold and white on the red background

[00:05:27] It's real good

[00:05:28] That old retro 60s looking

[00:05:30] I Dream of Jeannie kind of fun

[00:05:32] Yeah, it's so cool

[00:05:33] One more email

[00:05:34] This is from Simon in South Africa

[00:05:35] Simon says, how's it guys?

[00:05:37] How's it?

[00:05:37] I was listening to November 13th's episode

[00:05:39] And I heard Scott geeking out about

[00:05:41] One of the Hallmark Christmas movie actors

[00:05:43] I don't know all their names

[00:05:44] Because we don't get Hallmark movies here a lot

[00:05:46] It was probably the Queen of Christmas

[00:05:49] Lacey Chabert

[00:05:50] And that's all we're going to say about it

[00:05:51] Did I?

[00:05:51] Okay

[00:05:53] Simon goes on to say

[00:05:54] It made me think about my favorite Hallmark Christmas movie

[00:05:57] Called Window Wonderland

[00:05:59] Yeah, classic

[00:06:00] A Hallmark movie from way back in 2013

[00:06:02] I always think about it when the holidays roll around

[00:06:05] It is one of my all-time favorite sleeper Christmas movies

[00:06:08] Maybe I should dust it off and watch it this weekend

[00:06:10] With a bucket of popcorn and some Christmas sweets

[00:06:13] Have a lecker day

[00:06:15] Simon from sunny South Africa

[00:06:17] A lecker day?

[00:06:18] Yeah, I don't know what lecker is

[00:06:19] But I'm assuming it means

[00:06:21] Good

[00:06:22] Simon's out here just throwing out things

[00:06:24] Simon's so cool

[00:06:25] I want to be cool like Simon one day

[00:06:26] I don't know that movie, Brian

[00:06:28] What is it?

[00:06:28] Window Wonderland?

[00:06:29] Yeah

[00:06:30] It's a good one

[00:06:31] It's a classic

[00:06:32] I mean, I think you can figure out what it's about

[00:06:34] Probably a Christmas window

[00:06:35] It might have something to do with that

[00:06:37] Yeah, it's really good

[00:06:37] Really good

[00:06:38] Cool

[00:06:38] Well, thank you for writing in, Simon

[00:06:40] Appreciate that

[00:06:40] You got a joke for us, Scotty?

[00:06:42] I do

[00:06:42] What Christmas present did the rabbit give to his girlfriend?

[00:06:47] I don't know

[00:06:48] A 24-carat ring

[00:06:50] Hey!

[00:06:51] Waka waka!

[00:06:52] There we go!

[00:06:53] Carat with a C, not a K

[00:06:54] Did you get that on the toilet paper?

[00:06:56] No, I got that in the Christmas tin of circular joke cards

[00:07:00] Man, it's still going, huh?

[00:07:01] I think it's great

[00:07:02] What a fantastic gift from Jill and Xavier

[00:07:05] It's a good joke, I like that one

[00:07:06] Let's do the countdown

[00:07:13] 28 days in!

[00:07:19] 28 days, Scotty

[00:07:21] Fantastic, isn't it?

[00:07:22] You can feel it in my bones

[00:07:24] Seven times four

[00:07:25] What'd you say?

[00:07:25] You doing math again?

[00:07:26] It's seven times four

[00:07:27] Yeah, I mean, say no more

[00:07:29] It's huge

[00:07:29] It's good stuff

[00:07:30] It's huge

[00:07:30] It's good stuff

[00:07:31] I'm looking forward to it

[00:07:32] And this is it

[00:07:34] This is that little corridor

[00:07:35] The most dense holiday corridor of the year

[00:07:39] Because you go from Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas

[00:07:41] And I like all three of those

[00:07:43] This is the nucleus of it here

[00:07:46] So I'm so excited for the parade, for Thanksgiving

[00:07:49] And then for the real official mega start to the season

[00:07:54] Yes, it sure is

[00:07:56] Let's do the news, Scotty

[00:07:58] All right

[00:07:58] Today is Wednesday, November 27th

[00:08:05] Here's the news

[00:08:07] Yay, Larry!

[00:08:09] Oh, thank you, thank you

[00:08:12] Scotty, I thought about saving this news story for tomorrow

[00:08:15] Who was that?

[00:08:16] I don't know

[00:08:16] Fans

[00:08:18] I love

[00:08:19] Yeah, we got the fans up here

[00:08:21] We don't need fans, though

[00:08:23] It's cold

[00:08:24] It's cold, yeah

[00:08:24] I thought about doing this news story tomorrow

[00:08:27] Because it's about the parade

[00:08:28] But then I figured

[00:08:29] Some people might not listen to it until after

[00:08:32] Oh, it'll be too late

[00:08:33] So

[00:08:34] I wanted to give people the rundown of what they can expect

[00:08:37] As they watch the parade tomorrow

[00:08:39] Some artists that I know

[00:08:42] Some artists that I don't know

[00:08:43] So par for the course

[00:08:44] I do feel like as every year comes

[00:08:47] I know less and less of the people that are singing

[00:08:50] Yeah, exactly

[00:08:52] Older and older we get

[00:08:53] Who are these whippersnappers in the beginning of the parade?

[00:08:57] That's right

[00:08:57] I do know Jennifer Hudson, though

[00:09:00] I know Jennifer Hudson

[00:09:01] And she's going to be singing

[00:09:02] My guess is that she's kind of like the big name before Santa

[00:09:05] She's got a Christmas album out this year

[00:09:08] And all that stuff

[00:09:08] So I think that's the big one at the end of the parade

[00:09:10] But I don't know

[00:09:12] I might be making it up

[00:09:15] Kylie Minogue

[00:09:16] Oh, yeah

[00:09:16] There's not exactly a new artist there

[00:09:18] Billy Porter

[00:09:19] Don't know the Billy Porter

[00:09:21] T-Pain

[00:09:23] I've heard the name

[00:09:24] We know T-Pain

[00:09:25] Dan and Shay

[00:09:26] Nope

[00:09:27] Oh, yes

[00:09:28] They keep showing up on Music Choice

[00:09:30] The Xfinity music station

[00:09:32] Here's a rundown of some more

[00:09:34] The War and Treaty

[00:09:35] Nope

[00:09:35] Leah Salonga

[00:09:37] Nope

[00:09:37] Kylie Cantrell

[00:09:39] Nope

[00:09:40] The Temptations

[00:09:41] Oh, no them

[00:09:42] Yep

[00:09:42] Chloe

[00:09:43] Nope

[00:09:43] One name

[00:09:44] Uh, Charlie D'Amelio

[00:09:48] Nope

[00:09:48] Jimmy Fallon and the Roots

[00:09:50] No them

[00:09:50] Nope

[00:09:51] Coco Jones

[00:09:52] Uh, nope

[00:09:53] Walker Hayes

[00:09:54] Walker Texas Ranger, yeah

[00:09:56] Rachel Platten

[00:09:57] Is that the fight song?

[00:09:58] Uh, uh, singer?

[00:09:59] I thought that was Katy Perry

[00:10:01] No

[00:10:01] It's not?

[00:10:02] No

[00:10:03] It shows how much I know

[00:10:04] Nothing

[00:10:04] That's how much

[00:10:05] Uh, Bishop Briggs

[00:10:07] Joey McIntyre

[00:10:09] Natty

[00:10:09] Oh, yeah

[00:10:10] He was

[00:10:10] Joey McIntyre

[00:10:11] Is one of the

[00:10:11] One of the

[00:10:12] New Kids on the Block

[00:10:13] Oh, maybe

[00:10:13] I don't know

[00:10:14] Uh, Natty

[00:10:15] Sorry, Ryan

[00:10:15] Natty, Natasha

[00:10:17] And ballet dancers

[00:10:20] Tyler Peck

[00:10:20] And Roman

[00:10:22] Uh, Mahai

[00:10:23] I'm gonna go with that

[00:10:24] Uh, there's also a bunch of

[00:10:26] Uh, of course

[00:10:27] The balloons

[00:10:28] And all that good stuff

[00:10:29] And, um

[00:10:30] Some Broadway

[00:10:32] Singing

[00:10:33] And whatnot

[00:10:34] Uh, the Broadway

[00:10:35] Uh, Death Becomes Her

[00:10:37] Hell's Kitchen

[00:10:37] And The Outsiders

[00:10:39] Uh, and

[00:10:40] Of course

[00:10:41] Radio City Rockettes

[00:10:42] And

[00:10:42] The River Dance

[00:10:43] Dancers

[00:10:44] A little

[00:10:45] Is there gonna be a dance-off

[00:10:46] Between the Rockettes

[00:10:47] And the River Dance?

[00:10:48] Oh, like the Jets

[00:10:49] And the Sharks

[00:10:50] Yeah, I know

[00:10:50] It's crazy

[00:10:51] Um, 17 giant balloons

[00:10:54] 22 floats

[00:10:55] 15 novelty

[00:10:56] Inheritage

[00:10:57] Inflatables

[00:10:57] 11 marching bands

[00:10:58] 700 clowns

[00:11:00] Clowns don't get enough play

[00:11:02] Uh, I will say that

[00:11:04] I'm being serious here, Scott

[00:11:06] Back in the day

[00:11:07] This is what I learned

[00:11:08] From the few episodes

[00:11:09] Of Pot of Parade

[00:11:09] That we did

[00:11:10] Back in the day

[00:11:11] They used to

[00:11:12] Spotlight the clowns

[00:11:13] Way more than they do now

[00:11:15] Like, they barely show a clown

[00:11:17] There's 700 clowns

[00:11:20] Right?

[00:11:21] You should see more clowns

[00:11:22] On TV

[00:11:23] It's too many clowns

[00:11:25] That's a lot of clowns

[00:11:27] Way too many

[00:11:27] And 10 performance groups

[00:11:29] 700 clowns

[00:11:32] Justice for Clowns

[00:11:33] Is all I'm saying

[00:11:33] They should get a little bit

[00:11:34] Of a spotlight

[00:11:36] Uh-oh

[00:11:37] I'm done with clowns

[00:11:38] All I'm saying

[00:11:39] Is if you're gonna bring

[00:11:41] 700 clowns to a parade

[00:11:43] You should show some of them

[00:11:44] That's all I'm saying

[00:11:45] Fine

[00:11:46] Seven

[00:11:46] Max

[00:11:47] That's my number

[00:11:48] That's fine

[00:11:49] That's fine

[00:11:50] I'm not saying

[00:11:50] You have to show 700 clowns

[00:11:52] I'm just saying

[00:11:53] 700 is a massive number

[00:11:55] To not see any of them

[00:11:56] On TV

[00:11:57] That's all I'm saying

[00:11:57] Okay, moving right along

[00:11:59] I'm gonna record this parade

[00:12:00] I'm gonna save it

[00:12:01] As a digital file

[00:12:01] If anybody

[00:12:02] Would like a copy of it

[00:12:04] You email me

[00:12:05] At ChristmasMorningPodcast

[00:12:06] At gmail.com

[00:12:07] I'll send you the Dropbox link

[00:12:08] Brandon has seen the folder

[00:12:09] It is full

[00:12:10] Scotty is out here

[00:12:12] Just pirating

[00:12:13] Recklessly

[00:12:14] He's a pirate

[00:12:15] He's a Thanksgiving pirate

[00:14:25] Thank you TV Scotty

[00:14:27] It is time for the Christmas music battle

[00:14:29] We are battling the classic Jingle Bells

[00:14:33] A song that says nothing about Christmas

[00:14:35] And yet is a Christmas song

[00:14:38] You like Jingle Bells?

[00:14:39] Well it started as a Thanksgiving song

[00:14:41] So good time to do it

[00:14:42] One Horse Open Sleigh was the original

[00:14:46] Probably the Tinseltoons episode that I get the most kudos for

[00:14:50] Is the Jingle Bells episode

[00:14:52] It's a good episode

[00:14:52] We went way into the history of it

[00:14:54] I really liked that episode

[00:14:55] Thank you

[00:14:56] I learned a lot

[00:14:56] Yep

[00:14:57] Let's get to it

[00:14:58] We got two versions of Jingle Bells

[00:15:00] Up first is a version by Luke James Schaefer

[00:15:05] I'm gonna go with

[00:15:06] Luke James Schaefer

[00:15:07] Dashing through the snow

[00:15:08] On a one horse open sleigh

[00:15:11] O'er the fields we go

[00:15:13] Laughing all the way

[00:15:15] Bells on bow tails ring

[00:15:18] Making spirits bright

[00:15:20] What fun it is to laugh and sing a sleighing song tonight

[00:15:24] Oh!

[00:15:25] Jingle bells, jingle bells

[00:15:27] Jingle all the way

[00:15:29] Oh what fun it is to ride in a one horse open sleigh

[00:15:34] Hey!

[00:15:34] Jingle bells, jingle bells

[00:15:37] Jingle all the way

[00:15:38] Oh what fun it is to ride in a one horse open sleigh

[00:15:43] A day or two ago

[00:15:45] I thought I'd take a ride

[00:15:48] And soon Miss Fanny Bright

[00:15:50] Was seated by my side

[00:15:52] The horse was leaning lank

[00:15:54] Miss Fortune seemed his lot

[00:15:57] We got into a drifted bank

[00:15:59] And then we got upshot

[00:16:01] Oh!

[00:16:02] Jingle bells, jingle bells

[00:16:04] Jingle all the way

[00:16:07] Oh what fun it is to ride in a one horse open sleigh

[00:16:11] Brain, I love a good jingle bells where they do the ha ha ha in the laugh track

[00:16:16] Not enough people ha ha ha. I will say that

[00:16:19] No, no. Some people gloss right over it. Not James Schaefer or Schaefer. Luke James Schaefer

[00:16:23] My kids this year, they learned about the jingle bells Batman smells and it has been a big hit

[00:16:30] Oh yeah, boys

[00:16:30] A big hit with the boys

[00:16:32] Robin laid an egg, boys

[00:16:34] You sure did

[00:16:35] Up next we got jingle bells by the fog cutters

[00:16:40] Jingle bells, jingle bells, jingle all the way

[00:16:44] Oh what fun it is to ride in a one horse open sleigh

[00:16:48] Hey yeah, jingle bells, jingle bells, jingle all the way

[00:16:53] Oh what fun it is to ride in a one horse open sleigh

[00:16:58] Dashing through the snow

[00:17:00] And a one horse open sleigh

[00:17:02] Over the fields we go

[00:17:05] Laughing all the way

[00:17:37] That sounded a lot like the Harry Connick Jr. version of Jingle Bells

[00:17:41] Gotta love the drums

[00:17:42] But it was the fog cutters

[00:17:42] A lot of people think that Jingle Bells is about the bells

[00:17:45] I say no, no, no, give me the snare

[00:17:46] Yeah, it's all about the jingle

[00:17:48] Turn up that snare

[00:17:49] We did it everybody

[00:17:50] Congratulations to us

[00:17:52] You can vote right now

[00:17:53] Link is in the description

[00:17:53] And we'll be live until New Year's Eve

[00:17:55] Along with all of the other battles that we are doing

[00:17:58] Every single day

[00:18:00] Well, we won't be live until New Year's Eve

[00:18:02] The link will be live until New Year's Eve

[00:18:04] I am not going to be here on New Year's Eve

[00:18:06] Ringing in the new year

[00:18:07] I don't know

[00:18:08] Have we considered a live Christmas morning

[00:18:11] Where you and I ring in the new year together

[00:18:12] Have we considered it?

[00:18:14] I think we did a New Year's party episode last year

[00:18:16] To wrap up the season

[00:18:17] And I'm down for that

[00:18:18] But not live

[00:18:19] Because TV Scotty goes to bed at 9 o'clock

[00:18:21] But if you think about it

[00:18:23] Your 9 o'clock is my 11 o'clock

[00:18:24] So you really only got to stay up until 10

[00:18:27] Super

[00:18:27] Pencil me in for that one, okay, Bran?

[00:18:29] Hey, he's penciled in everybody

[00:18:30] We did it

[00:18:32] We'll be back tomorrow

[00:18:33] Thanksgiving

[00:18:34] Let us be a part of your Thanksgiving celebrations

[00:18:37] We would love to join you

[00:18:38] We'll be here whenever you're ready for us

[00:18:40] So join us

[00:18:41] We're also doing a food song battle

[00:18:44] Oh, now that's good stuff

[00:18:45] It's a food fight, everybody

[00:18:46] Oh, a food fight

[00:18:47] So come on back

[00:18:47] Come on back tomorrow

[00:18:49] Until then

[00:18:50] Merry Christmas

[00:19:01] You're about to hear some ads

[00:19:02] That help pay for our trip

[00:19:03] Back and forth to the North Pole

[00:19:05] Feel free to listen

[00:19:06] Feel free to bail now

[00:19:07] But either way

[00:19:08] Thanks for being here

[00:19:09] Ho, ho, ho

[00:19:11] No

[00:19:11] No

[00:19:11] The North Pole

[00:19:11] In the past

[00:19:11] Yes

[00:19:11] The North Pole

[00:19:11] Thank you.
