[00:00:02] [SPEAKER_06]: This is a Bramble Jam Podcast.
[00:00:12] [SPEAKER_01]: Live from the North Pole, it's time for Christmas Morning, the daily show where every day is
[00:00:21] [SPEAKER_01]: Christmas.
[00:00:22] [SPEAKER_01]: Here are your hosts, Brand and Scott.
[00:00:33] [SPEAKER_06]: Well, hello everybody.
[00:00:36] [SPEAKER_06]: Welcome to another episode of Christmas Morning.
[00:00:38] [SPEAKER_06]: It's Brand.
[00:00:39] [SPEAKER_06]: You better believe I'm back with my boy Scotty Scotty.
[00:00:42] [SPEAKER_05]: Merry Christmas, pal.
[00:00:44] [SPEAKER_05]: Merry Christmas, Brandon.
[00:00:46] [SPEAKER_05]: It's our last episode before we break the hundred day mark.
[00:00:50] [SPEAKER_06]: I noticed it this morning.
[00:00:52] [SPEAKER_06]: I woke up and I was like, Oh, here we go.
[00:00:56] [SPEAKER_06]: This feels good.
[00:00:57] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah.
[00:00:57] [SPEAKER_05]: I heard you talking about it on DTH.
[00:00:59] [SPEAKER_05]: Dan wasn't really on board with it, but Alonzo was Alonzo is always good for
[00:01:03] [SPEAKER_05]: it.
[00:01:04] [SPEAKER_06]: Dan doesn't get it.
[00:01:05] [SPEAKER_06]: He doesn't get it, Scotty.
[00:01:07] [SPEAKER_06]: But that's why I do this show with you and not him.
[00:01:11] [SPEAKER_05]: It would have been a short lived show.
[00:01:14] [SPEAKER_06]: Some things are better to do with just the support, the blind support of a friend.
[00:01:20] [SPEAKER_06]: You know?
[00:01:20] [SPEAKER_05]: That's right.
[00:01:21] [SPEAKER_05]: And of course I get it.
[00:01:22] [SPEAKER_05]: I am so excited.
[00:01:23] [SPEAKER_05]: I get to break out my little electronic Christmas countdown calendars that only
[00:01:27] [SPEAKER_05]: go up to 99 days.
[00:01:29] [SPEAKER_05]: So I'm thrilled about this.
[00:01:31] [SPEAKER_06]: It's the little things.
[00:01:32] [SPEAKER_06]: It is the little things in life.
[00:01:33] [SPEAKER_06]: Oh, you need it really is, you know, if you don't have joy, what do you have?
[00:01:37] [SPEAKER_06]: Absolutely nothing.
[00:01:39] [SPEAKER_06]: Unlike our mail back, we got a lot of something in our mail back, Scotty.
[00:01:43] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, we do.
[00:01:44] [SPEAKER_05]: Let's let's open that bad boy up.
[00:01:52] [SPEAKER_05]: Brianne, sometimes I'm not good at email.
[00:01:54] [SPEAKER_05]: OK, I've had an email that's been in the inbox since I think the end of May,
[00:01:59] [SPEAKER_05]: early June, and I thought I was going to use it in a party episode.
[00:02:03] [SPEAKER_05]: And then I didn't.
[00:02:04] [SPEAKER_05]: And I just stink.
[00:02:06] [SPEAKER_05]: So we're getting to it today.
[00:02:07] [SPEAKER_05]: Maybe I'll say that we saved a really good one for now.
[00:02:11] [SPEAKER_05]: Here we are.
[00:02:11] [SPEAKER_05]: This email is from Kelly Andrioni.
[00:02:13] [SPEAKER_05]: So, Kelly, I'm sorry it took me this long to get to it.
[00:02:16] [SPEAKER_04]: It's OK.
[00:02:17] [SPEAKER_05]: Kelly says, Hey, Brandon Scott, after listening to the May Christmas party
[00:02:21] [SPEAKER_05]: episode, it made me realize that I always work Christmas stores into my
[00:02:25] [SPEAKER_05]: travels as well.
[00:02:26] [SPEAKER_05]: I have visited Christmas stores all over the U.S.
[00:02:29] [SPEAKER_05]: My family and I are on a 50 state journey.
[00:02:33] [SPEAKER_05]: Holy cow.
[00:02:33] [SPEAKER_05]: A journey?
[00:02:34] [SPEAKER_05]: A journey. Yeah, I don't know why I said it that way.
[00:02:36] [SPEAKER_05]: Sometimes you might call it a journey.
[00:02:38] [SPEAKER_05]: So every time we visit a new area, we try to find a new ornament to
[00:02:42] [SPEAKER_05]: commemorate that particular trip.
[00:02:43] [SPEAKER_05]: We have a road runner from Arizona, a peach from Georgia, an ear of corn
[00:02:47] [SPEAKER_05]: from South Dakota.
[00:02:48] [SPEAKER_05]: You get the idea.
[00:02:49] [SPEAKER_05]: I really hope it was just going to keep going on.
[00:02:52] [SPEAKER_05]: Last summer, however, we traveled to Italy and I dragged my family
[00:02:55] [SPEAKER_05]: to a little Christmas shop I had been ogling online for a very long time.
[00:02:59] [SPEAKER_05]: Ogling?
[00:02:59] [SPEAKER_05]: Ogling.
[00:03:00] [SPEAKER_05]: Sempre Natale.
[00:03:02] [SPEAKER_05]: It's in the heart of Rome, right near the Pantheon,
[00:03:04] [SPEAKER_05]: and they carry the most beautiful European Christmas ornaments.
[00:03:07] [SPEAKER_05]: It was very hard to decide which ones to buy because they were all so lovely.
[00:03:12] [SPEAKER_05]: I'm attaching a picture of the front of the store and also a pic of the
[00:03:15] [SPEAKER_05]: ornaments I purchased, the most notable of which is La Befana.
[00:03:19] [SPEAKER_05]: I was not leaving the shop without a La Befana ornament.
[00:03:22] [SPEAKER_05]: If you don't know the legend of La Befana, I'll give you a brief rundown.
[00:03:26] [SPEAKER_05]: In Italy on the night before the epiphany, an old witchy looking woman
[00:03:30] [SPEAKER_05]: on a broom travels around delivering little gifts or candy to children,
[00:03:33] [SPEAKER_05]: or maybe garlic to children who haven't been on their best behavior.
[00:03:37] [SPEAKER_05]: I could go over some garlic.
[00:03:39] [SPEAKER_05]: Sometimes these gifts get put into children's socks or shoes.
[00:03:42] [SPEAKER_05]: This tradition dates back to the 13th century.
[00:03:45] [SPEAKER_05]: There are a couple of stories of how this began, but I think this one,
[00:03:48] [SPEAKER_05]: which I pulled from Wikipedia, is pretty interesting.
[00:03:51] [SPEAKER_05]: The Befana spent her days cleaning and sweeping.
[00:03:53] [SPEAKER_05]: One day, the Magi came to her door in search of the baby Jesus.
[00:03:56] [SPEAKER_05]: However, she turned them away because she was too busy cleaning.
[00:04:00] [SPEAKER_05]: Priority problem there.
[00:04:01] [SPEAKER_05]: Feeling guilty, she eventually decides to find Jesus on her own
[00:04:04] [SPEAKER_05]: by following a bright light, also known as the big star in the sky,
[00:04:08] [SPEAKER_05]: which she believes helps point the way.
[00:04:10] [SPEAKER_05]: She brings along a bag filled with baked goods and gifts for Jesus
[00:04:14] [SPEAKER_05]: and a broom to help the new mother clean.
[00:04:17] [SPEAKER_05]: Unfortunately, nice gift.
[00:04:19] [SPEAKER_05]: Unfortunately, despite her best effort, she never finds them.
[00:04:22] [SPEAKER_05]: According to the telling, the Befana is still searching
[00:04:24] [SPEAKER_05]: after all these centuries for the newborn Messiah.
[00:04:27] [SPEAKER_05]: On the eve of epiphany, the Befana comes to every house
[00:04:30] [SPEAKER_05]: where there is a child leaves a gift.
[00:04:32] [SPEAKER_05]: Although she has been unsuccessful in her search,
[00:04:34] [SPEAKER_05]: she still leaves gifts for children everywhere because the Christ child
[00:04:36] [SPEAKER_05]: can be found in all children.
[00:04:38] [SPEAKER_05]: Very long, but really interesting brand.
[00:04:41] [SPEAKER_06]: That is very interesting.
[00:04:42] [SPEAKER_06]: Who knew? Who knew there was so much so much history to be found?
[00:04:47] [SPEAKER_06]: People think Christmas is just a fun time with presents.
[00:04:49] [SPEAKER_06]: And I say I say no, no, no.
[00:04:51] [SPEAKER_05]: No, no. It's brooms. It's witches. It's everything.
[00:04:53] [SPEAKER_06]: It's a good cross.
[00:04:54] [SPEAKER_06]: It's a good crossover story for Halloween, too.
[00:04:56] [SPEAKER_05]: Oh, it really is.
[00:04:57] [SPEAKER_05]: That's why I was holding it until now.
[00:04:59] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, that's right. We planned it.
[00:05:01] [SPEAKER_05]: Exactly. So thank you, Kelly.
[00:05:03] [SPEAKER_05]: I hope your trip is going well.
[00:05:04] [SPEAKER_05]: Please check in with us.
[00:05:05] [SPEAKER_05]: I have an email from Scott Carling, Scott and Brian.
[00:05:08] [SPEAKER_05]: Hello, I'm a fairly new listener from Texas.
[00:05:11] [SPEAKER_05]: I was vacationing in North Carolina and ran across
[00:05:13] [SPEAKER_05]: the Christmas cottage in Chimney Rock, North Carolina.
[00:05:17] [SPEAKER_05]: Picture attached and also one of my purchases.
[00:05:20] [SPEAKER_05]: The cottage looks very cute, Brian.
[00:05:22] [SPEAKER_05]: If I'm ever in North Carolina, which is really your neck of the woods,
[00:05:25] [SPEAKER_05]: maybe you could do a road trip there.
[00:05:27] [SPEAKER_06]: Maybe I could. I don't know.
[00:05:28] [SPEAKER_06]: Maybe maybe you come here. We go there.
[00:05:30] [SPEAKER_05]: We we can do all those things.
[00:05:31] [SPEAKER_05]: And Scott sent a picture of a mug that says it's a major award.
[00:05:35] [SPEAKER_05]: I like the mug. That's fun.
[00:05:36] [SPEAKER_06]: That is very fun.
[00:05:37] [SPEAKER_06]: I've seen a few of those.
[00:05:39] [SPEAKER_06]: It's a major award mugs.
[00:05:40] [SPEAKER_06]: And I don't know. I don't just have one already.
[00:05:42] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, I don't. I don't have one either, but I really should.
[00:05:45] [SPEAKER_05]: And finally, an email from Simon.
[00:05:47] [SPEAKER_05]: Hi, guys. I was listening to my music on Spotify
[00:05:49] [SPEAKER_05]: when I stumbled upon your Christmas podcast.
[00:05:52] [SPEAKER_05]: Listen to your podcast and loved it.
[00:05:54] [SPEAKER_05]: Can't wait for your next episode.
[00:05:55] [SPEAKER_05]: And I'm counting down the days before I can put up my tree
[00:05:58] [SPEAKER_05]: and enjoy the holiday lights in my home.
[00:06:00] [SPEAKER_05]: Your new fan from sunny South Africa, Simon.
[00:06:04] [SPEAKER_05]: Well, thank you, Simon.
[00:06:05] [SPEAKER_06]: How about that? South Africa.
[00:06:07] [SPEAKER_06]: I think I think this calls for a South Africa Christmas morning podcast tour,
[00:06:12] [SPEAKER_06]: even if it's just Simon and the crowd, I think it would be worth it.
[00:06:15] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah. So thank you, Simon, for letting us know.
[00:06:18] [SPEAKER_05]: Not only did Simon let us know that I'm assuming it's he is in sunny
[00:06:21] [SPEAKER_05]: South Africa, which is very cool, but also how he found the show,
[00:06:25] [SPEAKER_05]: which is something I always want to know.
[00:06:27] [SPEAKER_06]: I always want to know that as well.
[00:06:28] [SPEAKER_06]: So thank you so much, Simon.
[00:06:30] [SPEAKER_06]: And it's good to know that people can just stumble upon us within Spotify.
[00:06:35] [SPEAKER_06]: That's that's nice.
[00:06:37] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, I didn't know that either.
[00:06:38] [SPEAKER_05]: That was very cool. How are we doing in the review department?
[00:06:40] [SPEAKER_06]: I got bad news, Scotty.
[00:06:42] [SPEAKER_06]: Oh, I've we don't have any new ones new.
[00:06:46] [SPEAKER_06]: We don't have any new ones that I haven't read before internationally
[00:06:49] [SPEAKER_06]: from Charterball. We're out.
[00:06:51] [SPEAKER_06]: We just got nothing. I got nothing, Scotty.
[00:06:53] [SPEAKER_05]: All right. So remember before when we ran out of reviews,
[00:06:57] [SPEAKER_05]: I tried the ticking clock like as a punitive damages kind of thing.
[00:07:01] [SPEAKER_05]: Didn't work.
[00:07:02] [SPEAKER_05]: So I'm going to amp it up a little bit here, Bran.
[00:07:05] [SPEAKER_05]: OK, you know how you and I always find really terrible versions
[00:07:08] [SPEAKER_05]: of songs when we're searching on Bandcamp?
[00:07:10] [SPEAKER_06]: I do know this. This is one of the plights of this show.
[00:07:13] [SPEAKER_05]: Well, why don't I bring them for when we have no podcast reviews?
[00:07:16] [SPEAKER_05]: So here's here's Dominic the Donkey by Smear Dog and the Donut.
[00:07:37] [SPEAKER_06]: I actually didn't hate it, to be honest with you.
[00:07:40] [SPEAKER_05]: I actually kind of liked that. It was a little bit fun.
[00:07:43] [SPEAKER_05]: Smear Dog and the Donut.
[00:07:44] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, just an opportunity to get more Dominic the Donkey in our lives.
[00:07:47] [SPEAKER_05]: But please, if you can, if you have not already go
[00:07:50] [SPEAKER_05]: and leave us a review, it helps others find the show.
[00:07:53] [SPEAKER_05]: And we just want to make the morning family bigger.
[00:07:56] [SPEAKER_06]: That's right, Scotty.
[00:07:57] [SPEAKER_06]: Thank you to that weird cover
[00:08:01] [SPEAKER_06]: by Smear Dog and the Donut.
[00:08:02] [SPEAKER_06]: Smear Dog and the Donut.
[00:08:04] [SPEAKER_06]: They're out there crushing it.
[00:08:06] [SPEAKER_06]: Are you got a joke for us, Scotty?
[00:08:07] [SPEAKER_05]: I do. What did the snowman say to the dog?
[00:08:11] [SPEAKER_06]: What did the snowman say to the dog?
[00:08:13] [SPEAKER_05]: It's not a yellow snow joke either.
[00:08:15] [SPEAKER_06]: OK, that's where I was going.
[00:08:16] [SPEAKER_06]: So you just just just tell me what it is.
[00:08:18] [SPEAKER_05]: It's a hey, give me back my arms.
[00:08:20] [SPEAKER_05]: What?
[00:08:21] [SPEAKER_05]: Go work out because dogs like sticks.
[00:08:24] [SPEAKER_05]: I guess I guess.
[00:08:29] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, OK.
[00:08:30] [SPEAKER_05]: Oh, boy.
[00:08:32] [SPEAKER_05]: Your lack of enthusiasm toward the joke hurts me.
[00:08:36] [SPEAKER_05]: So let's do the countdown.
[00:08:41] [SPEAKER_06]: Hundred and five days until Christmas.
[00:08:47] [SPEAKER_05]: Oh, boy. 105, Scotty.
[00:08:51] [SPEAKER_05]: 15 weeks.
[00:08:52] [SPEAKER_05]: And I think the really exciting part is what will that be next Wednesday?
[00:08:58] [SPEAKER_05]: Is it going to be 98 days then?
[00:09:00] [SPEAKER_06]: Mm hmm. Yeah.
[00:09:02] [SPEAKER_05]: If math, math, math works, if math sticks,
[00:09:05] [SPEAKER_05]: it should be 98 days under 100.
[00:09:07] [SPEAKER_05]: That's it. It's what I've been waiting for all year.
[00:09:10] [SPEAKER_05]: So exciting.
[00:09:11] [SPEAKER_05]: That is exciting.
[00:09:12] [SPEAKER_05]: And also also exciting because obviously we're
[00:09:15] [SPEAKER_05]: really in the middle of September here.
[00:09:17] [SPEAKER_05]: It's only 20 days until October 1st.
[00:09:20] [SPEAKER_05]: Wow. Two weeks.
[00:09:22] [SPEAKER_05]: It's going to be October 1st.
[00:09:24] [SPEAKER_06]: There you go. Man, that's exciting.
[00:09:26] [SPEAKER_06]: Sure is. Man. Oh, man.
[00:09:27] [SPEAKER_06]: All right. Let's get to the news.
[00:09:33] [SPEAKER_06]: So that is Wednesday, September 11th.
[00:09:37] [SPEAKER_06]: Here's the news.
[00:09:40] [SPEAKER_06]: Scotty, this is a big deal, a big deal for a lot of people,
[00:09:44] [SPEAKER_06]: as you know, Home Alone, a classic Christmas movie.
[00:09:47] [SPEAKER_06]: Sure. A full franchise.
[00:09:50] [SPEAKER_06]: What's the first thing or first?
[00:09:52] [SPEAKER_06]: I guess I first person you think of when you think of Home Alone.
[00:09:55] [SPEAKER_06]: Marv. OK, for a lot of people, it's Sweet Sweet Kevin
[00:09:59] [SPEAKER_06]: played by of course.
[00:10:01] [SPEAKER_05]: I see where you're going with this.
[00:10:02] [SPEAKER_06]: Macaulay Culkin.
[00:10:04] [SPEAKER_06]: We love Macaulay Culkin, but Macaulay Culkin has
[00:10:07] [SPEAKER_06]: kind of been out of the public eye for quite some time now.
[00:10:12] [SPEAKER_06]: And it's kind of seemed to avoid
[00:10:15] [SPEAKER_06]: by and large the subject of Home Alone,
[00:10:19] [SPEAKER_06]: aside from a very cool commercial a couple years ago that he did,
[00:10:21] [SPEAKER_06]: which kind of made me think when this commercial popped up,
[00:10:24] [SPEAKER_06]: I was like, maybe he's coming back around to embracing Home Alone.
[00:10:29] [SPEAKER_06]: And it seems that he is indeed embracing Home Alone
[00:10:32] [SPEAKER_06]: because Macaulay Culkin is going on tour on tour
[00:10:36] [SPEAKER_06]: this holiday season, kicking off in late November.
[00:10:40] [SPEAKER_06]: It's going to be going on tour to the Home Alone,
[00:10:42] [SPEAKER_06]: a nostalgic night with Macaulay Culkin, a tour across the country
[00:10:46] [SPEAKER_06]: featuring a special screening of Home Alone, followed by a moderated
[00:10:50] [SPEAKER_06]: interview and a Q&A open to the audience.
[00:10:54] [SPEAKER_06]: And Macaulay Culkin will be there in person for this entire tour,
[00:10:58] [SPEAKER_06]: which is which is amazing.
[00:11:00] [SPEAKER_06]: And not only is it is it cool, I like the fact that he's going to a lot of
[00:11:06] [SPEAKER_06]: different cities, you know, he's starting in Redding, Pennsylvania,
[00:11:11] [SPEAKER_06]: doing Buffalo, New York, New York City, doing Akron, Ohio, sort of Cleveland,
[00:11:16] [SPEAKER_06]: doing a lot of these like more, you know, you could go to the big cities.
[00:11:20] [SPEAKER_06]: But why do that when you could go to Newark, New Jersey,
[00:11:24] [SPEAKER_06]: Wallington, Connecticut, stuff like that?
[00:11:28] [SPEAKER_06]: I like it. Wow.
[00:11:30] [SPEAKER_05]: I do like it.
[00:11:31] [SPEAKER_05]: Is this the Macaulay Culkin has run out of money tour?
[00:11:34] [SPEAKER_05]: I don't know. I don't know what to tell you.
[00:11:37] [SPEAKER_05]: I don't know. Let's just be happy that that he's embracing his role.
[00:11:41] [SPEAKER_05]: Brann, there's a series on YouTube called The Angry Video Game
[00:11:45] [SPEAKER_05]: Nerd that I liked watching.
[00:11:46] [SPEAKER_05]: He doesn't he doesn't do much anymore.
[00:11:49] [SPEAKER_05]: But, you know, the gist is obviously he plays really terrible Nintendo games.
[00:11:54] [SPEAKER_05]: And he had Macaulay Culkin on an episode in character
[00:11:58] [SPEAKER_05]: while he was playing home alone video games.
[00:12:01] [SPEAKER_05]: It was really fun. So I have seen him do stuff about that.
[00:12:04] [SPEAKER_05]: But that was a much different tone.
[00:12:06] [SPEAKER_05]: I hope this is upbeat and jovial.
[00:12:08] [SPEAKER_05]: And hey, guys in the audience, keep it clean. All right.
[00:12:10] [SPEAKER_06]: It's listen, it's the holiday season.
[00:12:11] [SPEAKER_06]: I think that this could be a really good time.
[00:12:14] [SPEAKER_06]: And if you go, please email us.
[00:12:17] [SPEAKER_06]: Let us know what it was like.
[00:12:18] [SPEAKER_06]: I would love to because I looked at the dates.
[00:12:20] [SPEAKER_06]: I don't think there's anything close enough to me
[00:12:23] [SPEAKER_06]: that would make sense for me going.

[00:17:00] [SPEAKER_06]: Listen, it's a lot.
[00:17:01] [SPEAKER_06]: It's tough out there.
[00:17:02] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, it really is.
[00:17:02] [SPEAKER_06]: It's tough out there.
[00:17:03] [SPEAKER_06]: Hey, let's get to the Christmas music battle.
[00:17:06] [SPEAKER_06]: Let's get to last week's results first.
[00:17:08] [SPEAKER_06]: Of course, it is quite the tight battle right now,
[00:17:12] [SPEAKER_06]: I must say.
[00:17:14] [SPEAKER_06]: We did, I wish it was Christmas Today,
[00:17:17] [SPEAKER_06]: the SNL classic is what we battled last week.
[00:17:20] [SPEAKER_06]: Let's get to the results in last place.
[00:17:22] [SPEAKER_06]: It's your boy, Brian, who brought version by Park in Maine.
[00:17:26] [SPEAKER_06]: Wasn't what the people wanted, Scotty.
[00:17:29] [SPEAKER_05]: I guess it wasn't.
[00:17:29] [SPEAKER_05]: I thought it was pretty good.
[00:17:30] [SPEAKER_05]: It was a different take on it.
[00:17:32] [SPEAKER_06]: 13 votes, 20 percent of the vote.
[00:17:35] [SPEAKER_06]: Not terrible.
[00:17:35] [SPEAKER_06]: Not terrible.
[00:17:36] [SPEAKER_06]: This is a very, very close battle for first, though,
[00:17:40] [SPEAKER_06]: losing by only one vote with 38.7 percent of the vote.
[00:17:44] [SPEAKER_06]: Professor Shy Guy's version, which was brought by The Listeners.
[00:17:49] [SPEAKER_05]: Brought by listener Jack Unverfirth.
[00:17:51] [SPEAKER_05]: And Brian, I love this version.
[00:17:53] [SPEAKER_05]: I voted for this one.
[00:17:54] [SPEAKER_06]: Man, you voted.
[00:17:56] [SPEAKER_06]: And even though you voted against your own song,
[00:17:59] [SPEAKER_06]: your own song did indeed win.
[00:18:01] [SPEAKER_06]: It's the version by Downstate Darlings.
[00:18:05] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, I'm shocked by this one.
[00:18:07] [SPEAKER_05]: I really thought Professor Shy Guy was going to pull it off this week.
[00:18:11] [SPEAKER_05]: One or two votes really close.
[00:18:14] [SPEAKER_05]: But I guess people like this.
[00:18:16] [SPEAKER_05]: I liked this one because it sounded like the 80s.
[00:18:18] [SPEAKER_06]: I liked it so much, Scotty, that I wanted to bring this version
[00:18:21] [SPEAKER_06]: until I saw that you were bringing it.
[00:18:24] [SPEAKER_05]: So early bird gets the worm, right?
[00:18:26] [SPEAKER_05]: I guess it is better than I remember.
[00:18:29] [SPEAKER_05]: You brought it.
[00:18:30] [SPEAKER_06]: Of course.
[00:18:30] [SPEAKER_06]: That chorus is nice.
[00:18:32] [SPEAKER_06]: It's very good.
[00:18:33] [SPEAKER_06]: Very good.
[00:18:35] [SPEAKER_06]: Let's get to the original Christmas music battle for the week,
[00:18:39] [SPEAKER_06]: which means its original song, Scotty.
[00:18:41] [SPEAKER_06]: All all found on the band camp for your listening pleasure.
[00:18:46] [SPEAKER_06]: First, we'll hold on.
[00:18:48] [SPEAKER_05]: Is.
[00:18:48] [SPEAKER_05]: Oh, I want to mention something here.
[00:18:50] [SPEAKER_05]: We normally bring Christmas music trivia, right?
[00:18:53] [SPEAKER_05]: Yes, we normally do that.
[00:18:54] [SPEAKER_05]: Yes, I'm completely out of facts.
[00:18:56] [SPEAKER_05]: I got nothing.
[00:18:57] [SPEAKER_05]: I spent 40 minutes last night looking and thinking.
[00:19:01] [SPEAKER_05]: I was like self come up with something.
[00:19:03] [SPEAKER_05]: I had nothing.
[00:19:04] [SPEAKER_05]: So unfortunately, we're out of generic facts.
[00:19:06] [SPEAKER_05]: I got nothing.
[00:19:07] [SPEAKER_06]: We're out of generic facts.
[00:19:09] [SPEAKER_06]: There's nothing we can do.
[00:19:11] [SPEAKER_05]: But you tried.
[00:19:12] [SPEAKER_05]: I did try.
[00:19:13] [SPEAKER_05]: I went down this rabbit hole.
[00:19:14] [SPEAKER_05]: I was looking at how much stars make on their Christmas songs and stuff.
[00:19:20] [SPEAKER_05]: Obviously, Mariah Carey, a lot of money there.
[00:19:22] [SPEAKER_06]: Let's see if G.P.T. gives us one.
[00:19:25] [SPEAKER_06]: Here's a fun fact about Jingle Bells.
[00:19:27] [SPEAKER_06]: It was actually written by James Lauren.
[00:19:29] [SPEAKER_06]: We've done it before.
[00:19:31] [SPEAKER_05]: It's a Thanksgiving song.
[00:19:32] [SPEAKER_05]: Yep.
[00:19:32] [SPEAKER_05]: We already know that one.
[00:19:33] [SPEAKER_05]: Give me another.
[00:19:36] [SPEAKER_05]: How about It Came Upon the Midnight Clear?
[00:19:39] [SPEAKER_06]: How about one about It Came A Midnight Clear?
[00:19:43] [SPEAKER_06]: This is good audio.
[00:19:44] [SPEAKER_06]: This is great.
[00:19:45] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, it came upon a midnight clear.
[00:19:47] [SPEAKER_06]: It's a Christmas carol with a bit of a poetic twist.
[00:19:50] [SPEAKER_06]: The lyrics were written by Edmund Hamilton Sears, a Unitarian minister in 1849.
[00:19:58] [SPEAKER_06]: It was fascinating that he wrote the carol during a time of great personal and
[00:20:01] [SPEAKER_06]: social upheaval, including the aftermath of the Mexican-American War.
[00:20:05] [SPEAKER_06]: This is all uplifting and fun.
[00:20:07] [SPEAKER_05]: Covered it in a tinsel tunes episode.
[00:20:08] [SPEAKER_05]: I suppose I could have covered that, but whatever.
[00:20:11] [SPEAKER_05]: Just what?
[00:20:12] [SPEAKER_05]: I just got nothing good.
[00:20:12] [SPEAKER_05]: So let's move on to original Christmas music.
[00:20:15] [SPEAKER_05]: Always an interesting week.
[00:20:17] [SPEAKER_06]: It is an interesting week because anything goes.
[00:20:20] [SPEAKER_06]: It just has to be an original song.
[00:20:22] [SPEAKER_06]: It doesn't matter the style.
[00:20:23] [SPEAKER_06]: It doesn't matter what it's about as long as it's about Christmas.
[00:20:26] [SPEAKER_06]: First, we got Christmas Times a Comin' by Buck Owens.
[00:20:30] [SPEAKER_00]: Well, they're gonna be a big fat turkey.
[00:20:33] [SPEAKER_00]: They're gonna be gravy and dressing.
[00:20:36] [SPEAKER_00]: They're gonna be chicken and dumplings.
[00:20:39] [SPEAKER_00]: Christmas times are coming.
[00:20:42] [SPEAKER_00]: They're gonna be lots of sweets, sweets.
[00:20:45] [SPEAKER_00]: Minced meat, peach and pumpkin.
[00:20:47] [SPEAKER_00]: Ain't that are gonna be something?
[00:20:50] [SPEAKER_00]: Christmas times are coming.
[00:20:53] [SPEAKER_00]: That's they're gonna be a sleigh ride.
[00:20:56] [SPEAKER_00]: Everybody's gonna go.
[00:20:58] [SPEAKER_00]: We'll sing Christmas carols as we ride through the snow.
[00:21:04] [SPEAKER_00]: We're gonna call up the neighbors and tell them to come running.
[00:21:09] [SPEAKER_00]: Well, ain't that are gonna be something?
[00:21:13] [SPEAKER_00]: Christmas times are coming.
[00:21:16] [SPEAKER_05]: Brian, I don't know if you know this,
[00:21:18] [SPEAKER_05]: but Christmas times are coming.
[00:21:20] [SPEAKER_06]: Christmas times are coming.
[00:21:21] [SPEAKER_05]: Listen, it sounds great.
[00:21:23] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, Buck Owens sounds like he's probably somebody
[00:21:26] [SPEAKER_05]: that was pretty famous back in the day,
[00:21:28] [SPEAKER_05]: but it was on Bandcamp so it counts.
[00:21:30] [SPEAKER_06]: Our hands are tied.
[00:21:31] [SPEAKER_06]: If it's on Bandcamp, our hands are tied.
[00:21:34] [SPEAKER_06]: Let's get to the second song.
[00:21:35] [SPEAKER_06]: It's by The Royal Halls,
[00:21:38] [SPEAKER_06]: and the song is called Carry Us Another Year.
[00:22:40] [SPEAKER_05]: Well, that had a late 90s, early 2000s vibe to it.
[00:22:43] [SPEAKER_05]: That was great.
[00:22:44] [SPEAKER_06]: I liked it. It was very nice.
[00:22:46] [SPEAKER_06]: Up next and last, we have This Christmas Kissed by Hexarchy.
[00:22:54] [SPEAKER_02]: Go home in December,
[00:22:56] [SPEAKER_02]: dancing with you, thinking that's to remember.
[00:23:00] [SPEAKER_02]: The snow falling down, I'm discovering this weather.
[00:23:05] [SPEAKER_02]: I beg you for two, cause we're all together.
[00:23:09] [SPEAKER_02]: But soon the turtle dumps the cards.
[00:23:13] [SPEAKER_04]: We fall in love, it's my favorite Christmas.
[00:23:25] [SPEAKER_04]: This Christmas, I love Christmas.
[00:23:30] [SPEAKER_04]: I can't resist, I can't resist.
[00:23:44] [SPEAKER_05]: Well, I know which one I like the best,
[00:23:45] [SPEAKER_05]: but I don't want to taint the voting.
[00:23:46] [SPEAKER_05]: So follow the link in the show notes
[00:23:48] [SPEAKER_05]: and vote, vote, vote right now, please.
[00:23:50] [SPEAKER_06]: Vote, vote, vote indeed, Scotty.
[00:23:53] [SPEAKER_06]: Next week...
[00:23:55] [SPEAKER_05]: You always shortchange the listeners
[00:23:57] [SPEAKER_05]: who take the time to write in and send us songs.
[00:24:00] [SPEAKER_05]: We got listener submissions this week from Adrian Freeland,
[00:24:04] [SPEAKER_05]: Jessica Trinidad, Lance Garman, and Jack Unverfirth.
[00:24:06] [SPEAKER_05]: Thank you all for submitting.
[00:24:08] [SPEAKER_05]: We couldn't do this without you.
[00:24:09] [SPEAKER_06]: We literally couldn't and it would just be us kind of hanging out.
[00:24:12] [SPEAKER_06]: Nope.
[00:24:12] [SPEAKER_06]: No one wants that.
[00:24:15] [SPEAKER_06]: Let's get to next week's battle, Scotty.
[00:24:17] [SPEAKER_06]: It is the instrumental Christmas song week.
[00:24:21] [SPEAKER_06]: My favorite.
[00:24:21] [SPEAKER_06]: I'm very excited about it as am I.
[00:24:23] [SPEAKER_05]: You know what?
[00:24:23] [SPEAKER_05]: I actually got my family to listen
[00:24:26] [SPEAKER_05]: to Christmas music in the car yesterday.
[00:24:28] [SPEAKER_05]: I put on the Christmas cocktail jazz playlist on Spotify
[00:24:32] [SPEAKER_05]: and nobody said boo.
[00:24:34] [SPEAKER_06]: Well, there you go.
[00:24:35] [SPEAKER_06]: That's all you can hope for really.
[00:24:36] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, I've tried it other times in the year
[00:24:38] [SPEAKER_05]: and they've well said boo.
[00:24:40] [SPEAKER_06]: This time, no boo.
[00:24:41] [SPEAKER_06]: I love that you have a daughter who is classy enough to not boo jazz.
[00:24:47] [SPEAKER_05]: No, she actually likes jazz.
[00:24:49] [SPEAKER_05]: We listen to jazz while we play chess downstairs.
[00:24:51] [SPEAKER_05]: Look at you guys.
[00:24:52] [SPEAKER_05]: She's a John Coltrane fan.
[00:24:53] [SPEAKER_05]: How about that?

[00:25:07] [SPEAKER_06]: We're very excited about that.
[00:25:09] [SPEAKER_05]: Start thinking about the Christmas party episode, too.
[00:25:11] [SPEAKER_06]: That's right.
[00:25:12] [SPEAKER_06]: We need your stuff.
