[00:00:49] [SPEAKER_05]: Well, that's awfully nice of you to say happy Wednesday, Brandon.

[00:00:53] [SPEAKER_06]: Happy Wednesday to you as well, my friend.

[00:00:56] [SPEAKER_06]: It is great to be back here talking Christmas.

[00:00:59] [SPEAKER_06]: And I don't know about you, Scotty.

[00:01:01] [SPEAKER_06]: Something has happened in my soul that has made the Christmas

[00:01:06] [SPEAKER_06]: spirit really swell over the past week.

[00:01:09] [SPEAKER_06]: I had Christmas music going in my house all weekend.

[00:01:12] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, I had Christmas music going last night.

[00:01:15] [SPEAKER_05]: I was really enjoying it.

[00:01:17] [SPEAKER_05]: I agree. There's something that has changed.

[00:01:21] [SPEAKER_05]: It's almost tangible, like it's almost palpable.

[00:01:24] [SPEAKER_05]: I can I can feel it. It's coming.

[00:01:26] [SPEAKER_05]: And this is the best time of the year for people who love

[00:01:30] [SPEAKER_05]: Christmas because it's the anticipation.

[00:01:33] [SPEAKER_05]: It's just around the corner and I can't wait.

[00:01:36] [SPEAKER_05]: What music were you listening to?

[00:01:38] [SPEAKER_06]: I just had a little little thing called Christmas Radio Live playing.

[00:01:43] [SPEAKER_06]: Oh, yeah, your your station. Right. Right.

[00:01:45] [SPEAKER_06]: My online station is a fun little mix.

[00:01:48] [SPEAKER_06]: It's a fun little mix.

[00:01:49] [SPEAKER_05]: I was listening to a great album last night.

[00:01:52] [SPEAKER_05]: It's called I think it's called Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas.

[00:01:54] [SPEAKER_05]: It's by the jazz guitarist Kenny Burrell.

[00:01:57] [SPEAKER_05]: OK, and it's just a lovely I don't want to call it background

[00:02:01] [SPEAKER_05]: music because it's more than that, but it's mellow, it's chill.

[00:02:05] [SPEAKER_05]: It's just what I need right now.

[00:02:06] [SPEAKER_06]: And I love that. That's awesome.

[00:02:08] [SPEAKER_06]: Well, look at us.

[00:02:09] [SPEAKER_06]: If you've I'm sure people that are listening to this show

[00:02:11] [SPEAKER_06]: are also listening to some Christmas music.

[00:02:14] [SPEAKER_06]: But if you find it like Scotty, you and I, we love

[00:02:19] [SPEAKER_06]: we love finding new awesome Christmas albums.

[00:02:22] [SPEAKER_06]: You sent me something the other day that was incredible.

[00:02:25] [SPEAKER_05]: Oh, a version of All I Want for Christmas is You that was phenomenal.

[00:02:29] [SPEAKER_06]: What was the name of that artist?

[00:02:31] [SPEAKER_06]: I don't even I can find out really quickly from the text message.

[00:02:35] [SPEAKER_06]: But not only an amazing voice, an amazing trumpeteer Scotty.

[00:02:39] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, it is Bria Scumberg.

[00:02:42] [SPEAKER_05]: And unfortunately, that's her only Christmas release

[00:02:45] [SPEAKER_05]: that I could find there.

[00:02:46] [SPEAKER_05]: And it was a single.

[00:02:47] [SPEAKER_05]: I was hoping it was an entire album.

[00:02:49] [SPEAKER_05]: So, so good.

[00:02:50] [SPEAKER_05]: I would recommend everybody check that out.

[00:02:52] [SPEAKER_05]: Maybe you can even put the link in the show notes to Spotify.

[00:02:55] [SPEAKER_06]: I like that. I like that a lot.

[00:02:57] [SPEAKER_06]: But Scotty, it's not just us that have our feel in that Christmas spirit.

[00:03:01] [SPEAKER_06]: The listeners are as well, because that mailbox looks packed.

[00:03:06] [SPEAKER_01]: Let's open it up and see what's in it.

[00:03:14] [SPEAKER_05]: The first email is from David Hatfield,

[00:03:17] [SPEAKER_05]: who's a wonderful fan of the show and also a prolific emailer lately.

[00:03:21] [SPEAKER_05]: He's been sending in some awesome stuff. Oh, good.

[00:03:24] [SPEAKER_05]: Well, what he sent in today was a screenshot

[00:03:26] [SPEAKER_05]: of some new Christmas Funko that's being released this year.

[00:03:30] [SPEAKER_05]: Do you see the picture?

[00:03:31] [SPEAKER_05]: I see the picture.

[00:03:32] [SPEAKER_05]: I'm seeing Charles Dickens, a Christmas Carol.

[00:03:36] [SPEAKER_05]: There's there's some scary ones in here.

[00:03:38] [SPEAKER_05]: That ghost of Christmas yet to come is terrifying.

[00:03:40] [SPEAKER_06]: And it looks like Marley,

[00:03:44] [SPEAKER_06]: the ghost yet to come and the ghost of present.

[00:03:47] [SPEAKER_06]: What's the yellow one?

[00:03:48] [SPEAKER_06]: I think that's present because the one with the green thing on the head,

[00:03:52] [SPEAKER_05]: that's not Holly Reith. Yeah, that's past.

[00:03:54] [SPEAKER_05]: I think that's present. Really?

[00:03:56] [SPEAKER_05]: Yes. Yeah, it is.

[00:03:57] [SPEAKER_05]: Yes. The one wearing the Holly Reith and the robe should be present.

[00:04:00] [SPEAKER_05]: Anyway, I'm going to post this photo on our Instagram.

[00:04:03] [SPEAKER_05]: These look so cool.

[00:04:05] [SPEAKER_05]: Some of them glow in the dark, it says those ghosts.

[00:04:07] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, I want the glow in the dark Jacob Marley one.

[00:04:10] [SPEAKER_05]: That's the one I'm going to be looking for this season.

[00:04:13] [SPEAKER_05]: And also the Scrooge one wearing the night cap.

[00:04:15] [SPEAKER_05]: I love a good nightcap. Yeah. Mostly because I'm bald.

[00:04:18] [SPEAKER_05]: You're wearing a cap right now and it's adorable.

[00:04:20] [SPEAKER_05]: Oh, yeah. With the reindeer.

[00:04:22] [SPEAKER_05]: It even jingles.

[00:04:24] [SPEAKER_05]: It's a little warmer than you thought.

[00:04:25] [SPEAKER_05]: And then when you scroll down, there's new Grinch and Max ones.

[00:04:31] [SPEAKER_05]: Oh, wow. Those are new.

[00:04:32] [SPEAKER_05]: It looks like they're fuzzy too.

[00:04:34] [SPEAKER_05]: Look at the second one. Look at Max.

[00:04:36] [SPEAKER_05]: Does that not look fuzzy?

[00:04:38] [SPEAKER_06]: I see because I got I got a Grinch one.

[00:04:40] [SPEAKER_06]: Let me grab it.

[00:04:40] [SPEAKER_05]: The third one with the Grinch coming out of the chimney is a must buy for me.

[00:04:45] [SPEAKER_05]: It's called Grinch with Bag.

[00:04:47] [SPEAKER_05]: Yes, the one that I have.

[00:04:49] [SPEAKER_05]: Oh, you're right. It is. Yeah.

[00:04:50] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, I have it, but I took it out of the package because I'm a real fan.

[00:04:53] [SPEAKER_05]: It's fuzzy.

[00:04:55] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, the one I have does look fuzzy.

[00:04:58] [SPEAKER_06]: It's flocked is the terminology.

[00:05:00] [SPEAKER_05]: Flocked. That's the word. Right.

[00:05:02] [SPEAKER_05]: I can't. Yeah, it says flocked.

[00:05:04] [SPEAKER_05]: It says Amazon exclusive too.

[00:05:06] [SPEAKER_05]: So I'm going to post these two photos to our Instagram so people can check them out.

[00:05:10] [SPEAKER_05]: I hope you're as excited about them as I am.

[00:05:12] [SPEAKER_05]: The one of the Grinch coming out of the chimney is pretty cool.

[00:05:14] [SPEAKER_05]: It's so cool.

[00:05:15] [SPEAKER_05]: That one's that one's going to be right in my recording studio.

[00:05:17] [SPEAKER_05]: OK, next email from Mark Rowley.

[00:05:20] [SPEAKER_05]: On last Wednesday's show, you asked if the clothes in the A Christmas Story Museum

[00:05:25] [SPEAKER_05]: are the genuine articles.

[00:05:26] [SPEAKER_05]: Well, in a documentary, A Road Trip for Ralphie made by two huge fans,

[00:05:31] [SPEAKER_05]: they managed to track down the genuine clothes worn in the movie,

[00:05:34] [SPEAKER_05]: as well as the shooting locations such as the Christmas tree lot

[00:05:37] [SPEAKER_05]: and the restaurant featured at the end, not to mention the fate of Ralphie's BB gun.

[00:05:42] [SPEAKER_05]: I don't know if the clothes used in the movie were donated to the museum,

[00:05:45] [SPEAKER_05]: though, or if they're just copies.

[00:05:47] [SPEAKER_05]: Just thought I'd point it out and recommend the documentary

[00:05:49] [SPEAKER_05]: as it is interesting viewing if you can find it.

[00:05:52] [SPEAKER_05]: It used to be on Amazon Prime, and he finishes the email by saying 28 days

[00:05:57] [SPEAKER_05]: until my decorations go up as of this writing, so I'm bouncing off the walls.

[00:06:01] [SPEAKER_05]: And then he sent a follow up email real quick and said,

[00:06:05] [SPEAKER_05]: just a quick message for you to hopefully relate to all your UK listeners.

[00:06:09] [SPEAKER_05]: Great exclamation point movies Christmas Channel launches again on September 5th.

[00:06:14] [SPEAKER_05]: It's a cracking Christmas movie channel that broadcasts Christmas films 24 seven

[00:06:18] [SPEAKER_05]: and is free to view.

[00:06:19] [SPEAKER_05]: It was formerly called the Soty Christmas movie channel.

[00:06:22] [SPEAKER_05]: I don't know if that's something we have available.

[00:06:24] [SPEAKER_05]: It doesn't sound like a brand.

[00:06:25] [SPEAKER_06]: It's not. No, this is something that every year they start so early.

[00:06:30] [SPEAKER_06]: And I I wish somebody would figure out a way to let us see it.

[00:06:37] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, no kidding.

[00:06:38] [SPEAKER_06]: I would love to see that.

[00:06:39] [SPEAKER_06]: Maybe some sort of someone just set up their camera

[00:06:42] [SPEAKER_06]: and anyone at the TV just let us watch.

[00:06:45] [SPEAKER_05]: Those are our emails for today.

[00:06:48] [SPEAKER_05]: How are we doing in the review department?

[00:06:49] [SPEAKER_06]: I was just going to add really quickly.

[00:06:50] [SPEAKER_06]: It does look like the documentary, at least here stateside,

[00:06:54] [SPEAKER_06]: is streaming on Tubi and on Roku for free with that.

[00:06:57] [SPEAKER_06]: You can check that out.

[00:06:59] [SPEAKER_06]: It looks very homemade, like low budget.

[00:07:02] [SPEAKER_06]: I don't know which I'm intrigued by it.

[00:07:05] [SPEAKER_06]: I will give it a shot.

[00:07:06] [SPEAKER_06]: But it does look like somebody just went out with their camera

[00:07:09] [SPEAKER_06]: and said, I can give this a shot, but maybe it's higher quality

[00:07:12] [SPEAKER_06]: than it looks with the pictures.

[00:07:14] [SPEAKER_06]: Gotcha. No, I'm not saying that's a bad thing.

[00:07:17] [SPEAKER_06]: I'm just trying to set expectations here.

[00:07:19] [SPEAKER_06]: This isn't maybe going to win any awards for cinematography

[00:07:23] [SPEAKER_06]: or something like that.

[00:07:26] [SPEAKER_06]: We do have a review, Scotty, we're up to 256.

[00:07:28] [SPEAKER_06]: This is from Donkey Hero.

[00:07:31] [SPEAKER_06]: Thank you.

[00:07:33] [SPEAKER_06]: That says the subject line is thank you for the joy

[00:07:36] [SPEAKER_06]: that you share all year round with a little Christmas tree emoji.

[00:07:39] [SPEAKER_06]: And this is a lengthy review.

[00:07:42] [SPEAKER_06]: So bear with me here.

[00:07:43] [SPEAKER_06]: But it's real good. Hi, Brandon Scott.

[00:07:45] [SPEAKER_06]: My name is Allison.

[00:07:46] [SPEAKER_06]: Thank you for this very merry podcast that you give me

[00:07:50] [SPEAKER_06]: and all other Christmas enthusiasts throughout the year.

[00:07:53] [SPEAKER_06]: I just started listening around this time last year,

[00:07:56] [SPEAKER_06]: and I feel very excited because it was the first weekly

[00:08:00] [SPEAKER_06]: Christmas podcast that I found.

[00:08:02] [SPEAKER_06]: I still think, Scotty, that we might be the only one

[00:08:05] [SPEAKER_06]: outside of the holiday season.

[00:08:07] [SPEAKER_06]: I'm not saying that makes us the best.

[00:08:09] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, yeah, yeah.

[00:08:09] [SPEAKER_06]: Saying are there other other? I don't know.

[00:08:12] [SPEAKER_06]: I remember listening to it and feeling like it was with friends.

[00:08:15] [SPEAKER_06]: That's very sweet.

[00:08:16] [SPEAKER_05]: You absolutely are, Allison.

[00:08:18] [SPEAKER_06]: I would respond to the conversations you were having like you were sitting

[00:08:21] [SPEAKER_06]: like we were all sitting around a cozy fire drinking hot chocolate.

[00:08:25] [SPEAKER_06]: Thank you so much for the cheer that you bring all year.

[00:08:28] [SPEAKER_06]: I am very excited as I am Christmas morning every Wednesday when I wake up.

[00:08:34] [SPEAKER_06]: P.S. I may have this confused with another podcast,

[00:08:38] [SPEAKER_06]: but I think there was an episode last year where you went

[00:08:40] [SPEAKER_06]: early Christmas shopping to see what the store had.

[00:08:44] [SPEAKER_06]: You were at Walmart and found a cute Christmas village.

[00:08:47] [SPEAKER_06]: And I remember being super excited hearing you guys talk about it

[00:08:50] [SPEAKER_06]: because I bought the same Christmas village that week.

[00:08:52] [SPEAKER_06]: I knew from that episode on that I was a forever fan

[00:08:56] [SPEAKER_06]: as a weekly show.

[00:08:58] [SPEAKER_06]: I don't remember everything that we talk about, but it does sound like

[00:09:02] [SPEAKER_06]: we are very into reading the emails where people talk about Christmas

[00:09:05] [SPEAKER_06]: out in the out in public.

[00:09:06] [SPEAKER_06]: So it does seem like something we would do.

[00:09:08] [SPEAKER_05]: And I absolutely go to Walmart early in the season and we do talk about it.

[00:09:13] [SPEAKER_05]: So I don't think we did an actual episode like here we are at the store,

[00:09:16] [SPEAKER_05]: but it could have been mentioned in passing.

[00:09:18] [SPEAKER_05]: Either way, thank you for the review, Allison.

[00:09:21] [SPEAKER_05]: That was so sweet.

[00:09:22] [SPEAKER_05]: And it's nice to know that people care and they really resonate

[00:09:25] [SPEAKER_05]: with what we're doing.

[00:09:26] [SPEAKER_05]: And that makes it all worth it because Brian, you and I would do this

[00:09:30] [SPEAKER_05]: even if nobody listened.

[00:09:32] [SPEAKER_06]: It is true, Scotty, you and I text about Christmas all week long.

[00:09:36] [SPEAKER_06]: So it doesn't really matter if anybody's listening or not.

[00:09:38] [SPEAKER_06]: But the fact that they do really makes us all warm and fuzzy.

[00:09:41] [SPEAKER_06]: So thank you so much for that review.

[00:09:43] [SPEAKER_06]: And if you haven't left a review yet, please, please do so.

[00:09:46] [SPEAKER_06]: They make us they make us happy and it helps people find the show easier

[00:09:50] [SPEAKER_06]: when someone searches for Christmas podcasts, which is what we really want.

[00:09:54] [SPEAKER_05]: It's not just a vanity project.

[00:09:56] [SPEAKER_06]: No, no, no. Yes, it truly is.

[00:09:57] [SPEAKER_06]: Just so that when people search Christmas podcast,

[00:10:00] [SPEAKER_06]: it helps that pop up towards the top.

[00:10:02] [SPEAKER_06]: Makes it easier for people to find Scotty.

[00:10:04] [SPEAKER_06]: Do you got a joke for us today?

[00:10:06] [SPEAKER_05]: I do. And this one is submitted by listener Jack Unverforth.

[00:10:09] [SPEAKER_05]: Are you ready for it?

[00:10:10] [SPEAKER_05]: Did does Jack read it? No.

[00:10:12] [SPEAKER_06]: Come on, Jack. It's OK.

[00:10:14] [SPEAKER_05]: Jack also submits a lot of emails to us with great stuff.

[00:10:17] [SPEAKER_05]: So I'm going to give him a pass on not reading it.

[00:10:20] [SPEAKER_05]: The joke is, what do you call a search engine

[00:10:23] [SPEAKER_05]: that sings the best Christmas songs?

[00:10:25] [SPEAKER_06]: Oh, my gosh.

[00:10:27] [SPEAKER_06]: This is some sort of pun about search engines.

[00:10:31] [SPEAKER_05]: I don't know. Michael Gouglet.

[00:10:37] [SPEAKER_06]: That's one of the funniest ones I can recall.

[00:10:39] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, that one's from a Reader's Digest Dad Jokes thing he sent in.

[00:10:43] [SPEAKER_05]: And I appreciate that, Jack. Thank you.

[00:10:44] [SPEAKER_05]: That hit me funny.

[00:10:46] [SPEAKER_05]: Let's do the countdown. Let's do it.

[00:10:54] [SPEAKER_06]: 133 days until Christmas.

[00:10:58] [SPEAKER_06]: I have to be honest with you, Scott.

[00:11:00] [SPEAKER_06]: I saw that number right before I was about to say it.

[00:11:04] [SPEAKER_06]: And for a second, I said that can't be right.

[00:11:06] [SPEAKER_05]: Though that's how I felt looking at it, where it says as of Wednesday,

[00:11:09] [SPEAKER_05]: August 14th, because I feel like Valentine's Day was maybe about a week ago.

[00:11:12] [SPEAKER_06]: I know, man.

[00:11:14] [SPEAKER_06]: There's something about it being in the 130s that just was like, oh,

[00:11:18] [SPEAKER_06]: 19 weeks from now.

[00:11:20] [SPEAKER_05]: Wow. 19 weeks.

[00:11:22] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah. And as of this recording, we're only like 16 days until fall.

[00:11:26] [SPEAKER_05]: Wow. Calendar fall.

[00:11:28] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, despite what Krispy Kreme wants you to believe is not technically fall yet,

[00:11:32] [SPEAKER_06]: even though they have the pumpkin spice stuff out.

[00:11:34] [SPEAKER_05]: And I also have good news for you, Brian. What's that?

[00:11:36] [SPEAKER_05]: It's only 48 days until October 1st. Wow.

[00:11:40] [SPEAKER_05]: That's six weeks.

[00:11:42] [SPEAKER_05]: That's crazy. That's awesome.

[00:11:44] [SPEAKER_06]: That's very exciting. Very, very exciting.

[00:11:46] [SPEAKER_06]: Hey, I got some news if you want it. Oh, heck yeah.

[00:11:54] [SPEAKER_06]: Today is August 14th.

[00:11:57] [SPEAKER_06]: Here's the news.

[00:11:59] [SPEAKER_06]: Well, well, well,

[00:12:01] [SPEAKER_06]: Scotty, are you a Simpsons fan?

[00:12:05] [SPEAKER_06]: I am a Simpsons mega fan.

[00:12:07] [SPEAKER_06]: OK, well, then this news is for you

[00:12:10] [SPEAKER_06]: and all of the other Simpson mega fans out there.

[00:12:14] [SPEAKER_06]: I've seen The Simpsons and when I watch it, I enjoy it.

[00:12:18] [SPEAKER_06]: But I haven't watched it in years, but I may watch it because of the news.

[00:12:23] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, I don't really watch the new ones.

[00:12:26] [SPEAKER_05]: Once in a while, I might catch a stray one.

[00:12:28] [SPEAKER_05]: But for me, it's the golden years, those first, you know, seven or eight seasons.

[00:12:33] [SPEAKER_06]: I think you might seek this this one out, though, Scotty.

[00:12:37] [SPEAKER_06]: The Simpsons, it was announced at the D23 convention.

[00:12:42] [SPEAKER_06]: That's when Disney does a bunch of announcements about what they have

[00:12:45] [SPEAKER_06]: coming out, you know, in the next year or with Marvel in the next 30 years.

[00:12:49] [SPEAKER_06]: You know, they have that all planned out and mapped out.

[00:12:51] [SPEAKER_06]: And it's always a big thing.

[00:12:53] [SPEAKER_06]: This they're putting out they're getting ready to launch

[00:12:56] [SPEAKER_06]: season 36 this fall on Fox.

[00:13:00] [SPEAKER_06]: But there's also going to be some Disney plus specific episodes,

[00:13:05] [SPEAKER_06]: including a new Christmas themed two parter

[00:13:10] [SPEAKER_06]: Oh, come all ye faithful, which is premiering on December 17th,

[00:13:15] [SPEAKER_06]: which is timed to the 35th anniversary of the very first Simpsons episode.

[00:13:20] [SPEAKER_06]: Oh, cool.

[00:13:22] [SPEAKER_06]: Which was a similarly holiday themed Simpsons roasting on open fire in 1989.

[00:13:29] [SPEAKER_06]: So this is a two part Christmas episode

[00:13:33] [SPEAKER_06]: that is going to be premiering on Disney plus this December.

[00:13:38] [SPEAKER_06]: But there's also other episodes that are that are going to be coming out.

[00:13:43] [SPEAKER_06]: There's an October, a new exclusive Simpson shorts

[00:13:47] [SPEAKER_06]: that is Halloween themed or is going to premiere on Disney plus

[00:13:50] [SPEAKER_06]: a lots of holiday themed

[00:13:54] [SPEAKER_06]: Simpson episodes coming out on Disney plus this year,

[00:13:58] [SPEAKER_06]: which is which is quite exciting.

[00:13:59] [SPEAKER_06]: So if you are a Simpson fan and you are OK

[00:14:03] [SPEAKER_06]: with the fact that sometimes, you know, things evolve

[00:14:07] [SPEAKER_06]: and the idea of the Simpsons ever being exclusive to Disney plus

[00:14:12] [SPEAKER_06]: seems crazy to me.

[00:14:13] [SPEAKER_06]: The whole season won't be, but just like some of these specials will be.

[00:14:16] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, I get it.

[00:14:18] [SPEAKER_06]: That's it, Scotty.

[00:14:18] [SPEAKER_06]: That is it for the news today.

[00:14:21] [SPEAKER_06]: Something for those Simpson fans out there, just like you, Scotty.

[00:14:24] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah. And I'll watch the new Christmas episodes.

[00:14:28] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah. Not as interested in the new seasonal episodes.

[00:14:31] [SPEAKER_05]: I don't think the writing is nearly as good, although after 36 years

[00:14:35] [SPEAKER_05]: kind of run out of ideas.

[00:14:36] [SPEAKER_05]: But the Christmas ones, fantastic.

[00:14:38] [SPEAKER_05]: And the Christmas ones from the golden years are just the absolute best.

[00:14:42] [SPEAKER_06]: I got to be honest, the picture that is on this variety article,

[00:14:47] [SPEAKER_06]: which I believe is a press photo of the Christmas episode that's coming out

[00:14:50] [SPEAKER_06]: looks very Christmassy.

[00:14:51] [SPEAKER_06]: I like it. It's very nice.

[00:14:54] [SPEAKER_06]: Scotty, let's take a quick break. We'll come back.

[00:14:55] [SPEAKER_06]: We will get to the TV listings for the week

[00:14:58] [SPEAKER_06]: and then, of course, talk about that battle from last week

[00:15:00] [SPEAKER_06]: and do this week's original Christmas music battle here on Christmas morning.

[00:15:08] [SPEAKER_06]: Welcome back, everybody.

[00:15:10] [SPEAKER_06]: Hopefully you're having a wonderful week so far.

[00:15:14] [SPEAKER_06]: You're halfway there to the weekend, which is very exciting.

[00:15:18] [SPEAKER_06]: We are in August and you might think there's not any Christmas TV out there,

[00:15:22] [SPEAKER_06]: but you would be wrong.

[00:15:24] [SPEAKER_06]: There is Christmas TV out there.

[00:15:25] [SPEAKER_06]: And TV Scotty is here to take us through what we can look for

[00:15:30] [SPEAKER_06]: in the coming days.

[00:15:32] [SPEAKER_05]: Oh, yeah, we have a pretty good amount and building each week.

[00:15:36] [SPEAKER_05]: I almost have to cut it down a little bit for time.

[00:15:38] [SPEAKER_05]: So here are the Christmas TV specials for the next couple of days,

[00:17:54] [SPEAKER_05]: I'm assuming it's like some sort of cop show or something.

[00:17:57] [SPEAKER_05]: And 8.04pm, a very weird time on USA, Law and Order, SVU,

[00:18:02] [SPEAKER_05]: Silent Night, Hateful Night.

[00:18:04] [SPEAKER_05]: And those are your Christmas TV specials

[00:18:05] [SPEAKER_05]: for the next couple of days,

[00:18:06] [SPEAKER_05]: courtesy of MostlyChristmas.com.

[00:18:08] [SPEAKER_06]: I gotta say, Scotty, I feel like this is the third week

[00:18:11] [SPEAKER_06]: in a row that National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation

[00:18:13] [SPEAKER_06]: has aired, and I think it's been

[00:18:15] [SPEAKER_06]: on three different networks.

[00:18:17] [SPEAKER_06]: So, interesting.

[00:18:18] [SPEAKER_06]: Getting easier to find it in the wild.

[00:18:20] [SPEAKER_06]: It seems like it.

[00:18:22] [SPEAKER_06]: Let's get to the Christmas music battle.

[00:18:24] [SPEAKER_06]: Let's get to last week's results first.

[00:18:28] [SPEAKER_06]: It was a relatively close battle,

[00:18:32] [SPEAKER_06]: like all within kind of, you know.

[00:18:34] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, when the winner is less than 50%,

[00:18:36] [SPEAKER_05]: I call it close-ish.

[00:18:37] [SPEAKER_05]: I call it a blowout if the winner has more than 50%.

[00:18:41] [SPEAKER_06]: In last place with 21.2% of the voters

[00:18:45] [SPEAKER_06]: up on the housetop by late Tuesday.

[00:18:48] [SPEAKER_05]: I brought this one.

[00:18:50] [SPEAKER_05]: I brought it because it was so weird.

[00:18:52] [SPEAKER_05]: It is, yeah.

[00:18:53] [SPEAKER_05]: Not because I think it's the greatest version.

[00:18:55] [SPEAKER_05]: I've just never heard anything like it before.

[00:18:57] [SPEAKER_05]: A minor version of Up on the Housetop.

[00:18:59] [SPEAKER_06]: Singer-songwriter minor version of Up on the Housetop

[00:19:03] [SPEAKER_06]: is not one that I anticipated hearing.

[00:19:05] [SPEAKER_06]: I like it though, it's nice.

[00:19:07] [SPEAKER_05]: I like it in a weird way.

[00:19:08] [SPEAKER_05]: 21.2% of the vote, 14 votes.

[00:19:11] [SPEAKER_05]: Not bad, a few people resonated with it.

[00:19:13] [SPEAKER_05]: Some nice harms there in the chorus.

[00:19:16] [SPEAKER_06]: That's nice, I like that a lot.

[00:19:18] [SPEAKER_06]: In second place is the version that I brought.

[00:19:21] [SPEAKER_06]: It's up on the housetop by Sam Johnson Trio.

[00:19:25] [SPEAKER_06]: I brought an instrumental, it was a bold move.

[00:19:28] [SPEAKER_05]: I like this.

[00:19:29] [SPEAKER_06]: I feel like maybe it had a chance but not quite.

[00:19:32] [SPEAKER_05]: You know if this had vocals,

[00:19:34] [SPEAKER_05]: I think it would have been even more well-received.

[00:19:36] [SPEAKER_05]: Still 33% of the vote.

[00:19:38] [SPEAKER_05]: I should've added vocals myself.

[00:19:40] [SPEAKER_05]: I don't think that's in the rules.

[00:19:42] [SPEAKER_06]: Ah, okay fair enough.

[00:19:43] [SPEAKER_05]: But I like it, I really like this upbeat

[00:19:45] [SPEAKER_05]: piano trio kind of thing that's happening.

[00:19:48] [SPEAKER_06]: This little exit ramp here.

[00:19:51] [SPEAKER_06]: Just to play around, it's nice.

[00:19:53] [SPEAKER_06]: It's very nice.

[00:19:54] [SPEAKER_06]: But that means the winner this week are the listeners

[00:19:57] [SPEAKER_06]: with up on the housetop by Amanda McCarthy.

[00:20:01] [SPEAKER_05]: When we were playing these last week Brian

[00:20:03] [SPEAKER_05]: I even said to you, this one's going to win.

[00:20:05] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah I think my critique of it would be

[00:20:09] [SPEAKER_06]: it is too clean for a rock version.

[00:20:15] [SPEAKER_06]: It's very produced.

[00:20:18] [SPEAKER_05]: Well what I liked about it was

[00:20:19] [SPEAKER_05]: it's well produced but it has really good growly guitars

[00:20:24] [SPEAKER_05]: and this is kind of considered a kids song

[00:20:26] [SPEAKER_05]: and it takes it out of that and I liked it.

[00:20:29] [SPEAKER_05]: If I heard this one, I wouldn't change it.

[00:20:31] [SPEAKER_05]: I'd be like oh this is pretty good.

[00:20:32] [SPEAKER_06]: But also vocally she sounds like someone

[00:20:34] [SPEAKER_06]: who could've put out a kids album too.

[00:20:37] [SPEAKER_06]: It's like a very nice voice.

[00:20:39] [SPEAKER_06]: Unlike some other rock versions we've heard over the years.

[00:20:42] [SPEAKER_05]: Yes very much so.

[00:20:44] [SPEAKER_05]: So the winners are the listeners.

[00:20:46] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah so that was brought to us by listener Jack Unverfirth.

[00:20:49] [SPEAKER_05]: The aforementioned Jack Unverfirth.

[00:20:51] [SPEAKER_05]: Big week for Jack.

[00:20:52] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah big time.

[00:20:53] [SPEAKER_06]: That means that the listeners have once again

[00:20:56] [SPEAKER_06]: taken the lead 11 to 10.

[00:20:59] [SPEAKER_06]: Scotty you have 10 and then I am down there with eight.

[00:21:02] [SPEAKER_06]: So I'll see if I can chip into it.

[00:21:03] [SPEAKER_05]: We'll see what you can do this week huh?

[00:21:05] [SPEAKER_06]: Let's see, let's see.

[00:21:07] [SPEAKER_06]: It's a close battle though.

[00:21:08] [SPEAKER_06]: I still think that it's definitely anybody's game here

[00:21:10] [SPEAKER_06]: for the next couple months so we'll see what happens.

[00:21:14] [SPEAKER_06]: This week's song is original.

[00:21:17] [SPEAKER_06]: Original Christmas song week on Bandcamp

[00:21:19] [SPEAKER_06]: is always quite the journey.

[00:21:21] [SPEAKER_06]: I'm excited to see what we have here.

[00:21:23] [SPEAKER_06]: Did you bring some trivia for us Scotty?

[00:21:25] [SPEAKER_05]: I did and I had to bring some random trivia

[00:21:27] [SPEAKER_05]: because obviously we can't have trivia

[00:21:29] [SPEAKER_05]: about an original Christmas song.

[00:21:31] [SPEAKER_05]: So here's an interesting little fact I found.

[00:21:34] [SPEAKER_05]: I saw three ships describes three ships

[00:21:37] [SPEAKER_05]: sailing into landlocked Bethlehem.

[00:21:39] [SPEAKER_05]: It may be that the ships were actually

[00:21:42] [SPEAKER_05]: the camels bringing the magi.

[00:21:44] [SPEAKER_05]: Oh okay.

[00:21:45] [SPEAKER_05]: Well you don't think about it.

[00:21:46] [SPEAKER_05]: I've heard this song all my life

[00:21:47] [SPEAKER_05]: and I never thought about three ships

[00:21:49] [SPEAKER_05]: trying to dock in a landlocked country.

[00:21:51] [SPEAKER_05]: So interesting.

[00:21:52] [SPEAKER_06]: That is interesting.

[00:21:53] [SPEAKER_06]: This song's deeper than we ever thought.

[00:21:55] [SPEAKER_05]: That's right, that's right.

[00:21:56] [SPEAKER_06]: Let's see what we got for some original Christmas songs

[00:21:59] [SPEAKER_06]: of course all of which are available on Bandcamp.

[00:22:02] [SPEAKER_06]: First we have a song called Dear Santa

[00:22:04] [SPEAKER_06]: by the Ukulele Girls.

[00:22:08] [SPEAKER_02]: Dear Santa, wish this Christmas

[00:22:14] [SPEAKER_02]: I'd like to have a gift this Christmas

[00:22:22] [SPEAKER_02]: And it could be, could be, could be

[00:22:26] [SPEAKER_02]: A fun surprise

[00:22:30] [SPEAKER_02]: Dear Santa, please be nice

[00:22:39] [SPEAKER_02]: Dear Santa, let us be frank

[00:22:45] [SPEAKER_02]: This Christmas I don't mind

[00:22:49] [SPEAKER_02]: Having a check that is blank

[00:22:53] [SPEAKER_02]: This Christmas and it would be, would be, would be

[00:22:58] [SPEAKER_02]: A fine romance

[00:23:02] [SPEAKER_02]: Dear Santa, if you could bring me to friends

[00:23:10] [SPEAKER_06]: Ooh I like that.

[00:23:11] [SPEAKER_06]: That's nice.

[00:23:12] [SPEAKER_06]: When it first started out I was like,

[00:23:14] [SPEAKER_06]: what's happening here?

[00:23:15] [SPEAKER_06]: And then the beat came in and I liked it.

[00:23:19] [SPEAKER_06]: It was a nice vibe.

[00:23:20] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, it needed the beat

[00:23:20] [SPEAKER_05]: because every time I bring Cynthia Lynn

[00:23:22] [SPEAKER_05]: she does wonderful singing over ukulele

[00:23:25] [SPEAKER_05]: but it's just her and it never wins.

[00:23:27] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, this was nice though.

[00:23:28] [SPEAKER_05]: I like it.

[00:23:28] [SPEAKER_05]: It was nice.

[00:23:29] [SPEAKER_06]: And you know what I appreciate about the band name

[00:23:31] [SPEAKER_06]: The Ukulele Girls is there's no questioning

[00:23:33] [SPEAKER_06]: what's about to happen.

[00:23:34] [SPEAKER_06]: Right.

[00:23:34] [SPEAKER_06]: You know, it's the Ukulele Girls.

[00:23:36] [SPEAKER_06]: It's girls singing with the ukulele.

[00:23:37] [SPEAKER_06]: It's nice.

[00:23:38] [SPEAKER_06]: Up next, uh oh, here we go.

[00:23:40] [SPEAKER_06]: It's I'll Be Alone for Christmas by Toasters and Moose.

[00:23:44] [SPEAKER_06]: Oh boy.

[00:23:45] [SPEAKER_00]: The candy, the presents, putting ornaments on the tree

[00:23:49] [SPEAKER_00]: stockings on the fireplace, set it down the chimney

[00:23:53] [SPEAKER_00]: TV specials, Christmas carols

[00:23:58] [SPEAKER_00]: mean nothing to me

[00:24:02] [SPEAKER_00]: Christmas is for those of you

[00:24:07] [SPEAKER_00]: with somebody to talk to

[00:24:11] [SPEAKER_00]: It's not anything new

[00:24:15] [SPEAKER_00]: and so it goes

[00:24:18] [SPEAKER_00]: I know I'll be alone for Christmas

[00:24:26] [SPEAKER_00]: The friends and the family

[00:24:28] [SPEAKER_00]: the people that you love

[00:24:31] [SPEAKER_00]: having a party with fellow workers at your job

[00:24:35] [SPEAKER_00]: on the second day of Christmas

[00:24:38] [SPEAKER_00]: I don't get no turtle dust

[00:24:45] [SPEAKER_00]: Christmas is just no fun

[00:24:49] [SPEAKER_00]: for those with no one

[00:24:52] [SPEAKER_05]: Well, that was not Christmas Biscuit

[00:24:54] [SPEAKER_05]: but it's the same artist.

[00:24:56] [SPEAKER_05]: And a lot of people were upset

[00:24:58] [SPEAKER_05]: when Christmas Biscuits did not win.

[00:25:00] [SPEAKER_05]: So people were upset.

[00:25:01] [SPEAKER_05]: Well, yeah, like three of them.

[00:25:03] [SPEAKER_05]: Man.

[00:25:03] [SPEAKER_05]: So maybe I'll Be Alone for Christmas will win.

[00:25:05] [SPEAKER_06]: Love that.

[00:25:06] [SPEAKER_06]: Somehow I miss that uproar of the of injustice.

[00:25:11] [SPEAKER_06]: Well, it was mostly me and Joe Fulton.

[00:25:13] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, okay.

[00:25:14] [SPEAKER_06]: There.

[00:25:16] [SPEAKER_06]: Last we have Christmas Comes to Me by Devin Yesburger.

[00:25:21] [SPEAKER_01]: Well, I place my order for a Christmas tree.

[00:25:28] [SPEAKER_01]: Two day shipping to 1-0023.

[00:25:32] [SPEAKER_01]: When it gets here, I'll be filled with glee

[00:25:37] [SPEAKER_01]: because I like Christmas when it comes to me.

[00:25:42] [SPEAKER_03]: I made some cookies, left them by the fire

[00:25:47] [SPEAKER_03]: because I know Santa Claus gets really, really tight

[00:25:53] [SPEAKER_03]: I hope his reindeer offer guarantees

[00:25:58] [SPEAKER_03]: because I like Christmas when it comes to me.

[00:26:03] [SPEAKER_03]: When it comes to me.

[00:26:05] [SPEAKER_03]: Friends and family at my door.

[00:26:08] [SPEAKER_03]: When it comes to me.

[00:26:10] [SPEAKER_03]: Presents laid out on the floor.

[00:26:13] [SPEAKER_03]: When it comes to me.

[00:26:15] [SPEAKER_03]: Crack the wine and let it pour.

[00:26:23] [SPEAKER_03]: I love when it comes to me.

[00:26:29] [SPEAKER_05]: Okay, Brian, I was enjoying the song.

[00:26:31] [SPEAKER_05]: I thought this is pretty good.

[00:26:32] [SPEAKER_05]: And then the female voice comes in

[00:26:34] [SPEAKER_05]: and I said, this is really good.

[00:26:36] [SPEAKER_05]: I like that one.

[00:26:37] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, it's Devin Yesburger.

[00:26:39] [SPEAKER_06]: I'm assuming that's the male.

[00:26:40] [SPEAKER_06]: I don't know who the female is

[00:26:42] [SPEAKER_06]: but Devin Yesburger,

[00:26:43] [SPEAKER_06]: unless Devin's got two crazy different voice registers,

[00:26:46] [SPEAKER_06]: I'm sure that might is a feature though

[00:26:49] [SPEAKER_06]: of somebody that didn't get credit.

[00:26:51] [SPEAKER_05]: Would you call that R&B?

[00:26:52] [SPEAKER_05]: Kind of like, yeah.

[00:26:53] [SPEAKER_05]: Like.

[00:26:53] [SPEAKER_05]: Just don't quite know how to classify it

[00:26:55] [SPEAKER_05]: but I really like it.

[00:26:57] [SPEAKER_05]: It's kind of funky, a little funky.

[00:26:59] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, it wasn't exactly R&B to me.

[00:27:02] [SPEAKER_05]: And I think that's what I liked about it

[00:27:04] [SPEAKER_05]: is it had just a little icing on top of it.

[00:27:06] [SPEAKER_06]: Nice.

[00:27:07] [SPEAKER_06]: You can vote right now.

[00:27:08] [SPEAKER_06]: Link is in the description, Scotty.

[00:27:10] [SPEAKER_06]: And next week is your week to shine,

[00:27:12] [SPEAKER_06]: especially as somebody who I think

[00:27:14] [SPEAKER_06]: is just constantly counting down

[00:27:15] [SPEAKER_06]: to when's the next instrumental week.

[00:27:17] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, for this week we got listener submissions

[00:27:19] [SPEAKER_05]: from Drew Basic, Lenora Gilbert, Lance Garman

[00:27:22] [SPEAKER_05]: and Jack Unverfer.

[00:27:23] [SPEAKER_05]: Thank you all so much for submitting.

[00:27:25] [SPEAKER_06]: Absolutely, next week, instrumental week.

[00:27:28] [SPEAKER_06]: So head to band camp,

[00:27:28] [SPEAKER_06]: try to track down some instrumental songs.

[00:27:32] [SPEAKER_06]: You know, maybe Sam Johnson's trio has more.

[00:27:35] [SPEAKER_05]: Maybe it's their chance to shine.

[00:27:37] [SPEAKER_05]: Brian, I've got some breaking news for you.

[00:27:39] [SPEAKER_06]: Oh, okay, good.

[00:27:42] [SPEAKER_05]: I have some additions to the song Backlog.

[00:27:46] [SPEAKER_05]: Oh wow, okay great.

[00:27:47] [SPEAKER_05]: Two of them are from me

[00:27:48] [SPEAKER_05]: because when I was listening

[00:27:49] [SPEAKER_05]: to a Spotify Christmas crooners playlist,

[00:27:52] [SPEAKER_05]: I came across two songs that we have not battled

[00:27:55] [SPEAKER_05]: and which is becoming more and more rare.

[00:27:57] [SPEAKER_05]: It's harder to find.

[00:27:58] [SPEAKER_05]: The first one is Santa Claus is back in town.

[00:28:00] [SPEAKER_05]: Okay, how's that one go?

[00:28:03] [SPEAKER_05]: Santa Claus is back in town.

[00:28:05] [SPEAKER_05]: It's usually used for like Santa strip shows.

[00:28:08] [SPEAKER_05]: Do you have experience?

[00:28:09] [SPEAKER_05]: I've seen them on the television.

[00:28:11] [SPEAKER_06]: Ah sure, if everybody recalls,

[00:28:14] [SPEAKER_06]: Scotty went to Santa training

[00:28:15] [SPEAKER_06]: and if you're wondering where that training led to.

[00:28:17] [SPEAKER_05]: It was not at Santa training.

[00:28:19] [SPEAKER_05]: You wouldn't wanna see any of those people

[00:28:22] [SPEAKER_05]: take their clothes off.

[00:28:23] [SPEAKER_05]: And the other one was Merry Christmas Baby.

[00:28:25] [SPEAKER_05]: Now that song I know you're familiar with.

[00:28:27] [SPEAKER_05]: Yes.

[00:28:28] [SPEAKER_05]: So surprised that we hadn't done those.

[00:28:29] [SPEAKER_05]: And then I have a bunch from Lance Garman.

[00:28:32] [SPEAKER_05]: We have I Won't Be Home for Christmas by Blink 182.

[00:28:36] [SPEAKER_06]: I won't be home, I won't be home for Christmas.

[00:28:40] [SPEAKER_05]: That's that.

[00:28:40] [SPEAKER_05]: That was really good. Thank you.

[00:28:42] [SPEAKER_05]: I Wish It Was Christmas Today from Saturday Night Live.

[00:28:45] [SPEAKER_05]: Oh yeah.

[00:28:46] [SPEAKER_05]: And Santa's Beard by They Might Be Giants.

[00:28:49] [SPEAKER_05]: And now Lance wrote in and said,

[00:28:50] [SPEAKER_05]: look these may seem strange

[00:28:52] [SPEAKER_05]: but I checked them all on Bandcamp

[00:28:53] [SPEAKER_05]: and there's like five or six pages of results

[00:28:56] [SPEAKER_05]: for each one.

[00:28:57] [SPEAKER_05]: I don't know if I know Santa's Beard.

[00:28:59] [SPEAKER_05]: I might have to check that one out.

[00:29:00] [SPEAKER_05]: I don't know that song.

[00:29:01] [SPEAKER_05]: I just know that there are plenty.

[00:29:03] [SPEAKER_05]: So those will be up in the mix coming up

[00:29:05] [SPEAKER_05]: and then we have Underneath the Tree from Lee Hodo

[00:29:07] [SPEAKER_05]: and a parody song battle from Laura Goldsmith.

[00:29:10] [SPEAKER_05]: Very nice.

[00:29:11] [SPEAKER_05]: Exciting, the backlog is quite full

[00:29:13] [SPEAKER_05]: but that's not for this week.

[00:29:14] [SPEAKER_05]: We have instrumental week coming up

[00:29:15] [SPEAKER_05]: which is my favorite week of the month.

[00:29:17] [SPEAKER_06]: That's right, Scotty.

[00:29:20] [SPEAKER_06]: And also please begin to submit some stuff

[00:29:23] [SPEAKER_06]: for the Christmas party episode

[00:29:24] [SPEAKER_06]: because it is coming up very quickly.

[00:29:27] [SPEAKER_06]: We have one more episode

[00:29:28] [SPEAKER_06]: and then the 25th this month is on a Sunday

[00:29:30] [SPEAKER_06]: which is very nice.

[00:29:32] [SPEAKER_05]: Ooh, that's nice.

[00:29:33] [SPEAKER_05]: You know why?

[00:29:34] [SPEAKER_05]: Not a lot of other podcasts coming out on a Sunday.

[00:29:36] [SPEAKER_05]: That's right, that's really when we're gonna

[00:29:37] [SPEAKER_05]: we're just gonna take over.

[00:29:39] [SPEAKER_05]: It clears the decks.

[00:29:40] [SPEAKER_05]: Everyone's like, ooh, a Sunday.

[00:29:41] [SPEAKER_05]: And we have a fair amount of content.

[00:29:43] [SPEAKER_05]: I've been saving up a whole lot

[00:29:45] [SPEAKER_05]: of Christmas in the wild spottings

[00:29:47] [SPEAKER_05]: but we could always use more

[00:29:49] [SPEAKER_05]: and I love audio clips from listeners.

[00:29:51] [SPEAKER_05]: So if you have something, please send it in

[00:29:53] [SPEAKER_05]: Christmas morning podcast at gmail.com.

[00:29:56] [SPEAKER_06]: Love it.

[00:29:56] [SPEAKER_06]: Thank you, Scotty.

[00:29:57] [SPEAKER_06]: Thank you to the listeners.

[00:29:59] [SPEAKER_06]: And guess what?

[00:29:59] [SPEAKER_06]: We're gonna be back next week

[00:30:00] [SPEAKER_06]: and we're gonna be even closer

[00:30:01] [SPEAKER_06]: to Christmas than we are right now.

[00:30:03] [SPEAKER_06]: And I could not be more excited, Scotty.

[00:30:06] [SPEAKER_05]: Me neither.

[00:30:07] [SPEAKER_06]: Until next time, Merry Christmas.

[00:30:19] [SPEAKER_05]: You're about to hear some ads

[00:30:20] [SPEAKER_05]: that help pay for our trip back

[00:30:22] [SPEAKER_05]: and forth to the North Pole.

[00:30:23] [SPEAKER_05]: Feel free to listen, feel free to bail now

[00:30:25] [SPEAKER_05]: but either way, thanks for being here.

[00:30:28] [SPEAKER_02]: Ho, ho, ho.
