[00:00:02] This is a Bramble Jam Podcast
[00:00:04] I'm from the North Pole, it's time for Christmas Morning
[00:00:17] The daily show where every day is Christmas
[00:00:21] Here are your hosts, Bran and...
[00:00:33] Well, well, well, hello everybody and welcome to another episode of Christmas Morning
[00:00:38] It's Bran and I am here of course with Scott Scott
[00:00:41] Merry Christmas
[00:00:42] Merry Christmas buddy, how are you?
[00:00:45] Good, it sounded like I just let out a little toot
[00:00:48] But it's not a toot, it was just my microphone and I wanted that on the record everybody
[00:00:52] Okay
[00:00:53] We're professional here at the North Pole
[00:00:55] That's right, Bran, we're in the thick of it, it's Christmas buddy
[00:00:58] This is it, this is it, I mean it's it like in the sense that once one channel says it's Christmas, it's Christmas, right?
[00:01:06] So Hallmark's saying it's Christmas this weekend, it makes it okay for us as Christmas lovers to be like
[00:01:12] See, Hallmark's doing it
[00:01:13] So it makes it okay, I think
[00:01:16] Yeah, I consider it external validation
[00:01:18] That's right, external validation, that's exactly right
[00:01:21] Hey, we've got so much to get to today, can we get right into the mailbag?
[00:01:25] Please, please, let's go, let's go!
[00:01:26] Letters, we get letters
[00:01:28] We get stacks and stacks of letters
[00:01:33] So not only is the Christmas in the store picking up, the Christmas on the television picking up, well, the Christmas in the mailbag is picking up too
[00:01:41] We have so many emails I want to read today
[00:01:43] The first is from Joe Fulton
[00:01:44] Joe is the Christmas aficionado, but this was sent from Joe, not from the Christmas aficionado
[00:01:49] Our hands are tied, we call him what he wants to be called
[00:01:52] Joe says, Saturday, October 12th was the release of the second wave of Hallmark ornaments
[00:01:57] I wasn't even aware there was a first wave, I mean, yes, it makes sense there was
[00:02:00] What I mean, Brian, is I haven't been over there
[00:02:03] Yeah
[00:02:03] It's not convenient to go to the Hallmark store, and I just have not made it a priority yet
[00:02:08] I'm so ashamed
[00:02:09] Do you know what I found out about Hallmark stores?
[00:02:11] Is that they all, like, when you own a store, you get to put your name on it
[00:02:16] Oh, yeah, yeah, like Joanne's Hallmark, yeah
[00:02:19] Yes, there's like, so there's like three in this area, and they're all owned by somebody different
[00:02:24] And I'm like, oh, that's interesting
[00:02:25] You think we should start a GoFundMe so we can have Brian's Hallmark?
[00:02:28] That would be fantastic
[00:02:29] I think we should call it Christmas Morning's a Hallmark store
[00:02:32] The pluralization's a little weird, but we'll figure it out
[00:02:34] It's a business expense, though
[00:02:36] Joe says I grabbed several pop culture ornaments, including Voltron, Cad Bane from the Book of Boba Fett
[00:02:41] It's the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown, Obi-Wan Kenobi facing off with Darth Vader
[00:02:46] And Batman and Robin scaling the wall from the old Adam West Batman TV series
[00:02:50] I also picked up an ornament for Mrs. Aficionado, who hinted she liked the Mickey and Minnie tree ornament
[00:02:56] When I arrived at the store, I was greeted by this amazing cardboard advertisement for Hallmark Plus
[00:03:01] Featuring the queen herself, Lacey Chabert
[00:03:04] It's getting real, gentlemen
[00:03:06] Christmas is here
[00:03:07] Brian, I'm not going to belabor the point, but I would like to have this cardboard cutout
[00:03:14] We're going to move on
[00:03:16] We've been told by everyone that you're not allowed to talk about Lacey Chabert
[00:03:20] So we're going to move on
[00:03:22] And I just know what I'm getting you for Christmas now
[00:03:25] So it's great
[00:03:26] Yeah, this would be great
[00:03:27] I'm going to post this photo to our Instagram here
[00:03:30] I don't know if this is a life-size Lacey
[00:03:33] I thought Lacey was pretty short
[00:03:35] Yeah
[00:03:36] But I don't
[00:03:37] You think they made her taller on the cardboard cutout?
[00:03:40] Well, maybe there's like a six-inch thing at the bottom
[00:03:42] You know, where the stand is or something
[00:03:45] I don't know
[00:03:45] But oh, to have one of these
[00:03:50] We're just going to leave that where it is
[00:03:54] Oh, I hate it
[00:03:56] I hate it when you do this
[00:03:57] An email from Brianne Cummings
[00:03:59] Brianne says
[00:03:59] Hello, Brianne, Scott, Shannon, and all of my morning people
[00:04:02] I was very excited at the news of Spirit Christmas
[00:04:05] Which was discussed on this week's podcast episode
[00:04:08] I didn't realize it was only going to be 10 Spirit Halloweens
[00:04:11] That will be transformed into Spirit Christmas
[00:04:13] I had to find out where these glorious stores will be located
[00:04:17] I am very excited to share that my local Spirit Halloween
[00:04:20] Will be transformed into Spirit Christmas
[00:04:24] Wow
[00:04:24] I will be visiting when it switches
[00:04:26] And I will share my experience with you all
[00:04:29] Can't wait, Brianne
[00:04:30] That's awesome
[00:04:30] I hope there's a video
[00:04:32] To be so lucky
[00:04:33] To be so lucky
[00:04:34] Maybe someone will FaceTime me from it
[00:04:36] That would be fantastic
[00:04:38] Imagine knowing that it's only going to be 10
[00:04:40] And you Google it
[00:04:40] And you're one of the 10
[00:04:41] And you're one of them
[00:04:42] Yeah, it's like Wonka's golden ticket there or something
[00:04:45] You should play the lottery
[00:04:46] You should go ahead and buy a lottery ticket, Brianne
[00:04:48] It doesn't get much luckier than that
[00:04:49] I've got an email from Fred
[00:04:51] It's now October
[00:04:52] And since you're planning on doing a Halloween evening episode or two
[00:04:55] Let's go with episode
[00:04:56] That's right
[00:04:57] I can finally make sense of it counting down to October 1st
[00:04:59] I'm catching up on the last few episodes
[00:05:01] As I'm searching for tickets for
[00:05:03] Nightmare Before Christmas Light Trail exhibit
[00:05:06] Yes
[00:05:06] At the New York Botanical Gardens
[00:05:07] And the stories of Christmas decorations peeking through its doors
[00:05:11] Reminded me of the original inspiration of the film
[00:05:14] Tim Burton first had the idea when he saw a department store window
[00:05:17] Being changed out from Halloween to Christmas
[00:05:19] And he got a view of the transition in between
[00:05:22] Then when he was an animator at Disney
[00:05:24] He pitched the idea as a TV special
[00:05:26] Like the Rankin-Bass Christmas specials
[00:05:28] Which of course is where the idea to put it in stop motion animation came from
[00:05:32] When Disney rejected the idea
[00:05:33] He wrote it as a rhyming poem and children's book
[00:05:36] Taking inspiration from Dr. Seuss
[00:05:38] And the Nightmare Before Christmas
[00:05:40] And then of course years later
[00:05:42] When he became a success as a director
[00:05:44] He came back to Disney to produce it as a feature film
[00:05:47] Anyway just a nice bit of Halloween Christmas trivia
[00:05:49] That I was reminded of when listening
[00:05:51] I'm a Halloween man at heart
[00:05:52] I'll be celebrating my anniversary on October 28th
[00:05:55] We always make elaborate homemade costumes
[00:05:58] And I might be your only listener that has a Shudder subscription
[00:06:01] Despite what DTH has reviewed
[00:06:03] There are good Christmas horror movies
[00:06:05] I'm sure
[00:06:06] But I also love Christmas and the whole Burr month season
[00:06:08] And appreciate some weekly Christmas even in October
[00:06:11] Thank you Fred that's really cool
[00:06:12] Fred I gotta know
[00:06:13] Did you go and venture out to see Terrifier 3 in theaters
[00:06:17] A movie so intense that they have warnings on the outside
[00:06:23] Of the individual theaters
[00:06:24] Like hey this might mess you up
[00:06:27] Just a warning
[00:06:29] And it's apparently Christmassy
[00:06:32] So I have also
[00:06:33] I'm not huge on the gore
[00:06:36] But I'm tempted to see the movie
[00:06:37] One because someone's telling me not to
[00:06:40] The theater
[00:06:41] And two
[00:06:41] It's Christmassy
[00:06:43] So I don't know
[00:06:43] We'll see
[00:06:44] I will lead the band of people
[00:06:45] That will wait in the parking lot
[00:06:47] Because I don't want anything to do
[00:06:48] With those scary movies
[00:06:50] I accidentally saw The Ring
[00:06:51] 20 some odd years ago
[00:06:52] And I'm still messed up from it
[00:06:54] I hate when I accidentally see a movie
[00:06:56] It's the worst
[00:06:56] I got an email from Chris Davies
[00:06:58] Chris says
[00:06:58] Another Christmas decor email
[00:07:00] This time about these prismatic yard decor
[00:07:03] That Sam's Club sells
[00:07:04] Prismatic
[00:07:05] Apparently these have been around since last year
[00:07:07] But they're new to me
[00:07:08] Whoa
[00:07:08] Well I don't think they match my outdoor decor style
[00:07:11] They're pretty wild
[00:07:12] And even look impressive in user review pictures
[00:07:15] Bray and I saw these
[00:07:16] And it's one of those things where you look at it and say
[00:07:18] Oh that's really cool
[00:07:19] I don't really want it for myself
[00:07:21] But I'm glad it exists
[00:07:23] It's very pretty
[00:07:24] It looks like Elsa made it from Frozen
[00:07:28] Like she came to your yard and went
[00:07:29] Bam
[00:07:30] I'll post the photo
[00:07:31] I don't really know how to describe it
[00:07:33] Just imagine some kind of like clear plastic
[00:07:35] That is like
[00:07:36] It looks like ice
[00:07:37] Luminescent
[00:07:38] Yeah
[00:07:38] It is really cool
[00:07:39] Not my style
[00:07:40] But neat
[00:07:41] It is cool
[00:07:42] Chris says
[00:07:43] Another interesting Sam's Club decor
[00:07:44] Is this Christmas countdown sign
[00:07:46] I'm not a huge fan of the
[00:07:48] Santa comes in text
[00:07:50] But it's pretty cool either way
[00:07:52] So it's a digital sign
[00:07:53] And it says
[00:07:54] Santa comes in
[00:07:56] Blank days
[00:07:57] Yeah
[00:07:57] I like
[00:07:58] I think it looks cool
[00:07:59] I need to get a digital sign for my yard
[00:08:01] This is my big takeaway
[00:08:02] Because I like that it glows
[00:08:04] I like that you'd be able to see it at nighttime
[00:08:06] I think it's cool
[00:08:07] I agree
[00:08:08] I think I would rather just have a standard like
[00:08:11] Countdown to Christmas
[00:08:11] Instead of like the Santa comes in
[00:08:13] But
[00:08:13] Yeah exactly
[00:08:14] Beggies can't be choosies
[00:08:15] You know what I mean
[00:08:16] Beggies can't be choosies
[00:08:17] That's right
[00:08:17] Also
[00:08:18] Just a quick appreciation for Lenora Gilbert
[00:08:21] Her submissions to the podcast
[00:08:23] Are always super interesting
[00:08:25] And well put together
[00:08:26] I totally agree on that one
[00:08:28] Lenora is phenomenal
[00:08:29] Her contributions are great for the podcast
[00:08:31] And motivate me to try to help out as well
[00:08:34] Well thank you for the shout out for Lenora
[00:08:36] I love that
[00:08:37] Lenora is the best
[00:08:39] We love her so much
[00:08:40] Lenora inspires me too
[00:08:41] Yeah
[00:08:41] So you're not alone
[00:08:42] Yep
[00:08:43] Her audio clips just arrived
[00:08:45] They're already produced
[00:08:46] They're everything
[00:08:47] She is the best
[00:08:48] I got an email from Lance Garman
[00:08:50] Lance says
[00:08:50] I love the new Christmas morning hat
[00:08:53] But it's not cold enough to wear it yet
[00:08:55] I've been modeling it on random things around the house for now
[00:08:58] Like a watermelon
[00:08:59] And I have a photo of the Christmas morning person hat
[00:09:02] On a watermelon
[00:09:03] And I have to admit Bran
[00:09:05] I like this
[00:09:06] Yeah
[00:09:07] I like it too
[00:09:08] That hat I think is meant for watermelons and
[00:09:13] Produce of all kinds
[00:09:14] Yes
[00:09:15] Really wherever you want to put it
[00:09:17] Gores
[00:09:17] Sure
[00:09:19] Lance sent a follow-up email
[00:09:20] To say that the possibilities are endless
[00:09:22] And he's got it on like a glass bottle or something here
[00:09:25] But what stands out to me in this second photo that I'll post Bran
[00:09:29] Are all of these General Mills Halloween cereal coffee mugs
[00:09:33] These are awesome
[00:09:35] I know I saw those
[00:09:36] That's crazy
[00:09:37] Yeah
[00:09:38] Those are very cool
[00:09:38] I saw it with a cereal podcast called Cereal Killers
[00:09:41] And they would love to have these
[00:09:43] So I sent this over to them and said
[00:09:45] You gotta get these
[00:09:46] I want the Frankenberry or the Booberry mug
[00:09:49] That would be so cool
[00:09:50] It's very cool
[00:09:51] And if you want to get yourself a cool hat
[00:09:54] Like a Christmas morning hat
[00:09:55] Or a cardigan or a sticker
[00:09:57] Christmasmorningpodcast.com
[00:09:58] Email from Simon
[00:10:00] Simon says
[00:10:00] How's it guys?
[00:10:01] That's actually what it says
[00:10:02] I think that's a South African thing
[00:10:04] How's it?
[00:10:04] I thought I'd send a quick email
[00:10:06] I was in the beautiful mother city of Cape Town
[00:10:08] And thought I'd catch a movie at the world famous V&A Waterfront
[00:10:12] And as I entered the shopping mall I saw this
[00:10:15] It's not Christmas related
[00:10:16] But it gives off Christmas ornament that's made with tinsel vibes
[00:10:20] From back in the day
[00:10:21] A little backstory about the Cape Town sign
[00:10:23] It's an art installation on the harbor
[00:10:26] Where the V&A Waterfront is located
[00:10:28] Where there are shops, restaurants, and art
[00:10:31] And this is one of them
[00:10:32] Also I'm in such a good mood
[00:10:33] I'm going to set up my tree this weekend
[00:10:35] And do my first Halloween tree
[00:10:37] Simon says
[00:10:38] Only light my govy Christmas lights
[00:10:41] I'm not sure what that is, Simon
[00:10:42] So please give us more information on that
[00:10:44] Have a great day
[00:10:45] Oh, I know what this is
[00:10:47] From sunny South Africa
[00:10:47] Okay, what is it?
[00:10:48] I've seen these lights
[00:10:50] They're lights that you can control with an app
[00:10:52] Oh, okay
[00:10:53] I've gotten ads for them
[00:10:54] So it's like, you know
[00:10:55] You get to do all sorts of cool designs and stuff
[00:10:57] Oh, I love that
[00:10:58] So you can do like
[00:10:58] Put them on a tree
[00:10:59] And you can make them Halloween-y
[00:11:01] And then come November 1st
[00:11:03] You can make them Christmas-y
[00:11:04] Without having to like change the lights
[00:11:05] And you know what?
[00:11:07] If I'm wrong
[00:11:08] Then it wouldn't be the first time
[00:11:09] So Simon's probably listening to me like
[00:11:11] What is he talking about?
[00:11:13] Now that you're saying it
[00:11:14] It sounds kind of familiar
[00:11:15] So I don't know
[00:11:16] We'll have to see
[00:11:18] And that's our last email today
[00:11:19] Ooh, that was a lot of them
[00:11:20] But so much fun
[00:11:21] People are really in the spirit, Brian
[00:11:23] You know who's not in the spirit?
[00:11:24] What's that?
[00:11:25] This turd who wrote a review for us here
[00:11:27] No, no, no, no, no, no
[00:11:29] I think there's been a lot of suspicion
[00:11:31] That Brian only reads positive reviews
[00:11:34] And it is true
[00:11:35] Because that's all that we've gotten
[00:11:37] Up until this point
[00:11:39] And we also don't have any other reviews to read
[00:11:42] And so I'm going to read
[00:11:43] This three-star review
[00:11:45] Which, hey, thank you
[00:11:46] For the three stars
[00:11:47] Could have been one
[00:11:49] Could have been none
[00:11:49] From C. Joe Apple
[00:11:53] That left a review from Canada
[00:11:54] And this is not very Canadian of this person
[00:11:56] But they say
[00:11:58] Whip
[00:11:59] Which I guess is like
[00:12:00] Oh, here we go
[00:12:01] Sometimes it's funny
[00:12:03] Often
[00:12:04] It's pure craps
[00:12:05] And
[00:12:06] To C. Joe Apple's defense
[00:12:08] Not entirely wrong
[00:12:10] No, no, not wrong at all
[00:12:12] Sometimes we are funny
[00:12:13] Sometimes
[00:12:14] We're pure craps
[00:12:15] So it's tough
[00:12:16] But
[00:12:16] There you go
[00:12:17] I don't only read five-star reviews
[00:12:20] It's just up until this point
[00:12:21] I mean
[00:12:22] When you're perfect
[00:12:23] Like we are
[00:12:24] It's tough to
[00:12:25] It's tough to
[00:12:26] Have anything
[00:12:26] Other than five-star reviews
[00:12:28] But if you want to
[00:12:29] Defend our honor
[00:12:30] And you want to continue
[00:12:32] To leave five-star reviews
[00:12:33] To combat
[00:12:34] The three-star review
[00:12:36] Of the pure craps
[00:12:37] Please leave a review
[00:12:39] Apple Podcasts
[00:12:39] That'd be wonderful
[00:12:40] Brandon, I got a joke for you
[00:12:41] If you want one
[00:12:42] Tell me, please
[00:12:43] Okay
[00:12:43] Why did the reindeer
[00:12:45] Go to the orthodontist?
[00:12:47] Uh
[00:12:49] What's an orthodontist?
[00:12:50] It's the person
[00:12:51] Who puts braces
[00:12:52] On your face
[00:12:52] Okay, yeah
[00:12:53] See, clearly
[00:12:54] I didn't know
[00:12:54] I haven't had them
[00:12:55] And it shows
[00:12:55] Yeah, the best jokes
[00:12:56] Have to be explained
[00:12:57] I am gonna go with
[00:13:00] To help them brace
[00:13:02] For landing
[00:13:02] No, he had buck teeth
[00:13:05] Waka waka
[00:13:06] That's tough
[00:13:08] Uh
[00:13:09] We're doing well
[00:13:10] Yeah
[00:13:10] Yeah
[00:13:12] We'll see the camera
[00:13:19] 70 days until Christmas
[00:13:23] A nice round number, Scotty
[00:13:25] It's really sneaking up on us here
[00:13:28] It really is
[00:13:28] It really is
[00:13:29] 70
[00:13:30] I was really excited
[00:13:31] For it to be under 100
[00:13:32] Now I'm panicking a little bit
[00:13:34] I know
[00:13:34] You're like
[00:13:35] Can we go back?
[00:13:36] Can we go back?
[00:13:36] I just want to hover at 99
[00:13:38] For like a month
[00:13:39] That would be great
[00:13:40] The good old days
[00:13:40] When we were close to 100
[00:13:42] The good old days
[00:13:43] You know what's going on
[00:13:44] Back in Denver this week
[00:13:45] What?
[00:13:46] Snow is in the forecast
[00:13:47] For Saturday
[00:13:47] Really?
[00:13:48] It's probably not gonna happen
[00:13:49] It said rain, snow
[00:13:50] But the thing is
[00:13:51] On the Weather Channel
[00:13:52] There was a snow icon
[00:13:53] And a raindrop icon
[00:13:54] For Saturday
[00:13:56] I'll take it
[00:13:57] Like my daughter said
[00:13:58] I wanna see one flake
[00:13:59] That's all I need
[00:14:01] I need to see one flake
[00:14:03] It's pretty early though
[00:14:04] Even for you guys, right?
[00:14:05] No, it's actually
[00:14:06] Getting pretty late
[00:14:07] Oh really?
[00:14:08] October 18th
[00:14:09] Is around the average first
[00:14:10] Alright, well
[00:14:11] Here we go
[00:14:12] We're right there
[00:14:12] I got some news
[00:14:13] If you want it
[00:14:14] Yeah, please
[00:14:20] Today is October 16th
[00:14:23] Here's the news
[00:14:24] Uh, Scott's Today's News
[00:14:27] Is one that I thought
[00:14:29] Did you say Scott's Today's News?
[00:14:30] I did
[00:14:30] Scott's Today's News
[00:14:32] Scott's Today's News
[00:14:32] Scott's Today's News
[00:14:33] Scott's Today's News
[00:14:33] I like it
[00:14:34] Scott's Today's News
[00:14:34] I thought about holding this one
[00:14:37] Until we get to daily
[00:14:38] But I know that there are people out there
[00:14:41] That are more organized than I am
[00:14:43] And that might appreciate this bit of news
[00:14:46] In October rather than in mid-November
[00:14:49] This will appeal to some of our listeners
[00:14:52] Yes
[00:14:52] Uh, the United States Postal Service
[00:14:56] Also known as the USPS
[00:14:57] Has made an announcement
[00:14:59] With their news release
[00:15:01] That was shared on October 8th
[00:15:03] That if you are wanting to get your presents to your loved ones
[00:15:08] In time for Christmas
[00:15:09] The final day to send out that stuff
[00:15:14] For a ground advantage
[00:15:17] And first class mailings
[00:15:19] Must be sent by December 18th
[00:15:20] But priority mail must be completed by December 19th
[00:15:23] And priority mail express must be done by the 21st
[00:15:28] So you can decide how reckless do you want to be here
[00:15:33] And pay for it
[00:15:34] You know, you'll have to pay more for that priority mail express
[00:15:37] But it's possible to scoot on in the week of Christmas
[00:15:41] And get your stuff to your loved ones in that time
[00:15:44] But if you want to be safe
[00:15:46] The 18th seems like a safe bet
[00:15:48] And this is helpful for people, I suppose
[00:15:51] That send, uh, stuff
[00:15:53] Most of my family now lives in this area
[00:15:55] But we do have to ship some stuff
[00:15:56] To a family that isn't here
[00:15:58] And it's always good to know
[00:15:59] Hey, like, when do I gotta do this?
[00:16:01] And so, now you know
[00:16:03] Yeah, shipping is never a pleasant experience
[00:16:05] No, it's not
[00:16:07] You know, we have community mailboxes in Denver
[00:16:09] So you have to walk down to it
[00:16:11] And there's a little slot for outgoing mail
[00:16:14] And sometimes if you have a small enough package
[00:16:17] Like the size of a book
[00:16:18] In your mailbox slot
[00:16:20] With a note that says
[00:16:20] Please, outgoing
[00:16:22] And hope for the best
[00:16:23] But this week
[00:16:24] I had to go ship some clocks
[00:16:26] That I made to a friend of mine
[00:16:27] Because that's what I like
[00:16:29] Woodworking in my spare time
[00:16:30] And I had to go to the post office
[00:16:32] The line is always out the door there
[00:16:34] I don't understand what's going on
[00:16:35] I've gone to Busch Gardens
[00:16:36] And waited in shorter line
[00:16:38] All I had to do was, uh, you know
[00:16:40] Walk in and put it on the little cart
[00:16:42] But then I felt bad
[00:16:43] Like somebody was gonna yell at me
[00:16:44] That I was skipping the line
[00:16:46] And I'm like, no, I already paid for the postage online, buddy
[00:16:49] And it just, I don't know
[00:16:50] It fills me with anxiety
[00:16:51] I don't like it
[00:16:52] You're doing great, buddy
[00:16:54] You're doing great
[00:16:55] That was good
[00:16:56] It's good to get that stuff off your chest
[00:16:58] And I encourage you
[00:17:00] Therapy's a wonderful thing
[00:17:01] And I think it's really good
[00:17:03] Yeah, betterhelp.com
[00:17:03] That's right
[00:17:03] But I, you know what
[00:17:05] Can I talk about how dumb the names are
[00:17:06] Of the different ways that you can ship
[00:17:09] There's Ground Advantage
[00:17:11] Which I, advantage makes it seem like
[00:17:14] This would be a good thing
[00:17:15] But Advantage is actually the least you can do here
[00:17:18] And then First Class
[00:17:19] Which in every other form of, like, transportation
[00:17:23] Is the best
[00:17:24] But it's not
[00:17:24] It's right down there with Ground Advantage
[00:17:26] And then you've got Priority Mail
[00:17:29] Which does sound impressive
[00:17:30] But not as impressive as Priority Mail Express
[00:17:33] And it just seems like First Class
[00:17:35] Should be somewhere in between those two
[00:17:37] Is all I'm saying
[00:17:37] Yeah, the other problem I have with the names
[00:17:40] Is they all make them sound expensive
[00:17:42] And anytime I ship something
[00:17:43] It's more expensive than I expect
[00:17:44] So I'm looking
[00:17:45] It leaves me looking for the cheaper option
[00:17:47] Like, do you have Pony Express?
[00:17:49] I'll do that
[00:17:50] I don't care if it takes two weeks to get there
[00:17:52] Yeah, I always go in
[00:17:53] And I say, what's the cheapest way
[00:17:55] For me to get this by Christmas
[00:17:57] And then they always say, you know
[00:17:58] Whatever
[00:17:59] Zoopy Zoopies, fun time
[00:18:01] And then I say, how much is that going to cost?
[00:18:02] And they say a number
[00:18:03] And it could be any number
[00:18:04] I don't know
[00:18:05] I don't know what a good price for shipping is
[00:18:07] They could say any number
[00:18:08] And I would be like, okay
[00:18:11] Fine
[00:18:11] Oh, to bring this back around to Christmas
[00:18:13] We have two incoming international packages
[00:18:17] So one is coming from Jill in the UK
[00:18:19] And her son Xavier
[00:18:20] Looking forward to that
[00:18:21] And then I got an email from Jimmy Erickson
[00:18:24] Who sent us Yulskum
[00:18:26] Yeah
[00:18:26] The candy
[00:18:27] It's on its way
[00:18:29] Wow
[00:18:29] So as soon as it gets to me
[00:18:30] I will portion it up or whatever
[00:18:32] And get some to you
[00:18:33] And we'll try it live on one of our episodes
[00:18:35] Okay
[00:18:35] That's very exciting
[00:18:36] I can't wait for that
[00:18:37] We'll do a, you know
[00:18:38] Party episode
[00:18:39] Or maybe to kick off the holiday season
[00:18:41] November 1st
[00:18:42] Something like that
[00:18:42] We're still waiting
[00:18:44] Still on the lookout
[00:18:45] If somebody wants to send us a fun advent calendar
[00:18:48] To do
[00:18:48] We still have time obviously for that
[00:18:50] But that was a fun addition last holiday season
[00:18:52] Oh, it was so much fun
[00:18:53] And I'm not really even into comics
[00:18:55] And it was awesome
[00:18:55] I know
[00:18:56] That's what I'm saying
[00:18:57] That was just how much fun we have with advent calendars
[00:19:00] There's a Christmas story advent calendar at Costco
[00:19:03] That looks so good
[00:19:04] I wonder if there's an Orlando Magic advent calendar out there
[00:19:08] Somebody, if you want to do the Lord's work
[00:19:09] And find out
[00:19:10] I'll 3D print you something
[00:19:11] I would love that
[00:19:12] I'd love that
[00:19:13] Hey, let's take a quick break
[00:19:14] So that we can get back
[00:19:15] The TV specials are bursting at the seams
[00:19:18] Almost literally here
[00:19:19] Let's do it
[00:19:20] We'll be right back here on Christmas Morning
[00:19:25] We're back
[00:19:26] Hello everybody
[00:19:27] Welcome back to Christmas Morning
[00:19:28] It's Brian
[00:19:29] Scotty
[00:19:29] Oh, sorry
[00:19:30] TV Scotty
[00:19:31] And you've got a little swagger to your step today
[00:19:34] Okay, Brian
[00:19:34] We have so many TV listings
[00:19:37] Because Hallmark's kicking off Christmas this weekend
[00:19:40] Woo
[00:19:40] Which is pretty great
[00:19:41] It's happening, everyone
[00:19:42] Now, normally
[00:19:43] We just read the new ones
[00:19:45] And we will do that in the future
[00:19:46] But I thought, since this is the first weekend
[00:19:49] I should just read through Sunday
[00:19:51] You know, just read all of them
[00:19:52] Give everybody this overwhelming feeling of Christmas
[00:19:55] Does that work for you?
[00:19:56] I like that
[00:19:57] It'll make us feel like it's really here
[00:19:58] Oh, yeah
[00:19:59] Well, brew up a pot of coffee and pull up a chair
[00:20:01] Because it's going to take a little bit here
[00:20:03] Love it

[00:23:04] Seriously, we're going to be here in another two minutes.
[00:23:06] This is way too much.
[00:23:07] This was not a good idea by TV Scotty.
[00:23:10] TV Scotty would like to apologize for this travesty.
[00:23:13] I mean, this just goes on and on.
[00:23:15] I love that you started with this will fill people with such joy.
[00:23:20] And then you.
[00:23:21] I'm out of joy.
[00:23:22] I completely ran out of joy.
[00:23:24] I'm all out of joy to give right now.
[00:23:26] So go to Hallmark and Hallmark Mysteries starting on Friday.
[00:23:29] You're going to be happy.
[00:23:30] Just turn it on and smile.
[00:23:31] Who cares what it is?
[00:23:32] And those are your Christmas TV specials, some of them, for the next few days, courtesy of
[00:23:36] MostlyChristmas.com.
[00:23:37] Yes.
[00:23:38] For what it's worth.
[00:23:39] I tried, Bran.
[00:23:40] I really tried.
[00:23:41] And then I just had to bail at a bad idea.
[00:23:43] You did a great job.
[00:23:44] Sometimes you have to cut bait.
[00:23:45] That's right.
[00:23:46] Let's get to the Christmas music battle.
[00:23:48] Let's get to last week's results first, which was the original Christmas music battle.
[00:23:55] And last place was my baby looks a lot like Santa.
[00:24:00] My baby looks a lot like Santa Claus.
[00:24:02] I like this song.
[00:24:03] I thought it was so much fun.
[00:24:05] I did, too.
[00:24:06] I liked it, too.
[00:24:07] But it's too silly, too goofy for the folks out there, I think.
[00:24:12] It's scandalous, maybe.
[00:24:13] People don't like to scandal.
[00:24:14] It was brought by me, which I think maybe might throw people for a loop because I'm so
[00:24:18] weak and clean.
[00:24:19] They might not think I would bring such sacrilege.
[00:24:22] Like Jax would bring that, but not you.
[00:24:24] Thank you.
[00:24:24] That's exactly right.
[00:24:26] So that means there's not a chance, a snowball's chance that I can come back.
[00:24:30] I think I was already out of the loop, but you and the listeners.
[00:24:35] You were out in May.
[00:24:36] Yes.
[00:24:37] But you and the listeners are very close, Scotty.
[00:24:39] And I think you have to win this one in order to have a chance.
[00:24:43] I would have to sweep.
[00:24:44] And spoiler, Scotty didn't sweep.
[00:24:46] He did not sweep.
[00:24:47] For the second time in a row, Funkestra lost.
[00:24:53] I don't understand what you people are doing.
[00:24:58] Ha, ha, ha.
[00:25:00] This is a travesty.
[00:25:01] It is.
[00:25:02] In first place is Ben Folds.
[00:25:04] Big whoop.
[00:25:04] You know, we like Ben Folds.
[00:25:06] He's great.
[00:25:06] We love him.
[00:25:07] I don't understand how this won.
[00:25:09] This is too melancholy.
[00:25:11] I think it has something to do with the fact that it's Ben Folds.
[00:25:14] Yeah.
[00:25:15] People love the Ben Folds.
[00:25:16] I love the Ben Folds.
[00:25:17] Yeah.
[00:25:17] But not when you compare it to.
[00:25:19] I know it's tough.
[00:25:22] It's a tough comparison.
[00:25:24] It's an impossible choice, I think, for some people.
[00:25:28] So that means the listeners have statistically won.
[00:25:32] There's no chance of anyone else winning.
[00:25:34] Yeah.
[00:25:34] The big question, Mark, is how close is it going to be by the end of the season?
[00:25:38] But they can't lose at this point.
[00:25:40] So congratulations to the listeners.
[00:25:42] And that depressing song was brought to us by Brad Adams.
[00:25:44] Thanks a lot, Brad.
[00:25:45] Brad, put it away for the listeners.
[00:25:47] How about that?
[00:25:48] Good for them.
[00:25:49] We've got some instrumental Christmas songs to get to.
[00:25:52] But we have a trivia, I believe, Scott, that was sent in by a listener.
[00:25:55] Yeah, remember I put the call out like six years ago and said, hey, I don't have any
[00:25:59] more trivia.
[00:26:00] If anybody's got some, write in.
[00:26:02] Well, Janice Gallner did just that for us.
[00:26:05] This is great.
[00:26:06] Heaven sent.
[00:26:07] Janice said, hi, Brad, Scott, and the rest of the Christmas Morning Gang.
[00:26:09] Hello.
[00:26:10] You talked a while back about needing facts for instrumental weeks.
[00:26:13] I have some facts you can bring about tuba Christmas.
[00:26:15] If you have never been to one, it is a great event at Christmastime with Christmas carols
[00:26:20] being solely played by tubas and tuba family instruments.
[00:26:25] Events happen all around the country each year and can be as small as a quartet to as large
[00:26:30] as a couple hundred.
[00:26:31] It is quite an experience to be in a room with hundreds of tubas playing together.
[00:26:36] It hits you deep in the soul.
[00:26:38] I had the pleasure of playing once in Chicago with my high school as an alumni with a group
[00:26:43] of current and former students.
[00:26:44] I've included an old 2008 poor quality photo of that group.
[00:26:48] I'll post that one to our Instagram.
[00:26:50] Take a look at the Wikipedia page for some fun facts on the event.
[00:26:53] Hint, the event's inception includes Rockefeller Center ice rink and Leonard Bernstein.
[00:26:57] So you can search for tuba Christmas, all one word, on Wikipedia.
[00:27:01] Thank you, Janice.
[00:27:02] Well, I got to be honest with you, Scott.
[00:27:04] In the coincidence of a year, we actually have a song this week from a band called Jim Self
[00:27:11] and the Hollywood Tuba 12.
[00:27:14] So I think that's as good a place to start as any.
[00:27:17] Here's Santa Claus is Coming to Town by the Tuba People.
[00:27:34] I don't think I've ever really heard Tuba Christmas or a Tuba Christmas, any kind of
[00:28:27] Tuba related Christmas.
[00:28:28] I liked that.
[00:28:29] That was fun.
[00:28:30] The Tuba is coming for a vengeance.
[00:28:32] It is.
[00:28:33] And as somebody who has some experience with a Tuba, I'm happy to be on the right side
[00:28:39] of history when it comes to the Tuba.
[00:28:41] Yeah.
[00:28:41] When I used to work for National Geographic, I would travel to Washington, D.C. every month.
[00:28:46] And around Christmas time, there was always a gentleman there that would play the French
[00:28:50] horn solo just in the concourse area.
[00:28:55] And we'd play Christmas music.
[00:28:56] And it was so beautiful.
[00:28:57] I loved seeing that every year.
[00:28:59] Now, I know a French horn is not a Tuba, still a brass instrument.
[00:29:02] That's right.
[00:29:03] That's right.
[00:29:03] Loved it.
[00:29:03] Put some respect on the brass.
[00:29:06] That's right.
[00:29:06] Up next, we got O Come Emmanuel, an interlude by Folk Angel.
[00:30:16] Well, Brian, that was epic.
[00:30:17] I feel like I'm watching the heist scene in a Christmas movie.
[00:30:20] And I got to be honest, if you listen closely, you can hear a Tuba in there.
[00:30:23] So big week for Tuba.
[00:30:25] I was expecting something more folk because they were Folk Angel, but still nice.
[00:30:30] I was just a little-
[00:30:31] It was cool, yeah.
[00:30:32] Which means the last, oh, wouldn't you know it?
[00:30:34] It's Funkestra with We Wish You a Jingle Bells Christmas.
[00:31:34] Three weeks in a row, Funkestra.
[00:31:36] I'm so excited.
[00:31:38] My voice is cracking.
[00:31:40] It's Funkestra, everybody.
[00:31:41] It's Funkestra, everybody.
[00:31:43] I, my biggest concern here, Scott, is that now it's going to become a thing that people
[00:31:49] don't vote for Funkestra out of spite, even though they know it's the best thing that
[00:31:53] we've ever played.
[00:31:54] So we're in a tough spot.
[00:31:56] We're going to have to find out.
[00:31:57] So we got listener submissions this week from Lance Garman, Jack Unverfurth, Tia Horn,
[00:32:01] and Drew Basic.
[00:32:02] Thank you all for submitting.
[00:32:03] Thank you.
[00:32:04] Two more battles?
[00:32:05] Uh, yes.
[00:32:06] I'll double check, but yes, I think-
[00:32:08] Well, the listeners can just keep running away with it even farther and farther.
[00:32:12] That's right.
[00:32:13] Uh, we-
[00:32:13] Except the last battle counts for 15 points.
[00:32:16] Oh, how about that?
[00:32:17] I didn't know that.
[00:32:18] So everything up to this point has been diddly squat.
[00:32:20] Diddly.
[00:32:20] Diddly squat.
[00:32:22] Um, all right.
[00:32:22] Let's get to next week's song.
[00:32:24] I don't know whose turn it is at this point, but we got-
[00:32:26] Why don't you just-
[00:32:27] I think it's gotta be you.
[00:32:28] Just you pick one.
[00:32:30] Have we done Underneath the Tree, Kelly Clarkson, yet?
[00:32:32] No, we have not.
[00:32:33] Let's do it.
[00:32:34] Let's do Underneath the Tree.
[00:32:36] Okay.
[00:32:36] A, what is becoming a bit of a new classic, a modern classic, according to radio, because
[00:32:42] it gets played a ton.
[00:32:43] So, uh, let's see what the people out there have.
[00:32:45] It's not been out for many, many years, so I don't know how many versions there are,
[00:32:50] but apparently there's enough to make it on the list.
[00:32:52] So let's do it.
[00:32:53] Yep.
[00:32:53] I must have checked it when I put it on the list.
[00:32:55] So that was suggested by Lee Hodo.
[00:32:57] So go to Bandcamp.com, search for Underneath the Tree, find a version you like, and email
[00:33:01] it to me at ChristmasMorningPodcast at gmail.com.
[00:33:04] That's right.
[00:33:05] That's right.
[00:33:05] And Scotty, we're gonna be back next week, of course, with our regular program, and then
[00:33:10] with a Christmas party episode on the 25th on Friday, which is gonna be a lot of fun.
[00:33:16] A Friday Christmas party is, it's pretty great.
[00:33:19] Yep.
[00:33:19] Anything else for the people, Scotty?
[00:33:21] I don't have anything else for the people.
[00:33:23] My mind was wandering, thinking about the Halloween party episode.
[00:33:26] I was getting a little, like, I was starting to panic there, a little dead air.
[00:33:29] It's really good for a podcast.
[00:33:31] Now, I think what makes the most sense, Scotty, is for us to do one episode and for us to do
[00:33:36] it on Halloween.
[00:33:37] I think that makes the most sense.
[00:33:39] Okay, yeah.
[00:33:40] Or Halloween Eve or something, you know?
[00:33:42] And we have a lot of content.
[00:33:44] I've got photos.
[00:33:45] I've got emails.
[00:33:46] I've got a review of a Treehouse of Horror episode by the Christmas Aficionado.
[00:33:50] Like, there's really good stuff.
[00:33:52] It's gonna be a long party episode.
[00:33:54] Maybe you can put it on while you're carving a pumpkin.
[00:33:56] I think that's the way to do it, Scotty.
[00:33:58] And whether it was planned or not by me, that would mean that we have an episode coming
[00:34:03] out on Wednesday the 30th, Thursday the 31st, and then we kick off the season on Friday the
[00:34:07] 1st.
[00:34:08] So we're kind of going daily a little bit early.
[00:34:11] It's an unintentional daily, but you said yes.
[00:34:13] Oh, man, you got your wish.
[00:34:15] And there's nothing you can do about it.
[00:34:16] We're gonna be back next week with another one, though.
[00:34:18] So until then, we're the first to wish you a Merry Christmas.
[00:34:32] You're about to hear some ads that help pay for our trip back and forth to the North Pole.
[00:34:36] Feel free to listen.
[00:34:37] Feel free to bail now.
[00:34:38] But either way, thanks for being here.
[00:34:41] Ho, ho, ho!
[00:34:42] Ho, ho, ho!
